Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah slot lands its first Mega Jackpot winner!
Over the last six months or so, Microgaming and their partners have produced three new slot games tied in with the Mega Moolah Progressive Jackpot prize.
First to arrive was the Casino Rewards exclusive Mega Vault Millionaire in November 2019, followed by the Atlantean Treasures slot in February this year and then in April came the Absolootly Mad slot.
It was always going to be interesting to see which of these games would be the first to land its first top Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize and now we have that answer as on the 8th May 2020, one lucky player landed a jackpot of over NZ$13.6 million (over €7.7 million) while playing the Atlantean Treasures slot.
We also know that the winner landed their prize playing at River Belle Casino although it appears that the winner has, as is seemingly standard nowadays, opted to remain anonymous.
The win adds to the $1.1 billion paid out in prize money by the Microgaming progressive jackpot network to date and the lucky winner was the second big prize money winner in the space of a few months, after landing their prize just over a month after the first big winner of 2020, when one Canadian player banked over CA$16.4 million.
Landmark moment for Mega Moolah's new slots
It is one thing for a company to announce and then release a brand-new progressive jackpot slot, even one that is tied in to a current progressive prize, but the real proof of the pudding of any game comes when a player first lands a top jackpot prize on that slot.
Over the years, it has been tough for games other than the original Mega Moolah slot to land a winner. Outside of the main game, there have been just four jackpot triggers that were landed on other slots affiliated to the same progressive jackpot prize. Two of those wins came on the 5 Reel Drive slot, with one other landed on the now unavailable Dark Knight slot. Now you can add Atlantean Treasures to that list.
The Atlantean Treasures win of a couple of weeks ago was also the biggest ever non original Mega Moolah slot win by a comfortable margin and for the trio of new games, it was an important moment showing all customers and slots fans that the biggest jackpots can indeed be won playing these newly released slots.
Of course, the news that the first jackpot win has been confirmed on the trio of new slots does not mean that they have not been paying out big money prizes on other jackpots. We know for a fact that they have all paid out Major jackpot prizes to lucky winners, amounting to tens of thousands in a variety of currencies in the majority of cases.
Microgaming has confirmed that the Atlantean Treasures slot alone has paid out over €14.2 million in jackpot prizes, including 45 Major jackpots prior to this big money Mega Moolah progressive jackpot win.
However, this is the first documented big win to be landed on these games and psychologically for both the slots developers and slots players, that is a big moment.
The Chief Commercial Officer at Microgaming Jean-Luc Ferriere commented:
"Congratulations to the winning player for hitting the first ever Mega jackpot on Atlantean Treasures: Mega Moolah. The tremendous €7.7 million-win marks another milestone for Microgaming's progressive jackpot network, and we look forward to further enhancing our growing portfolio with additional progressive games to deliver even more entertaining gameplay experiences and opportunities to win."
However, it may not be the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize that is the focus of Microgaming's next few progressive releases with a couple of additional games purportedly set to be released that will be linked to the company's new big money progressive jackpot prize pool, the 2 million seeded Wowpot prize, which you can currently play for on the Wheel of Wishes slot and which soon you will be able to play for on a new Sisters of Oz slot by Triple Edge Studios, which is due for release over the coming weeks. Just the other day a lucky player won the Major Jackpot worth 224,063.80 on the Wheel of Wishes!
Lump sum pay outs!
As with all jackpot wins on the Mega Moolah slot, or indeed with any progressive jackpot win on the network, the player will receive their cash prize in full, in a single lump sum payment. Whether or not they are taxed on the win depends on the laws in the country in which they reside. In the U.K. big money winners of jackpot prizes do not have to pay tax on their Mega Moolah wins.
Having awarded the prize, the Mega Moolah jackpot then reset, once the conversion had been made back to around the 7.5 million mark and since then, the jackpot has once again climbed to the point where it is now just short of the 8.8 million mark. This means that if the jackpot is not claimed within the next week or so, given the current rate of growth of the jackpot prize, the next winner will be the third 10 million-plus winner in a row.
This clustering of big money wins is now happening for the third time. From September 2018 to March 2019, we had three wins all over the 10 million mark, and prior to that, we had four wins of over 10 million beginning with Jon Heywood's famous £13.2 million win in October 2015, through to the second of two CA$11.6 million wins in a row which arrived on the 5th November 2016. You can see all the stats on our Jackpot page.
However, there is no guarantee that we will see a third ten million plus winner in a row. Part of the beauty of the Mega Moolah progressive, regardless of which slot you play the game on, is that it can be won at any time on any qualifying spin, by any player. That means that the Mega Moolah jackpot prize could be won within a few seconds of you reading this, or it may be won in the coming days, weeks or months. Nobody knows.
We have seen the jackpot won on the same day twice (on 22nd May 2017 and just a month layer on 19th June 2017) and similarly we have also seen many months between wins.
One thing is for sure, after a relatively slow start in 2020, the new generation of Mega Moolah slots are starting to make their mark in the industry and now that Atlantean Treasures has broken its Mega Moolah progressive prize duck, it is going to be interesting to see when Mega Vault Millionaire and Absolootly Mad do likewise!
