Microgaming storms to Best Mobile Product at International Gaming Awards

One of the most glitziest and important awards night of the year for the online gaming industry took place on Monday 6th February of 2017 at the swanky InterContinental London Park Lane.

The 10th International Gaming Awards attracted all the main players from the real world and online gaming industry all competing against each other in a number of different categories.

Microgaming were celebrating their second award in two years at the event when they took home the prize for the Mobile Product of the Year; a fitting reward for the company that has been striving to offer the myriad of mobile gamers some of the best and most innovative online slots and games they can play anywhere online.

That award came hot on the heels of the award the company won back in 2016 when they won the coveted Innovator of the Year award.

Speaking about the announcement that Microgaming would be receiving their second award in the space of two years at the industry's most celebrated awards evening, CEO of Microgaming Roger Raatgever was quick to add his thoughts;

"We are very proud to win the award for Mobile Product” stated Raatgever after the ceremony.

"We predicted that mobile would be the future of gaming back in 2004 when we created the world's first mobile casino software and [since then] we haven't looked back.

"The platform is thriving and it is very much the future of our industry, with even more growth to come.

"It is great to receive recognition for our hard work and to be viewed by the industry as having the best mobile product out there." He added

"This is the perfect way to start what is sure to be the most incredible ICE Totally Gaming for Microgaming!"

In his final statement, Raatgever was referring to the ICE Totally Gaming conference and exhibition that took place at the ExCeL Arena in London from the 7th to the 9th of February, the days following the awards show.

The reward is richly deserved for Microgaming who have been one of the industry's leading lights when it comes to mobile gaming. After starting in 1994, just at the beginning of the online casino boom, the company developed the very first fully functioning online casino software and it was as far back as 2004, when the company became one of the first to realise the potential offered by mobile gaming.

Since then the company has created the largest portfolio of mobile games of any provider, with over 350 different games playable on over 3000 different mobile devices and furthermore, Microgaming releases new games every month to ensure that collection keeps growing.

The company have also set new standards in the mobile gambling industry this year when one of their most coveted and popular products, the Mega Moolah slot game, awarded the largest ever progressive jackpot to a player playing from a mobile device, smashing the previous record in the process.

That win came in back on the 28th August 2016 when one player known only as D.P won €7,968,311 playing Mega Moolah at Zodiac Casino, one of the casinos that are part of Microgaming's Online Casino Network.

Incredibly, that lucky player had won his jackpot after signing up with the Casino using their 80 Chances to Become a Millionaire promotion, where the player deposited just €1 and received a total of 80 free spins on the slot that has become known around the world as the Millionaire-Maker.

Yet incredibly just a few months later, lightning struck again as on the 16th January 2017, just a few weeks before the star-studded awards evening was set to take place, the Mega Moolah jackpot was won again by a mobile player, this time at Captain Cook's Casino.

That player, known only as N.C won a jackpot amount of around €6m, just short of €2m shy of the current mobile world record, but that win meant that in the space of five months, Microgaming had given away almost €14m in two jackpot prizes to customers playing via mobile. Incredibly enough, N.C had also received his winning spins as part of the casinos 100 Spins for €1 promotion.

Mega Moolah, like many of Microgaming's most popular slots, has been designed to be easy to play on a range of mobile devices across a wide range of casinos offering Microgaming products. The original game is based on an African Safari theme and features a host of animals across the reels, and from this base game you can trigger the Jackpot Bonus Game which you can play to give yourself a chance of winning the massive cash prize.

Since 2013, Mega Moolah has been won four times in total by mobile users and as the number of players playing Microgaming's crowning glory via mobile continues to grow, it only seems likely that the number of mobile jackpot winners whose life is changed by a massive progressive win, will only continue to grow over the coming months.
