# How often is the Major Jackpot won?

With a recent jackpot payout of CA\$3.3 million and US\$12.9 million following on from a payout in January of over CA\$20 million, it is little wonder that the vast majority of the focus in recent times, and throughout the game's long history, has been on Mega Moolah's Mega Jackpot prize.

After all, there are very few prizes you can win for just a 0.25 bet that could see you earn a life-changing amount of money from just one single spin.

However, in among all the focus on the Mega Moolah top jackpot prize, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that the slot also has three other progressive jackpot prizes available. While the Mini and Minor prizes are never going to result in a huge amount of money for any player that lands them (both these prizes are won several times a day and the Mini prize is paid out many times across the course of the day), it is often forgotten that the Major progressive prize on Mega Moolah is often considerably more money than you will find available to win on a vast range of other slots.

Mega Moolah's Major Jackpot

While many people are already aware that the Mega Jackpot has a seed amount of 1,000,000 and that it can often see prizes far greater than that (as the last three jackpot winners have proved), far less is known about the Major Jackpot.

This second-largest jackpot prize on the Mega Moolah slot is seeded at 10,000, which is a hundred times smaller than the Mega jackpot. However, given that it can cost you as little as 0.25 to win this sum of money, that is still an incredible return on your investment. Land the prize on a spin of 0.25 and assuming the Major Jackpot is just 10,000, you would receive a cash pay-out of 40,000 times your bet.

That is a return that almost any other slot game you care to mention is going to struggle to match.

However, those figures are based on the bare minimum amount that you could win with the Major Jackpot, in actual fact, the average win on this jackpot is usually around 20,000 to 50,000, so in actual fact the average return is around 80,000 to 200,000 times your stake (for a 0.25 bet).

How often is the Major Jackpot won?

Unlike the Mega jackpot prize, which is won on average just a handful of times each year, the Major Jackpot prize on Mega Moolah offers players far more chance of a sizeable win. On average, the Major Jackpot prize is awarded once every one to two days, although it there can be a much longer wait between wins at certain times, much like how the Mega Jackpot can have several wins close together and then a longer period without a win.

However, even if we go to the upper end of this estimate and say that the jackpot is won every two days, that means that you would still have 15 jackpot prizes in a typical month and each jackpot prize would be worth an average of between 20,000 and 50,000. That is a huge amount of money that is given away by the Mega Moolah slot to lucky winners and remember, this is all in addition to the cash paid out for the other three progressive jackpots, as well as in the base game too.

How high can the Major Jackpot go?

We already know that the Major Jackpot is seeded with a figure of 10,000 and of course, that is the minimum amount you can win playing the game. We also know, that with the jackpot won on average every day and the average jackpot tends to be around 20,000 to 50,000. However, there are times when the jackpot is not triggered and then its value can increase quite a bit. There have been many jackpot prizes above 50,000.

Why does the jackpot climb this high? Well although the award of the Major Jackpot prize is entirely independent to the award of any of the other progressive jackpots in the game, the size of the jackpot does increase more slowly when there are fewer spins being played on the slot and of course, it also increases more rapidly when there are more spins being played on Mega Moolah.

So in the times when the Mega Jackpot is very high and attracting a large number of players and more spins in any given period of time, so too will the pace at which the other jackpots increase. If that so happens to coincide with a period where the Major Jackpot does not pay out for a few days or so, then that can quickly increase the size of the jackpot beyond the average amount.

All four of the Mega Moolah progressives are inextricably linked to the number of spins played on the game (and the amount bet on each of these spins). The more spins played and the more people bet on these spins, then the faster each of the progressives will grow.

However, it can also happen that the Major Jackpot can increase at quieter times too as there is no telling when the slot will not award the jackpot for a few days. When this happens, the jackpot prize will still increase, but it just won't increase quite as quickly as when this occurs during the busier times for the game.

Are my chances of landing the Major Jackpot the same as the Mega jackpot?

No, you have far greater chance of landing the Major Jackpot than you do the Mega prize, as is clearly evidence every month in the number of daily wins of this particular progressive prize. However, you also have far more chance on any spin of the Jackpot Bonus Wheel, of landing the Minor or Mini prize than you do the Major.

This is the same with any kind of wagering game. For example, on the National Lottery, you have far more chance of landing a free ticket for hitting two numbers, or landing a £20 prize for landing three, compared to hitting all six numbers and winning the jackpot, or hitting five numbers and the bonus ball for a smaller prize.

Is the Major Jackpot won any differently to the Mega Jackpot?

Not really. You can win any of the four jackpots on the Mega Moolah slot by spinning the Jackpot Bonus Wheel. If you land in one of the three orange segments on the screen, then you win the Major prize. To win the Mega jackpot, you need to land in that single white segment.

You can't increase your chances of landing the Major Jackpot when you trigger the Jackpot Bonus game in Mega Moolah, however by increasing the size of your bet, or playing more spins, or both, you can increase your chances of triggering the bonus game itself.

Given that the Major Jackpot can provide some serious cash for lucky winners, and on a far more regular basis than the Mega Jackpot prize, we feel that the Major Jackpot is often overlooked when playing the game. However it should not be as with a potential prize of 40,000x and up to 200,000x your 0.25 stake, that is an incredible amount of money to win as a consolation!
