Fortunium Gold Mega Moolah jackpot slot details unveiled
You may recall a little while back now that we gave you a quick cursory preview of the forthcoming Mega Moolah progressive jackpot slot release, Fortunium Gold. Back then, we did not have as much detail about the game as we do now ahead of its official release date of the 22nd September 2020.
So in this article, we are going to give you a more detailed preview of the game and what features it will have to offer when it is released next week.
Let's begin though by exploring a little about the Fortunium series of slots, where they came from and what Fortunium Gold slot means to the popular series.
The beginning of Fortunium
At the ICE 2018 event in London, Microgaming showcased a number of new slot games that had been developed by a number of studios that were engaging in exclusive content deals with the Isle of Man-based company. One of those games was Fortunium, by Stormcraft Studios.
Along with Cash of Kingdoms, Fortunium was one of the standout titles of that ICE 2018 event for Microgaming and its release a few months later was a huge hit. The steampunk inspired slot featuring Maximillian and Victoria, was a hit with customers as it featured some engaging new features, superb graphics and fantastic sound.
Having been such a hit the first time around, it was always likely that a second slot in the series would follow and at ICE 2020, Microgaming revealed that a second slot in the series was indeed on its way, only this time it would be called Fortunium Gold and that it would also be a progressive jackpot game.
Not too long later and it was revealed that not only would the game be a progressive but it would be tied in with the world famous and record-breaking Mega Moolah progressive jackpot network becoming the third game of 2020, following on from Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah and Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah to join the popular progressive network.
What do we know about Fortunium Gold Mega Moolah?
Having received positive reviews from a limited release in a select number of casinos over the last few weeks, we now know a lot more about the new Fortunium Gold slot and how the game will be set up.
The steampunk looks and feel of the original game has been faithfully recreated in the new slot and once again, Maximillian and Victoria will be centre stage as the main characters in the slot game. However, there are also some notable changes too, with the new game becoming the first 5x5 reel Mega Moolah slot in existence and also becoming the first 40 pay line slot to offer a shot at the Mega Moolah jackpot prize.
Basic details
It is now confirmed that Microgaming's latest Mega Moolah slot will offer 5x5 reels and 40 non-selectable pay lines. Spins start from just 0.10 per spin up to 15.00 per spin, however there is also a Win Booster feature that can be selected in the game that increases the value of your bet by double, but which means that in the Mystery Symbol feature, the player will benefit from symbols being only high value or Wild symbols (more on this feature is detailed below). With Win Booster Activated, Spins cost from 0.20 to 30.00 per spin.
We also know that the slot is aimed to be a more medium variance game rather than a higher variance slot as tends to be the case with some progressives. This fits in nicely with the standard for Mega Moolah slots which generally tend to play a little looser than some other progressive games (which can really take a chunk out of a bankroll at times).
With a fresh new soundtrack to accompany the game, there is a lovely balance struck between celebrating the original game and its main features and offering players something new, innovative and exciting.
Symbols
The symbols on the reels can be stacked and they start with the lower value symbols, which are the playing card low symbols. These are the the heart, spade, club and diamond symbols. The higher value symbols are all on a steampunk theme and include a mechanical gun, an airship and a treasure chest.
The highest two value symbols are the characters Maximilian and Victoria. These both pay from 0.9x to 8x your stake on a single pay line but these symbols can be stacked five symbols high on the reels and as such, it is possible to win across multiple pay lines from a single spin and indeed, this is the best way to win big in the base game.
Alongside the standard symbols there is also a standard Wild and a Jackpot Wild symbol. These substitute for the standard symbols above and can offer you a better chance of landing a win when landed on the reels. You can win up to 20x your stake when landing Wilds on the pay lines.
- Mystery symbol
One of the key selling points of the game is the Mystery Symbol. These can land on any spin and initially have a ? as their symbol on the reel. However, at the end of the spin, all examples of these symbols on the reel will transform into another symbol in the game (if you have Win Booster activated, they only become high value symbols or Wilds). You can then match these symbols with others on the reels to trigger additional wins.
With Win Booster activated the mystery symbols are coloured gold, but without it activated they are coloured green and can show any symbol as a mystery symbol including all the lower value symbols.
Free Spins sonus
To trigger the Free Spins bonus you need to land three, four or five of the Scatter symbols anywhere across the reels. Initially, you will receive a payout for this feat of 2x, 20x or 100x your total bet depending on the number of Scatters that you land (the more you land, the higher the cash prize). In addition to this payout you will also trigger 10 Free Spins.
During your Free Spins you will also have one, two or three Mystery Reels in play. The number you have is decided by the number of Scatters landed to trigger the bonus. Three Scatters sees one Mystery Reel, four sees two Mystery Reels and land all five Scatters to trigger three Mystery Reels.
During each Free Spin, the Mystery Reels on screen all change to the same symbol on each Free Spin (and with Win Booster active, this means they will only be high value symbols). Furthermore, each time you land a Scatter on the reels, you will receive one additional Free Spin.
There is one other secret that the Mystery Symbol also holds in Fortunium Gold and that is that it is also the key to triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game.
Triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game in Fortunium Gold
When you land a Mystery Symbol it can transform into any symbol on the reels (or a high value symbol with Win Booster activated) but it can also turn into a special symbol called a Jackpot Wild symbol. When this lands on the reels, you have triggered the Jackpot Bonus Wheel and are taken to a new screen.
On the screen is a steampunk-inspired wheel that has different sectors, the most common sectors are for the Mini and Minor jackpot while three sectors mean a Major jackpot win while the single sector means a Mega jackpot win. Simply spin the wheel, in the tradition of Mega Moolah slots, to see which of the four jackpots you will win.
There is no doubt that the world is eagerly awaiting this new addition to the Fortunium and Mega Moolah range of games and with just a week to wait, we can't wait to run the rule over the game and give it a thorough testing!
Keep your eyes peeled then for our review and play-through of this exciting new Microgaming slot.
