Casino Rewards winners: August 2020

After a fantastic month in July when we saw 44 winners land prizes, the second largest amount of winners in a month we have recorded, it was always likely that August would struggle to match those numbers, however with 36 winners in the month, August proved to be a decent month, especially for players who played using the Euro currency as we will discover.

What was marked about August was not so much the larger jackpots, there weren't any jackpots over 80,000 recorded with the largest coming in at CA$78,878, but what did happen was that we saw a far greater number of mid-range jackpot wins from around 20,000 to 50,000 during this month, which has helped keep the averages of the wins up.

Average is the best word perhaps for August, the data didn't really show any standout information in terms of big money winners, or casinos producing more than their fair share of winners and indeed it was the same games on the network that produced the majority of winners this month as they have for other months preceding August.

However, we did see an increase in Mega Vault Millionaire winners which is interesting and perhaps indicative of the Casino Rewards Network drive to encourage more players to play this particular version of the game. We would of course need to corroborate that data in following months though to see whether it is a genuine trend or not.

So, with all that in mind, what were the big headlines from the month of August 2020? Let's take a look at some of the key points below.

Casino Rewards progressive payouts in August 2020

• There was one Mega Moolah Mega Jackpot winner in August 2020, although that winner did not land their €14.2 million prize at a Casino Rewards Network Casino. The winner was a Swedish player and the prize won was the largest jackpot prize ever won by a Swedish player online, setting a national record in the process. The jackpot reset to just over 1.8 million and was not won again by the end of the month.
• In terms of the number of winners, August was a very average month finishing equal sixth in the table with 36 winners throughout the month, which is still more than one big money winner per day.
• August didn't produce any jackpot prizes to trouble the biggest winners of 2020 so far with a relatively small top prize of just over CA$78,878 the top prize awarded this month. That is less than half the amount won by one player back in July 2020.
• Unlike last month which saw Treasure Nile produce the four biggest wins of the month, August 2020 saw four different games produce the top four winners in the month, with the Casino Rewards Exclusive Mega Vault Millionaire among the games to produce the top four winners.
• Keeping your powder dry and waiting until the end of the month to play was arguably the best play in August 2020 as the luckiest day of the month in terms of the number of big jackpot winners was the 31^st August which saw four winners land their prize on the last day of the month.
• We saw three winners landed on the 6^th and 7^th August too, In fact the first ten days and the last ten days of the month produced the largest number of winners by a considerable margin. 16 winners in the first 10 days and 13 winners in the last 10 days, with just 7 winners in the 11 days in between.
• Two jackpot prizes were won on several dates throughout the month including the 1^st, 5^th, 8^th, 18^th, 25^th and 27^th
• Single jackpot prizes were won on the 2^nd, 3^rd, 9^th, 10^th, 11^th, 12^th, 15^th, 16^th, 20^th, 22^nd, 23^rd, 25^th, 26^th, 29^th and 30^th
• The only days in August not to see a jackpot win were the 4^th, 13^th, 14^th, 17^th, 19^th, 21^st, 24^th and 28^th
• The smallest recorded jackpot prize this month was CA$10,009 and was won at Yukon Gold Casino on the Mega Moolah slot winning the Major jackpot prize.

Which Casino Rewards casinos and games generated big winners in August 2020?

There was a relatively unusual name at the top of the board when it came to the casino which produced the biggest winner in August 2020. Luxury Casino was the casino and its single win was the largest of the month coming in at over CA$78,878. That is a nice reward for the players at the casino as it doesn't tend to feature too prominently on the charts. In terms of number of wins Grand Mondial Casino roared back to the top of the charts comfortably as you can see in the table below.

Although we had fewer winners in August 2020 compared to July in the same year, the number of casinos that paid out big money winners increased from 10 last month to 12 this month. Grand Mondial Casino returned to the top of the charts with more than double the number of winners last month by landing nine. This casino was well clear of Captain Cooks Casino in second place, with Yukon Gold Casino and Cosmo Casino third with four wins apiece.

It was nice to see some other casinos, notably Blackjack Ballroom, Casino Action and Casino Classic, who didn't land a big money winner last month, return to the charts this.

Overall it was a solid performance this month by the majority of Casino Rewards Network casinos but how does the data look when we look at which of the games were producing the big money winners this month?

Cash Splash once again produced the largest number of winners during the month with 14, but the number of Mega Moolah winners held almost steady with 8 recorded during the month compared to nine last month. However, Mega Vault Millionaire saw a good increase in winners increasing from 5 winners to seven but in contrast the number of winners on the Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah slot decreased by half down to three. Treasure Nile produced a similar number of winners, four this month compared to five last.

