How does the Win Booster feature work in slots and where can I try it out?
Did you know that one of the most searched for items in the slots industry according to search engine giant Google, is anything to do with improving your chances of winning at a slot game?
Phrases such as "Slot Cheats", "Slot Hacks" or "Guaranteed Win Slots" all rank very highly among search terms, even though those searches ultimately prove fruitless.
The reason for that being of course is that casinos and slots development companies are extremely careful to ensure that their slot games cannot be cheated, plus even if someone does find a way to cheat the system, the terms and conditions of the game mean that if a player lands a win on a slot that has been modified, cheated, or simply produces an error, then that win will be declared null and void.
Even so, despite this foolproof method and the fact that companies like eCogra will check the integrity of any slot game long before it hits casinos, players are still desperately searching for ways to offer themselves at least a chance of bigger cash prizes when they play their slot games.
So, with that in mind it is perhaps surprising that slots developers have not come up with a feature in slot games that offers players a better chance of a bigger value win. Well, in actual fact, they have and it is called the Win Booster feature.
What is a Win Booster feature?
A Win Booster feature is an option that players can elect to use, or not use, when they play a slot game that offers the feature. The term Win Booster is not used on every slot, on some games, a different term may be used to describe the bonus such as "Free Spins Booster" or "Power Spin" but essentially, they all refer to similar things.
That is that you will pay more for a spin using the feature, but as a result of that, the chances of you winning the higher value prizes in the game are increased.
How much more expensive to play is a Win Booster Feature?
Of course, if you are going to play a version of a slot game which offers you a higher chance of landing the top prizes in the game, then the amount you pay for a spin will also increase to compensate for the higher risk to the casino. However, the amount that your standard bet will increase by depends very much on the slot game in question and the amount of added benefit a player has when activating the Win Booster feature.
In some games, the Win Booster feature may only cost you a relatively small amount, such as 50% of your total standard bet amount. For smaller stakes players, this may mean that the increase is very small, from say 0.10 per spin up to 0.15 per spin. However, if you are a higher stakes player then that increase can be much more significant, say from 20.00 per spin to 30.00 per spin.
As such, you need to carefully consider whether the extra cost of playing the Win Booster feature on your game is worth it based on the size of the standard bet you want to make.
Remember though, you can change your standard bet size so that it is smaller in value and that with the Win Booster activated, it only amounts to a similar amount to what you would bet in the standard game. That is certainly feasible if you are betting more than the minimum bet on many Win Booster enhanced slots, but remember that your winning amount when you land a win will be based on this smaller bet size.
This is another key factor to remember with the Win Booster option and that is that even though you are paying more per spin, your win amounts are still based on the standard bet amount without the Win Booster added. So for example, if you play for 1.00 per spin and have a be Win Booster of 50% in play, you will pay 1.50 per spin, but any win you land will be calculated on your wager amount of 1.00.
What are the main benefits of a Win Booster feature?
Broadly speaking, activating a Win Booster feature on a game, whatever it is called, will generally give you access to higher value wins more readily. However, there may be a down side to this in that in some games, this may also mean that you can't win those lower to medium amounts as readily as you can in the standard game.
Of course, you should also remember that just because you have Win Booster activated, does not mean that the bonus will pay dividends for you. The slot remains a random game and as such, it doesn't necessarily mean you have more chance of bigger value wins, it means that if you land a win, it is more likely to be a bigger value win, a small but subtle and important difference.
For example if you play a slot that tends to offer on average around 10 wins from 30 spins, and 9 wins of these are lower value, playing the Win Booster may mean that you hit just 3-5 wins, but they may be higher in value than the more numerous wins you'd land in the base game.
In truth, the benefits of a Win Booster are very different from one slot game that offers the feature to the next and it is impossible to make a generic valuation on how much the feature can benefit you. In some games the Win Booster may improve your chances of bigger value wins, but in others it may just increase your chances of landing a Free Spins bonus round or other type of bonus (such as Progressive Jackpot bonus game).
Is it worth playing the Win Booster option?
This is a good and sensible question to ask yourself and again, in truth, it depends very much on the slot game in question, the range of benefits the Win Booster option offers you, any negatives using the feature has on your game and of course, the actual cost per spin of the bonus feature itself. It is only by judging each of these different aspects of the game that you can come to a decision as to whether the Win Booster is an option you would consider to use.
Many slots gamers do prefer to play any Win Booster option when it is available, even if it means reducing the size of their standard bet to cover the extra cost of the Win Booster option. However, finding reliable data that suggests Win Booster offers a better or worse experience for players is almost impossible and entirely subjective.
Which Games offer a Win Booster or similar option?
The Win Booster option is a tricky one as it is available on a relatively small number of slot games nowadays and unfortunately, due to some recent changes to laws on slots in some parts of the world, some of these features may well not be available on selected games. In the UK for example, some similar Win Booster features on some recently released games in the country have not been made available to UK players.
That small issue aside, there are a number of games you can play that offer a Win Booster option or similar:
- Wheel of Wishes - The famous Wowpot progressive jackpot slot has its own Win Booster feature called "Power Spin Mode" which allows you to play the game in the mode usually triggered in the base game after you have landed two or more of the Jackpot Wheel Scatters on the reels. However, this is not a cheap option as playing Power Spin Mode increases the cost of your bet by 10x the standard amount. So if you are playing for 0.10 per spin, a Power Spin bet is 1.00. Power Spin mode removes the chance to win low value symbol wins, but does mean if you land a win, they will be of five-symbol wins across the reels at the very least.
- Fortunium Gold Mega Moolah - With the newest Mega Moolah powered slot you have the first opportunity to use a Win Booster feature when playing for the Mega Moolah jackpot. This option costs you 50% of your standard bet size and means that when you land Mystery Symbols on the reels in any facet of the game, they will only turn into high value symbols or Wild symbols.
- 3 Tiny Gods - The option here is to buy the Free Spins round directly without having to play the base game. It is called the Bonus Buy feature and costs a whopping 75x your stake, but when used will activate a Free Spins bonus round which could see you win more or less than that triggering bet.
- Aliya's Wishes - Use the Win Booster in Aliya's Wishes and you pay double the amount of your standard bet and while it does not offer any immediate benefits in the base game, it does kick in when you trigger a Free Spins bonus. With the Win Booster activated the Multiplier Trail in the game for Free Spins increases from 2x, 5x, 8x and 21x as standard up to 5x, 12x, 21x and 50x with the Booster activated.
Some older titles that also feature Win Booster options or similar include Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx, Deco Diamonds Deluxe, Dragon Shard, Lucha Legends and Fortunium.
You can play all of these games at any of the Mega Moolah casinos found on our Where to Play page.
