Agent Jane Blonde to make a return after make-over by Stormcraft Studios

Agent Jane Blonde slot returns after Microgaming and Stormcraft Studios make-over of the game

It's been a busy time at Microgaming as they have been busy preparing for the iGB Live! 2018 gaming and exhibition conference, which was held in Amsterdam RAI from the 17th to the 20th July.

As part of their presence at the conference, as is growing more customary at these big industry conferences, Microgaming took this moment to announce their latest slot game due to be released in collaboration with Stormcraft Studios would be the sequel to the iconic 2005 release, Agent Jane Blonde.

Stormcraft Studios are one of a small number of third-party developers that have signed a deal with Microgaming to develop exclusive content for them. Their first release, Fortunium, was an instant hit upon hitting online casinos, with its breath-taking visuals and unusual game-play drawing praise from slots fans.

For their next release they will be returning back to one of Microgaming's most iconic older slots.

Agent Jane Blonde was first released 13 years ago, and it was a 5-reel slot that had 9 pay lines in play and which offered low to medium variance gaming/ You could wager from as little as 0.18 up to 90.00 per spin and the game came with a fantastic bonus round which saw you land 15 Free Spins of the reels and with any winnings receiving a welcome 3x multiplier. Best of all, Free Spins could be re-triggered.

The erstwhile heroine of the slot, Agent Jane Blonde was of course a female take on the British super-sleuth James Bond, although altogether shapelier and no less deadly. She was the Wild symbol in the game and substituted for all symbols, bar the scatter and when she formed part of any winning line, she also applied a 2x multiplier to the win.

The female spy has retained her appeal over the years and remains one of Microgaming's most popular older slots, so it is little surprise that the company has decided to utilise the talents of Stormcraft to bring the Agent Jane Blonde story into the modern day.

To further enhance the popularity of the game, Microgaming has decorated its stand at the iGB Live! 2018 event to promote the new game, including visuals taken directly from the yet-to-be-released slot, as well as the chance to enjoy an ice-cream in a selection of nine different flavours. A promotional gimmick which proved to be a huge hit for Microgaming at ICE in February this year.

The new game will be called rather simply Agent Jane Blonde returns and fans of the original can expect the sexy spy to have been given a fresh makeover by Stormcraft Studios. The new game will feature a standard 5x3 reel set up and will have 15 lines in play.

The graphics will be retro-inspired and will feature liberal use of neon and other bright colours, while confirmed features for the new game include Stacked Wilds and a Re-Spin feature. We'd also bet considerable money ourselves on there being an extensive Free Spins bonus feature too, although this has not yet been confirmed officially by any press release.

To finish off the game, stunning new artwork has been designed by Stormcraft Studios to accompany the.slot which will ensure that the game is both visually appealing and also a treat for the ears too.

Speaking at the iGB Live! 2018 event in the Netherlands, Microgaming Games Publisher David Reynolds expressed his hopes for the new game.

"Following the huge success of Fortunium, we are so excited for Stormcraft Studios' next release with Agent Jane Blonde Returns,"

"With Stunning graphics and an atmospheric soundtrack that brings you into Agent Jane Blonde's world of action and espionage, it's sure to be a hit with both fans of the original and new players when it goes live."

As yet there is no confirmed date for the release of the slot, but given that it took from the initial announcement in February at ICE, until June to see the release of the first Stormcraft Studio slot for Microgaming, Fortunium, we are guessing that there may be a little wait ahead of us before we can get our hands on the next installment of the Jane Blonde saga.

However, that doesn't stop us from listing some of the things we'd like to see retained from the original, as well as some of the things we'd like to see added or removed.

What are our hopes for the forthcoming Agent Jane Blonde Returns slot?

First of all, we know that not every release from Microgaming is going to be the next Mega Moolah or Thunderstruck II, but having played the original Agent Jane Blonde slot a fair bit over the years, there are one or two things that I would like to see from the sequel.

While Stormcraft Studio's ability to present a slot stylishly is not in doubt (Fortunium is an absolute feast for the eyes), I would like to see the cartoon-style element of the original retained in some way. I also liked the fact we had no playing card low symbols, a particular annoyance of mine, especially when there are so many other options available. I'd like to see these play no part in the sequel too.

One of the biggest criticisms of the original slot was that it was all a bit generic and perhaps too stereotypical, much of Jane Blonde's gadgets and gizmos were all somewhat lazily and predictably female, such as lipstick in a bullet and pink fluffy handcuffs. While I personally didn't feel affronted by this, I think to avoid similar criticism, making the returning Agent Jane Blonde more in keeping with the 21st century's popular opinions would be a good move.

Finally, the other item I would love to see retained from the original is a sizeable jackpot. While Agent Jane Blonde Returns is never likely to be a progressive jackpot game, I do think a sizeable jackpot helps to draw in players. Thunderstruck's jackpot wasn't huge, but Microgaming increased it markedly for Thunderstruck II and created a modern slot classic. A similar pattern for Agent Jane Blonde Returns would not be a bad idea also.

When released you will be able to play the Agent Jane Blonde slot at any of the Mega Moolah casinos.
