An overview of the Microgaming progressive jackpot games network

Microgaming boasts one of the most in depth progressive jackpot network of games of any modern slots company today.

The Isle of Man-based studio has been one of the pioneers of online casino gaming since the concept was invented many years ago at the dawn of the Internet age. Their progressive jackpot network has paid out billions to winners over the years across a wide number of different games.

Many people have had their lives changed by landing a Microgaming progressive jackpot prize, but the network of games is actually far larger than many people realise. With the release of Mega Vault Millionaire back in September 2019, this meant that there were now 17 different progressive jackpot games available from Microgaming. In 2020 there will be a new addition to this with the release of Wheel of Wishes - as announced by Mirogaming earlier this year - making it the 18th game in their extensive portfolio.

In this article, we are going to give you a brief preview of all these games, and a rough idea of how much you could win playing them and we will also pause for thought at the end of the article to wonder if we will see a new progressive jackpot game added to the mix any time soon.

So let's begin with the first and arguably the most famous games...

Microgaming Progressive Jackpot Network - Slots

Mega Moolah

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 3m and rising

The most famous of all the Microgaming progressives, Mega Moolah is a progressive slot game based on an African Safari, that offers a minimum cash prize of 1 million British Pounds in its Mega Jackpot fund. There are four progressives available in the game, Mini, Minor, Major and the Mega offering the minimum 1 million.

The jackpots are won by triggering a Jackpot Bonus Wheel game at random in the base game. The base game jackpot is 75,000 coins but that increases to 225,000 coins in the Free Spins bonus round. You can also win the Mega Moolah jackpot on some other slot games Mega Moolah Isis, Mega Moolah 5-Reel Drive, Mega Moolah Summertime and the newly released progressive slot, Mega Vault Millionaire.

Mega Vault Millionaire

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 2.8m and rising

Mega Vault Millionaire is the latest Casino Rewards Network-exclusive slot game allows players to try and land the same Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize as is available in the other Mega Moolah games, only in Mega Vault Millionaire, you can achieve this massive win through a different bonus game.

This brand-new slot is based on bank vaults and the riches contained therein and if you trigger the random Jackpot Bonus Game, you will get to spin up to three reels, progressing through each trying to win the bigger of the four jackpots available in the game. Spins start from just 0.25 per spin on this 5-reel, 25 pay line slot.

Major Millions

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 1.08m and rising

One of Microgaming's most venerable slots, Major Millions actually comes in both 3-reel and 5-reel versions, although each game is somewhat similar, your chances of winning the big progressive jackpot prize remain exactly the same regardless of which version of the slot you choose to play.

Based on an American Military theme, you need to make the maximum bet of 3.00 to cover all pay lines in the slot as you can only win the progressive jackpot when you land five of the Wild symbols on the final pay line in the game. When you do that, you will land the progressive prize, which can sometimes climb over and above the million mark.

King Cashalot

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 914k and rising

This often overlooked slot often has some of the biggest jackpots available when you look at the Casino Rewards progressive network. It is a 5-reel slot with 9 pay lines, all of which must be played to win the progressive jackpot prize, therefore a bet on this game starts at 2.25.

There are a number of nice bonus features in the King Cashalot slot, such as the Treasure Chest bonus game, which can lead to some sizeable wins, but the progressive jackpot is triggered by landing five of the King symbols on the ninth pay line. If you do that, then a very large and rarely triggered jackpot prize could be yours.

Wow Pot

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 6k and rising

Rather like Major Millions, there are two WowPot progressive slots you can play, 3 and 5-reel games, and your chances of landing this small progressive jackpot prize are the same in each game. As is the minimum bet you need to make to qualify for a shot at the top prize, of 1.50 per spin.

On each version of the game, you have to land the WowPot Wild symbol in full across the reels on the final pay line in each slot. This will see you win the top progressive prize, rather than the 5,000 coin jackpot available should you land the win on any of the other pay lines.

Lots A Loot Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 12.5k and rising

There are two versions of the Lots A Loot slot available, 3-reel and 5-reel versions and regardless of which game you play, you need to make the maximum bet of 2.50 per spin in order to land a shot at the progressive jackpot prize.

With a base game jackpot of 10,000 coins available, it also offers some valuable non-progressive jackpot wins too, but it is landing the five Lots A Loot symbols across the reels on the final Pay Line of the slot that you are playing that will trigger the big progressive jackpot prize.

Treasure Nile Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 78k and rising

In terms of paying out players, few slots pay out their progressive jackpot prize as often as the Treasure Nile slot, indeed as we writing this article in December 2019, the jackpot has already been triggered twice in December alone. This is a more expensive slot to play, at a minimum bet of 4.50 per spin if you want to win the progressive jackpot, but as you can see, the jackpot is won a lot more often than on other games.

This Egyptian themed slot has a number of symbols on that theme on the reels, and on the 5x3 reels there are nine pay lines in play. Land the Tutankhamun death mask Wild on any of the first 8 lines and you win a 6,000x jackpot, but land it on the ninth and final pay line and that big progressive jackpot prize will be yours.

Fruit Fiesta Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 16k and rising

There are 3 and 5-reel versions of Fruit Fiesta available to play and you can win the progressive jackpot on either and your chances remain the same regardless of which games you play. In addition, how much you play also remains the same and you need to ensure all 15 pay lines are in play on the slot.

Like most of these types of progressive, the key to winning the big progressive jackpot is to land the key symbol, in this case, the Fruit Fiesta Wild across the final pay line in the slot. On any other line, it will see you land a prize of 9,000 coins, but on the final pay line you will take home the progressive jackpot prize.

