Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah Rolling Reels & Multiplier Trail feature review

There is no doubt that the forthcoming Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah slot game from Triple Edge Studios, as part of their sponsorship deal with the producers of the original Mega Moolah slot, Microgaming, is one of the most eagerly anticipated game releases of 2020.

There are lots of reasons for this beyond the fact that this is the third new Mega Moolah-powered slot to hit casinos in the past six months or so following on from the release of Mega Vault Millionaire towards the tail end of 2019 and then the Atlantean Treasures slot which was made available for general release in February 2020.

However, Absolootly Mad, which is based on an Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter's Tea Party theme, also has a number of firsts to its name when it comes to Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize games. First off, it is the first Mega Moolah title to do away with pay lines completely and instead, we have 243 Ways to Win available for the first time on a Mega Moolah slot.

That is somewhat appropriate given that it was Microgaming that first developed the 243 Ways to Win game several years ago. On a traditional 5x3 reel slot, there are a potential 243 different combinations of the same symbols you can have across all five reels. In effect, this means every possible way you can win is covered in this type of game.

That means that 243 Ways to Win slots do offer more opportunities to win and as a result, you often find that the low value wins in these games are lower than standard slot games, often amounting to just a small fraction of your total bet. However, because you can land on so many lines, and often multiple ways to win on a single spin, you can often win on multiple lines on that spin to increase the value of those wins.

So, having 243 Ways to Win is a great idea on the Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah slot, but the news gets even better as not only is this feature confirmed, but another popular feature from previous Microgaming slots is also included in the game. That is the Rolling Reels feature, together with its important modifier, the Multiplier Trail.

How does Rolling Reels and the Multiplier Trail work on Absolootly Mad?

You will often find that slots that offer Rolling Reels will also offer a Multiplier Trail bonus, so the two often go hand in hand. In truth, the Multiplier Bonus is the best way of unlocking some of the bigger cash prizes in the base game and for that, you need Rolling Reels to kick in.

On any win in the Absolootly Mad slot, the Rolling Reels feature will start. What happens is that unlike standard reels, the symbols on Absolootly Mad drop into place from above. When a win line is created, it is paid out and the symbols that are part of it will flash and disappear. This creates space on the reels, which is filled by symbols dropping down from above to fill the reels once again.

However, these new symbols and the symbols dropping down from spaces above, can then go on to create additional wins. This is how Rolling Reels works as the reels roll around and can create a number of successive wins from the same initial spin. It is almost like having free bonus spins each time you land a win.

When a Rolling Reels win is triggered the Multiplier Trail also kicks into action. On the first win, the Multiplier Trail is set at 1x the standard win, but if you manage to land a second win in Rolling Reels, then the multiplier will also move up one to 2x the standard win. Land a third win and the multiplier moves on to 3x the standard win and lastly, land four successive Rolling Reels wins to land the maximum base game bonus of a 5x multiplier. You will then receive a 5x multiplier on each Rolling Reels win beyond the fourth one you land.

Be aware though that once the Rolling Reels feature doesn't turn out a win, the Multiplier Trail is reset back to 1x the standard win.

The best thing about this feature is that it triggers on every win and while you may not land successive Rolling Reels wins on every win you land, it does happen often enough for you to feel like the Absolootly Mad slot is giving you something of a bonus from time to time.

The Free Spins Rolling Reels and improved Multiplier Trail Bonus

One of the most appealing features of the Rolling Reels and Multiplier Trail Bonus is that it not only applies in the base game, but also during the Free Spins bonus round on the Absolootly Mad slot.

When you trigger the Free Spins bonus by landing the three Scatter symbols across the middle three reels, then you receive 8 Free Spins initially (although you can trigger more Free Spins, up to a maximum of 48, by landing the three Scatter symbols once again during the bonus feature).

In addition to your Free Spins, Rolling Reels is also in play and it does appear that you land wins more often during Free Spins than in standard game-play. What really appeals though is those Rolling Reels wins as for Free Spins; the Multiplier Trail amounts are all increased by a 3x multiplier.

This means your first Rolling Reels win in Free Spins will see you land a 3x multiplier, your second will see you land a 6x multiplier, a third Rolling Reels win will see a 9x multiplier and lastly your fourth and any win beyond that amount, will all receive a huge 15x multiplier.

It is through this method that the largest non-progressive prizes, which can amount up to 2,343x your total stake can be won.

Playable from just 0.20 per spin, the Absolootly Mad slot is expected to be on general release across Microgaming casinos from early May 2020, with a tentative release date of May 5th seeming to be the likely date.

This is the perfect time to sign up to a Mega Moolah casino and be alerted when Absolootly Mad is available for play!
