How independent studios add to Microgaming's creative genius
When Microgaming developed the world's first online casino platform in the mid-1990s, there was no way to know for sure that their incredible innovation would transform casino gambling. But it did.
The company took another huge step forward by introducing the very first mobile casino software a decade later. From 1994 through 2004, the gambling world had a front row seat to observe Microgaming's creative genius.
Some 16 years after releasing that mobile casino, Microgaming continues to be a leading innovator. Yet these days, they don't do it alone. They rely on a variety of industry partners who add to their creative genius. Among those partners are a number of independent game studios that distribute their content exclusively through Microgaming.
A mutually beneficial arrangement
You might be wondering why Microgaming and independent studios would work together. After all, wouldn't their ventures be more profitable if they worked separately? Actually, no. Working together creates more opportunities in more markets. That means more revenues and profits for both.
For their part, Microgaming gets a lot from signing partnership deals with independent studios. Think of it in terms of outsourcing. Microgaming has its own staff of in-house game developers that continuously churn out some of the best titles in the business. Yet those developers can only do so much.
Meanwhile, independent studios are also developing new games. By signing a studio as a partner, Microgaming gains access to some excellent new titles without having to add staff or push its own developers to do more. They rely on independent studios as outsourcing partners of sorts. Doing so is that which affords them the opportunity to release so many new games every year.
As far as the studios are concerned, partnering with a company like Microgaming brings a ton of potential to the table. An independent studio could go it alone by reaching separate deals with as many distributors as they could find. But that is not as easy as it sounds. Microgaming is one of the largest companies of its type in the gambling sector. They have one of largest distribution networks as well.
Signing with Microgaming offers an independent studio instant access to worldwide distribution. They don't mind producing content exclusively for Microgaming because they know that the payoff is there. They can concentrate on producing fantastic, innovative games instead of having to work out independent distribution deals with multiple distributors.
Microgaming's current studio partners
A perusal of Microgaming's website reveals no fewer than 10 independent studio partners. We thought it might be interesting to take a brief look at each one. So without further ado, here they are:
1. Alchemy Gaming
Alchemy Gaming is an up-and-coming studio that describes itself as inventive, quirky, calculated, and passionate. They were founded by a group of mathematicians who also consider themselves gaming alchemists. If you are not sure what an alchemist is, have a search online.
The people behind the company say their developers balance unique mechanics with the latest in audio visuals to create "the gold standard in gaming experiences" for players. That is quite a lofty goal. Microgaming apparently believes it is a goal Alchemy Gaming can achieve.
Their initial offering for the Microgaming platform is a video slot known as Wheel of Wishes. The game offers low volatility, stunning graphics, mesmerising animations, and 10 pay lines of entertaining slot action. The Wheel of Wishes slot is the perfect complement to Microgaming's line-up thanks to its 2 million credit jackpot minimum. We have a lot of news and video about the Wheel of Wishes slot, see our Wheel of Wishes news page.
2. Neon Valley Studios
As an independent global game studio, Neon Valley Studios seeks to bring the Las Vegas vibe to the online community with a range of slick, well packaged games based on cutting-edge technology. The studio's developers purposely seek to inject the quirkiness and glamor of the Las Vegas strip into each of their creations.
Neon Valley describes itself as a studio with plenty of energy. The development team is made up of highly skilled and experienced professionals with the necessary industry knowledge to deliver world-class games that make a statement.
They currently have some great titles distributed by Microgaming. The most famous one being the Mega Moolah powered Atlantean Treasure slot, which has already given up a massive NZ$13.6 million win. The second game is Aurora Wilds. This game is all about nature and the great White North. It is themed around the idea of the northern lights illuminating a beautiful night sky with a breath-taking mountain view. And there's the Age of Conquest, a video slot themed around mysticism and sorcery.
3. Gameburger Studios
Next up is Gameburger studios, a studio that aims to serve up great gaming content with American style. And when they think America, they think big and bold. They think 'in your face'. They are so passionate about their brand that they chose a hamburger to be the centrepiece of their logo.
Gameburger Studios currently has four titles in the Microgaming line-up. These are: 11 Champions, 9 Pots of Gold, 9 Masks of Fire, and Break da Bank Again Respin. Each title offers up the company's unique perspective on video slots. If you are a 'go big or go home' kind of person, you are going to love what Gameburger Studios brings to the table.

6. Switch Studios
At Switch Studios it is all about real-money table games. That makes this studio somewhat unique. Perhaps that's why Microgaming appreciates them so much. The Switch team consists of men and women with a wealth of knowledge in both online gambling and social gaming.
This UK studio has already produced 10 titles for Microgaming. Their game inventory includes multiple iterations of blackjack such as European Blackjack, roulette, and baccarat. Let's hope they go further by delving into other tables games too.

The professionals at Fortune Factory Studios all come from land-based casino and video gaming environments. They market themselves as a passionate team seeking to create highly entertaining games using advanced math models and the latest in visual aesthetics.
Fortune Factory's mission statement speaks of creating player-centric games that are both engaging and intuitive. Their mission also calls for iteration, which is to say they are continually seeking to improve every product in their inventory. They are not content with standing pat.
The Fortune Factory inventory currently consists of Aliya's Wishes, Tiki Mania, Long Mu Fortunes, Village People: Macho Moves, Showdown Saloon, Romanov Riches, and Holly Jolly Penguins.
8. Slingshot Studios
Illustration and animation are the name of the game at Slingshot Studios. The company was formed in 2016 by a group of gambling industry veterans. Of course, they brought plenty of new blood into the company to keep things fresh. The team is dedicated to producing highly entertaining and compelling games that capture the imagination.
Slingshot Studios already has four games being distributed exclusively by Microgaming. These are Banana Odyssey, A Dark Matter, Zombie Hoard, and Cash of Kingdoms.
9. Storm Craft Studios
The Storm Craft Studios team is made up of "slot enthusiasts who are driven by a passion for quality and innovation." Each member of the team has significant industry experience. Their main mission is to create entertaining slot games with an eye on craftsmanship and player safety.
The studio was formed in South Africa in 2016. Some of the team members came to Storm Craft with Microgaming experience under their belts, having been part of the development of what is arguably Microgaming's most prolific title: Mega Moolah. Storm craft Studios has since produced seven titles for Microgaming including Football Star Deluxe, and Jungle Jim.
10. Triple Edges Studios
Last but not least is Triple Edges Studios. If you have played titles like Book of Oz and Attack on Retro, you are already familiar with this studio. Microgaming includes five Triple Edge games on their platform.
The studio bills itself as a team of passionate and committed professionals who employ market research, analysis, and technical skills to create blockbuster, multi-channel gaming experiences. The team seeks to inspire and entertain with each new game they produce.
As you can see, Microgaming is not short of independent studios capable of producing great games. All of their studio partners are up to the task. And with every new game they produce, they prove they belong in the Microgaming family. You benefit from their hard work whenever you play a partner game.
