18 million Mega Moolah jackpot: You have to spin it, to win it!
You may remember last week we reported that the Mega Moolah broke 17 million? Well fast forward less than a week and the jackpot has just smashed through the 18 million mark.
The rate at which the Mega Moolah's Mega Jackpot is growing is quite incredible. You can see a graph of this on our Jackpot page. In the line graph you'll see a normal "acceleration" and then from around January 9, 2019, or the 15 million mark, the line takes off.
This is only the second time in the game's history that the jackpot has reached such an incredible amount and perhaps more amazingly, the last time it did so was the previous time that the jackpot was won back in September 2018.
Back then one player wagered a 0.75 cent bet to land an incredible €18.9 million prize eclipsing the previous World Record win, which was set on the Mega Moolah slot back in October 2015, when Jonathon Heywood landed a £13.2 million win.
Since then, the jackpot has continued to grow at a steady pace and with no winners in October, November or December 2018, the jackpot crashed through the 10 million mark on the 30th November 2018 and since then it has continued to grow at a rapid pace.
Why has the Mega Moolah jackpot grown so quickly this time?
After the win in September 2018 there is always an increasing number of new players who have just heard about the amazing win and come MegaMoolah.com.
The net result of this is that more players play the game and not only that, but those that are playing will be tempted to spend a little more on spins on the slot. The net effect of more players playing more spins on the game means that the progressive jackpot, if not triggered, can grow more quickly and it is this effect we have witnessed especially since late November 2018 to the present day as the size of the jackpot is increasing extremely rapidly now.
Another reason why many players may have played between September and the present day is that since January 2017, the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot has been won relatively regularly. Indeed between January 2017 and June 2018, the jackpot was won on average around once per month. Many players may have expected that after the big win in September, that the jackpot would have been won once again well before now.
All these factors combined mean that we are now seeing the top progressive jackpot on the Mega Moolah slot increasing at an incredible speed. So much so that the World Record win that was achieved only back in September, could now be under threat.
Could the World Record be shattered and if so, when?
One thing to note is that with more players playing more spins on the Mega Moolah slot, there is more chance that the jackpot will eventually be won. When that is, of course, nobody knows as the jackpot has no upper limit and it could be triggered on the very next spin, or not for a very long time afterwards.
So while we may not know the exact time of when the jackpot will be won, we can look back over history since the Mega Moolah slot was first released and this shows that even in the times when the game wasn't as busy as it is right now, the jackpot was still won at least once every year and on many occasions, the jackpot has been triggered at least three or more times.
Indeed, since the record-busting year of 2017, when an incredible 13 jackpot winners were crowned, 2018 was the second biggest year for the number of jackpot winners with seven winners in total, six from January to June and then September's big win.
This anecdotal evidence, together with the fact that the sheer number of players playing the game and spins being played on the slot, suggests that the progressive jackpot is likely to be won soon, but could that win be a a world record.
Well given that the jackpot has increased by around a million pounds in around a week, it seems likely that at some point late this week, perhaps on Friday 25th or Saturday 26th January, then the 19 million barrier will be breached.
If the jackpot climbs to 19 million will this not guarantee a World Record win?
The reason that a win of 19 million or greater on the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot slot would not guarantee a new World Record is due to a number of different factors.
The first and most important is the currency in which the jackpot is won. If the player were to win this prize in New Zealand Dollars, or Canadian Dollars, for example, then 18,910,669 of New Zealand dollars equates to around half of that in British pounds, while the same win in Canadian Dollars would equate to around the same (based on current exchange rates).
Therefore, these wins would not be larger than the current World Record win of 18,9 million euros. However, if the jackpot winner was claimed in euro, or British pound, then the likelihood of this being a jackpot win increase hugely.
Remember, other Mega Moolah progressive jackpots are still being won!
Another good thing to remember with the Mega Moolah slot is that while we use the term Mega Moolah progressive jackpot, there are actually four progressive jackpots available in the game, the Mini, Minor, Major and Mega.
Of course, we are referring to the Mega jackpot as the World Record busting progressive, but it is worth reminding yourself that the other three progressive jackpots are still being played for, and won, by lucky players as they play the slot. While the Mini and Minor jackpots are relatively small (usually around 8-10 for the Mini, between 50 and 100 for the Minor) the Major jackpot is well worth winning as that is usually worth tens of thousands.
Furthermore, these jackpots are won far more frequently than the Mega jackpot and as such, there are playing right now winning these jackpot prizes.
And what if the Mega Moolah jackpot continues to increase?
Many people are wondering what will happen if the Mega Moolah jackpot increases well beyond the current jackpot level of 18 million and the answer to that is, it will continue to increase to whatever amount until somebody wins the jackpot.
While it would certainly be exciting to see the first 20 million Mega Moolah jackpot winner, what would be more exciting would be if it continued to grow. The current record slot win on Megabucks in Las Vegas stands at a prize of US $39.7 million, which was won at the Excalibur Casino in Las Vegas way back in 2003. See our article on the big wins in Las Vegas.
Now the Mega Moolah jackpot prize would have to almost double in size to beat the Megabcuks record. It's unlikely that the jackpot would go that high, but the matter of fact is that no one knows as the Mega Moolah's Jackpot Bonus Wheel game can popup at any time and award that 18 million!
In the meantime, everyone playing the slot is hoping their spin will be the next big winner. Want to try luck to become an instant millionaire? If so, see these special Mega Moolah bonus offers.
