9 million and counting - The Mega Moolah jackpot continues to grow!

Last week you may remember that the Mega Moolah jackpot continued to grow, increasing to over 8 million in total.

Well, so far, nobody has yet won the prize and with people playing Mega Moolah, plus the two new games linked to the same jackpot prize pool, Mega Vault Millionaire and Atlantean Treasures, that jackpot has now surpassed 9 million over the weekend!

This means that in the course of less than seven days, the jackpot prize pool on the Mega Moolah slot has increased by around a million pounds, which of course means that the jackpot prize pool is increasing by around 150,000 each day at the present moment in time.

Little wonder then that the jackpot prize has made people sit up and take notice!

Biggest winner since March 2019

If the jackpot is won now, or in the next few days, then it would be the largest jackpot prize won on the Mega Moolah slot since one lucky player landed a US$12,945,668 prize back in March 2019. That was the third of a trio of massive wins on the Mega Moolah slot, which included what was almost a brand new Guinness World Record win of €18,910,668 in September 2018 and the largest ever numeric prize amount won, when one Canadian Dollar player landed the first ever $20 million plus prize of CA$20,059,287 in January 2019.

It would also be one of the ten largest wins of the Mega Moolah jackpot prize as we have only had nine winners of 9 million or more in the game's history. Of course, the longer we go over the next few weeks or months before the jackpot is won, then the higher up that elite list this next winner will go:

Could the next big winner be a potential record breaker?

At the moment, Jon Heywood's famous win of October 6^th 2016 remains the Guinness World Record holder for the largest amount of money won on an online slot game. Due to the exchange rate at the time, this win still holds the record for the largest amount won across all the major currencies (US Dollar, Euro and British Pound).

The two higher wins in numerical terms on the list above, in Canadian Dollars and the Euro, both didn't quite have the largest amounts across all different currencies. As such, Guinness has opted not to change the record at this date.

However, there is a possibility that the next big money trigger could set a new world record.

For that, three things need to happen. First the Mega Moolah jackpot prize needs to grow in size to at least more than the 13,213,838 won by Jon Heywood back in October 2016.

Secondly, we need the exchange rates for the British Pound against the US Dollar and Euro to be stronger than they were back in October 2016. This may be difficult, with the effects of Brexit, but this can be mitigated, if the jackpot prize increases in value to considerably more than the £13.2 million threshold.

Thirdly, we would need the next winner of the Mega Moolah jackpot prize to claim their win using British Pounds as the currency they played the game with. If that happens, and the win is value at more than the corresponding amounts in British Pound, US Dollar and Euro currencies, then we could well have a new Guinness World Record on our hands.

Assuming that the jackpot continues to accrue at a rate of around 150,000 per day. That would mean that in around a month's time, 30 days or so, the jackpot would be at around the 13.5 million mark.

However, it could reach that amount before then as what has tended to happen in the past when the jackpot size has reached a larger amount, this attracts more people to play the game and also people that are playing the game play more spins , as of course, everyone wants to be the lucky one to trigger the jackpot prize.

So, what you see happen is that the amount wagered on the game increases and as such, the rate at which the progressive jackpot increases by per day, also increases. Indeed, when the jackpot prize is at a high amount, then increases of 200,000 per day are not uncommon. In that case, in just over three weeks' time, the jackpot would grow beyond that 13.2 million mark.

What are the chances of the next winner being a British Pound winner?

Since the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot slot was released, there are 9 confirmed winners of the jackpot prize that have won their cash in British pounds. Oddly, two of the first three set records for the highest ever prize won on Mega Moolah.

We already know about Jon Heywood's big win in October 2016, but before that in October 2012, another player called John Orchard landed a then-record busting win of over £5.8 million. Sandwiched in between those two wins was a win of around £3.7 million in September 2013.

After Mr Heywood's win, there were just two British jackpot winners between October 2016 and May 2019. Both of those winners winning relatively small amounts, £1.4+ million in October 2017 and £1.7+ million in April 2018.

However since May 2019, British pound winners have amounted to half of the eight wins in total since the British Pound trigger on the 24^th May who won over £5.5 million. There was another British Pound winner a few weeks later on the 17^th June who claimed a £3.03 million prize. There followed three winners in Canadian Dollars, before we had two more British Pound winners, one of over £3.5 million in October 2019, then the following month on the 8^th November, another British Pound winner claimed a prize of over £2.7 million.

So, since May 24^th 2019, British Pound winners have claimed four of the eight triggers of the prize since, a 50% strike rate which is one more win than Canadian Dollar players and three more than the last winner (who claimed their prize in New Zealand Dollars back in December 2019).

If that trend continues, then the chances are a coin toss that the next big winner could be another British Pound success story on the Mega Moolah slot.

Other potential Mega Moolah firsts

There are a couple of other Mega Moolah firsts we could see with this next big jackpot win. We could see the first Mega Moolah top jackpot prize claimed by a player of either of the two new additions to this progressive jackpot network, Mega Vault Millionaire or Atlantean Treasures.

Admittedly, the original Mega Moolah game has been responsible by far for the vast majority of wins on the slot (we think only three triggers have been achieved on other games linked to the Mega Moolah prize pool in its history, two on the 5 Reel Drive slot and one on the now discontinued Dark Knight slot).