Tunzamunni Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 19k and rising

If you love great value progressive slot gaming, then Tunzamunni offers you this with qualifying bets starting at just 0.25 per spin, making a great choice for lower stakes players. The game is a simple 3-reel slot that offers you a chance to win big if you can land the three different types of Lucky.7 symbols across the reels.

Land all red, blue or white Lucky 7 symbols and you can win prizes from 160x to 1000x your stake, but land one each of the White, Red and Blue sevens across the reels, in that order and you can win 2,500x your stake, unless you land it on the final pay line which means you will trigger the big progressive jackpot prize.

There are two Cash Splash progressive jackpot games, a 3-reel and a 5-reel version and the great news is that no other progressive jackpot pays out its top prize quite as often as Cash Splash. Jackpots can range from 10k up towards 100k too, which makes this one of the more interesting slots to play.

Regardless of what version you play, the minimum bet to land a progressive prize is 3.00 and in both games the Cash Splash symbol is the key to the progressive win as you need to land it on the final pay line in each game in order to land the progressive jackpot prize.

Microgaming Progressive Jackpot Network - Non-slots

Caribbean Draw Poker Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 269k and rising

Draw poker allows players to pick two card from their original hand of five in the hope of improving their hand and beating the dealers hand. If you can and land a hand of a pair of eights or better, then you can win a cash prize of between even money and a 100/1 return for a Royal Flush.

However, in Caribbean Draw Poker, if you place a Jackpot bet of 1.00 per hand you will also enter the progressive jackpot game, which sees you also receive an additional pay out if you land a hand of two pairs or better. Land the Royal Flush with the jackpot bet enabled and you will win the massive progressive jackpot prize.

Supa Jax Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 37.5k and rising

In order to win the SupaJax progressive you need to make the full 5.00 bet on each turn and the game itself is very similar to many other forms of Video Poker. Hit the deal button once you have bet your stake and you receive five cards. You can then keep or discard as many of these as you like, receiving fresh cards from the pack for those you wish to change.

At the end of the re-deal your new cards are revealed and your hand calculated and if you hit a winning hand, you will be paid out according to the paytable. One small change to the standard game is that there is a SupaJax card in the deck. If you can land this card with the four other Jacks in the game, then that is how you land the progressive jackpot prize.

Roulette Royale Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 344k and rising

If you would love to play roulette with a progressive jackpot prize, then Roulette Royale is a perfect choice. This game actually works very well as a standalone Roulette game, but the addition of a sizeable progressive prize sweetens the game even further.

The game plays very much as a standard version of roulette, with just one big difference. If you can land the same number on the roulette wheel five times in succession in your game, then you will win the progressive jackpot prize. This does not happen very often of course, and as such, this means that the progressive jackpot on this game can rise quite considerably.

Jackpot Deuces Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 14.6k and rising

To stand a chance at landing the progressive jackpot in the Video Poker-based Jackpot Deuces game, you need to bet the maximum amount of 5.00 per game. When you do, you are dealt five cards face up. You can then choose to discard as many of these cards as you would like, to be replaced with fresh cards dealt from the pack. Your hand is then compared with the pay table and if your hand matches a decent poker hand, then you will win the stated amount.

To help you, the number '2' cards in the pack, also called Deuces, are all Wild cards which can be used with other cards to make up winning hands. To win the progressive jackpot, you need to land a Royal Flush using the diamond cards in the pack, while betting all five coins on that hand.

Cyberstud Poker Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 218k and rising

In this version of progressive poker, the player receives five cards from the dealer face up and they can also see two of the dealers five cards. The player can then decide whether to fold or make another bet in addition to their original bet to play on. After which the dealer reveals their remaining three cards. In the event of this happening, the hands are compared, and the player will win a cash prize, if the dealers hand qualifies. If the dealer's hand does not quality, then the player receives a small profit from their bets.

The Cyberstud Poker Progressive jackpot is won when a player lands a Royal Flush in the game and the player has made the progressive jackpot side bet when starting the game. If they do not make a side bet then a Royal Flush pays out at 20,000 credits.

Triple Sevens Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 108k and rising

Triple Sevens is a fun progressive based on Blackjack and which has a 2.00 wager plus a 1.00 side bet in play. The side bet is your contribution to the progressive fund and of course, means that you could win that big progressive prize.

The aim of the game is to beat the dealer's blackjack hand by scoring as near to 21 as possible without going bust. However, in this game, the 7 cards are the key to the big progressive jackpot prizes. There are several packs of cards played in this game and as such, if you can land three 7 of diamonds as your first three dealt cards, you win the progressive jackpot prize. Other cards and combinations will pay out a variety of prizes from small even money returns, to larger returns for more difficult to hit combinations.

Poker Ride Progressive

• Current Progressive Jackpot - 213k and rising

Poker Ride is a form of poker where you can bet on your hand after you have received three cards face up, with two community cards, shared with the computer player dealt face down. The aim of the game is for the computer player's hand to qualify and for you to then beat that hand with your own. If you do, depending on the strength of your hand you will win a cash prize ranging from an even money return up to a 1000x your bet return for a Royal Flush.

However, you can also make a side bet in this game and if you do, then you will also be playing for the progressive jackpot prize, which will be paid out to a player making a side bet and also landing that Royal Flush.

Will we see another Progressive Jackpot game added to the network?

Microgaming hadn't introduced a new slot to the progressive network for several years until the release of Mega Vault Millionaire this year and that suggests to me that the company may be looking to overhaul the progressive side of their business.

What will the future hold? We already know that a massive new progressive jackpot game called Wheel of Wishes with a WowPot jackpot is coming out in 2020. Although what that will be and how that will work is anyone's guess at this time.
