Flower Fortunes Megaways (531,441 Ways to Win) slot review
One of the most exciting aspects of Microgaming's recent collaborations with other companies is the increase in variety of games becoming available.
We have already seen some fantastic recent releases such as the Village People Macho Moves, Agent Jane Blonde Returns and Reel Splitters, which all offer something a little different to the standard 5x3 Microgaming slot offerings.
However, we now have something extra special to add to the list of Microgaming slots. This is the newest release and it has been produced in conjunction with Fantasma Games. This new slot is Flower Fortunes Megaways, so called because it uses Megaways technology to offer anywhere up to an incredible 531,441 potential Ways to Win across the six reels. You did read that correctly, that is over half a million Ways to Win.
It is not just the introduction of this feature and the additional reel that makes the Flower Fortunes Megaways slot so different. The game has a novel way of accessing its bonus features too as well as a different take on how things look in terms of the reels too (there aren't any, instead the blocks fall into position from above).
So is the Flower Fortunes going to sprout into one of the most beguiling of Microgaming slots? Let's take a look at the game in a bit more detail.

The presentation of the slot is very gentle, with a soft musical soundtrack playing as you enjoy the game. The setting is a rather unusual glade surrounded by green escarpments, under a hazy blue sky. The bonus meter stands to the left of where the symbols sit and the main controls of the game are at the foot of the reels.
While the backdrop is nicely done and the progress you make in the game to unlocking the different bonuses is easy to follow, it has to say that the graphics are a little uninspiring, chiefly because of the symbol design. However, the animations on the different bonus features you can trigger do make the game come to life a bit more and when they land, it does spice things up on screen a little.
What is on the reels?
I have to be brutally honest and say that the symbol design on this slot is, well for want of a better word, really boring. All the symbols are simply squares of different colours, although they can come in different sized blocks, from single symbols, to triples.
The five duller colours symbols, the grey, brown, green purple and maroon coloured symbols are the lower value symbols and some of these wins can be just 1/10 of your total bet. The four brighter symbols are the higher value wins and these are the blue, green, purple and pink symbols and these offer wins from 0.3x your bet up to 10x your bet, although of course, with multiple symbols possible stacked together, you can win this across multiple lines.
Alongside these symbols others can become available on the reel as you move through the different levels and as you do, the number of symbols available on the reels will increase and decrease as you play through the game, offering you an increasing number of Ways to Win across the reels as you unlock greater number of symbols on each reel.
The Wild feature is available in the game immediately and it offers just one role and that is to act as a substitute for other symbols to create additional wins. However, as you make progress through the bonus meter, you will unlock an additional bonus on the Wild as we will explore below.
Free Spins features
There is no specific Free Spins feature on the Flower Fortunes Megaways slot, but instead what you do have is a Level Bar or progress meter on the left of the reels. On any spin, you may land leaves or energy orbs on the reels superimposed over the standard symbols. A leaf is bad as it will remove one level step, Energy Orbs are good as it will increase the Level step by one for each Orb landed.
Collect the Orbs to unlock bonus features
The first bonus is the Wild bonus which when activated, will ensure that any Wild landed in the game will become an Expanding Wild and will expand to cover the entire reel and this can lead to some very sizeable wins, especially if the Wild can be landed on multiple reels on the slot. Each Expanding Wild also comes with a random multiplier bonus of up to 9x the standard win.
The next Bonus is the Respin bonus which is triggered when you reach Level 3 or above. When you do, Scatter symbols are added to the reels and when they do, you will automatically earn a free Respin of the reels, which will replace between 3 and 20 of the symbols landed on the qualifying spin, this can of course trigger additional wins if you are lucky enough.
Hit Level 4 or higher and if you land three of the Bonus symbols that are now on the reels then you trigger the Bonus Game, which allows you to select from three flowers. For each flower a cash prize is awarded and you can decide whether to keep the prize you have won, or reject it and open another flower.
Take the bonus bar all the way to the top and you unlock the Avalanche feature which sees winning symbols on spins disappear and be replaced with new symbols from above, which can trigger additional wins. These Avalanche wins will also see an increasing multiplier for each successive win of this type triggered.
Once nice touch is that all the bonus features become available together as you progress through the slot, reach the Avalanche level for example and you have all the bonus features active in the game.
Best feature of the Flower Fortunes Megaways slot
The Level Bar is a great way to access the bonus features on the slot and each of the bonus features has its own benefits, although I think the Bonus game is the least attractive option. For me the Avalanche feature is the best on the slot as it can lead to some sizeable wins if you can keep it unlocked long enough (which is the main problem when you trigger it).
Flower Fortunes is a fantastic new slot and a real departure from Microgaming's standard slot. It is great to see a Megaways slot now available at Microgaming and Flower Fortunes is different enough to keep players intrigued, while still being easily recognisable as a slot game. It's lower variance too, which means it shouldn't really be too expensive to play over the long term.
You can play this fantastic new slot at any of our Mega Moolah casinos.