Casino Rewards currency jackpot wins in August 2020

With their being fewer wins in August than July it is not surprising that we saw the number of Canadian Dollar and Euro winners drop down a little, although we did see one more US Dollar winner in August than we did in the whole of July. Euro winners only dropped by one with Canadian Dollar winners seeing a reduction of eight from July.

Ten Canadian Dollar player landed prizes of over 30,000 in August, with one US Dollar player but Euro players struck more than five jackpots out of their seven wins at over 30,000, which is a very impressive strike rate and means the Euro currency should score well in terms of the average amount of wins over the course of the month.

However, given the huge advantage in the number of Canadian Dollar wins, even despite a strong showing from the Euro, in terms of the cumulative amounts won, the Canadian Dollar will still come out on top by a large margin.

What is interesting to note here is that the amount won by the Euro and US Dollar players was nearly double the amount won by those players back in July, but in terms of Canadian Dollar wins we have seen a drop from over CA$1.12 million in winnings last month to around CA$450,000 less than that this month.

It is going to be interesting therefore to look at how the currencies compare when we average out the raw data for their wins.

You can clearly see the impact of those strong performances by Euro jackpot winners this month with them winning considerably more per jackpot win on average than either US Dollar and particularly Canadian Dollar players. Indeed, compared to July, the Euro average win for the month has increased by just under the equivalent of €20,000 Euro per win, which is a staggering amount.

However, for a more easier to compare measure, we need to convert these average wins into a single base currency amount to compare them more easily and for that we are going to use the British Pound, the base game currency of all the top progressives on the Microgaming Progressive Network.

What is interesting to note here is that although there were fewer Euro wins, each one of those wins was on average almost worth double the amount in relative terms than the much more numerous Canadian Dollar wins. US Dollar average wins remained largely the same from last month too, although it should be noted that these averages are from a small sample size (two wins this month, just one win last).

What were the biggest Casino Rewards wins in August 2020?

While we did have one Mega Moolah progressive jackpot winner confirmed in August, a lucky player from Sweden who took home over €14.2 million in prize money, that winner was not landed at a Casino Rewards Network casino, but even so, it is still good to see someone winning a massive jackpot prize.

In July, we saw two winners over the 100,000 mark and one just below that at 99,767, but the data for August 2020 is a little more modest than that with no wins over the 100,000 mark this month and indeed, no wins over the 80,000 for the month either. That said, there were a good proportion of winners in the 30,000 to 50,000 bracket which perhaps shows that the funds this month were distributed around more people.

With no massive winners in August what we have seen is a greater number of what I would term as mid-range wins in the data, those wins between 40,000 and 60,000 in different currencies in particular. We had just three of those last month, but in August 2020, we had double that amount, which at least goes to show that sometimes the progressive prize funds can be divided more fairly among more players!

The performance of Treasure Nile is noteworthy as the often-unheralded game produced 40% of the biggest money winners this month, the same as both the Mega Moolah and Mega Vault Millionaire slot combined. Once again, it also provided the biggest winner of the month in terms of value. This is certainly a slot to keep an eye on if you are serious about your progressive jackpot slot gaming.

What is impressive is that we had a total of 16 winners of jackpot prizes claiming prizes of 30,000 or more during August, that is a huge amount more than we had in other months. Even in July 2020, when we had 44 winners, only 12 landed prizes of over 30,000, which again corroborates the fact that August 2020 was a very good month in terms of the average value of a win, even compared to months that have had more winners, or that have seen a couple of much higher value prizes.

Mobile vs non-mobile Casino Rewards winners in August 2020

The 36 winners in total in August 2020 puts it firmly in the middle of the pack when it comes to the number of winners and once again around three quarters of those winners all came on mobile devices, which seems to be about the norm for the network.

So far since the start of 2020, we have had a total of 306 big money winners on the Casino Rewards progressive jackpot network since the year started. If we can continue that pace over the next four months, we could get close to 450 to 500 winners across the course of the year, which would be excellent.

What we are seeing is that mobile users are not just winning more often than desktop users, but also that the amounts they win tend to be larger. That would fit the data given that around 75% of wins tend to be on mobile devices and it is indicative of the general trend towards casino players using their smartphone or mobile tablet device to access their choice of casino to play, rather than being sat at a desktop.

August was a pretty average month in many respects. We didn't see any winners land a prize over the 100,000 mark but there were a good number of prize winners that landed prizes between 20,000 and 50,000, with a few more just above that figure. Once again, it is the same games that seem to pay out the most regular winners and obviously it is these games that are proving very popular with players every month or so. We have seen a number of Mega Vault Millionaire winners to this month which is good news for the network, given that it is its exclusive Mega Moolah slot.
