It has been a little while since the Mega Moolah jackpot was last landed back on the 19th September 2020, well now we have what will be confirmed as the eighth big jackpot winner of 2020, after a jackpot trigger landed on the 29th October 2020 for a prize of 6,017,395.68 in New Zealand Dollars.

The lucky winner would also become the third winner in New Zealand Dollars in 2020, which would mean 37.5% of wins in 2020 so far have been in this currency.

What we can see in this chart is that this latest New Zealand Dollar win has moved that currency above the US Dollar in terms of the average win value of Mega Moolah jackpot prizes when converted into the base currency of British Pounds, however NZ Dollar players trail behind the amounts won by Canadian Dollar, Euro and British Pound players on average, all of which are more than 4 million with the base currency British Pound, unsurprisingly given it is the strongest of all the currencies listed, offering the highest average win at over £4.4 million.
Other noteworthy facts surrounding this latest win
This latest winner is also the first time we have had a winner in late October as before that the latest winner in October came on October 16th. Although this winner was not a true Halloween jackpot winner, landing their prize on the 29th of the month means that they are closest to achieving that spooky honour than any other winner (the last closest winner being on the 5th November).
It is the sixth time that the jackpot has been won in October and that means October now moves ahead of March as being the fourth most popular month for Mega Moolah wins.
Mega Moolah wins by month
- 11 Wins - May
- 9 Wins - June
- 7 Wins - April, September, November
- 6 Wins - October
- 5 Wins - March
- 4 Wins - January, August, December
- 2 Wins - February, July
It is the 20th win landed in the autumn in the northern hemisphere (spring in the southern) which is more than double the ten landed in the autumn in the north or summer south of the equator. It still trails the 23 wins claimed in Spring time in the northern hemisphere (autumn in the south).
With this being the eighth win of 2020 so far, this means that despite not awarding a winner until April 2020, we have now seen the third most Mega Moolah jackpots awarded In a year in 2020. However, the jackpot will need to be triggered a further four times for the year to match the 12 winners in 2019 or a further five times to eclipse the most successful year ever for Mega Moolah winners, which was the 13 winners landed back in 2017.
It is worth noting for comparison that back in 2007, 2008 and 2010, we saw just one Mega Moolah winner across the entirety of each of those three years, while as recently as 2015, we saw just two winners in the whole of that year.
This latest jackpot win is also just the second time that the jackpot has been won between the 6 million and 7 million mark and it has been 12 years since the jackpot was won between those two amounts. In comparison, the jackpot has been won between 1 and 2 million 16 times in total.
As yet, there are no details about the winner as the process of verifying the win is being completed, but it does mean that the Mega Moolah jackpot has now reset back and is currently offering a prize of just over 3 million to players.
If any more details about this latest Mega Moolah jackpot winner become available, we will bring you details of that in a later article.
