How to play the Wheel of Wishes Wowpot jackpot slot

If you are familiar with how slot games work, then you may think that playing a game like the new Wheel of Wishes progressive slot from Microgaming and Alchemy Gaming, is simply a case of hitting the spin button, crossing your fingers and hoping that the progressive gods decide to favour you.

However, given the way that the new Wheel of Wishes slot is set up (read about game-play and read about the game features), especially when compared to other Microgaming progressive's such as Mega Moolah, it is clear that this is not the case and because of that, there are some things that a player needs to consider before they actually decide to spend any money on the slot at all.

The key thing to realise is that you can play Wheel of Wishes in two different ways. That is because there are essentially two different game modes available for you to play, depending on how much you would like to spend playing the game per spin and how much you wish to increase your chances of triggering the Wheel of Wishes bonus game. The modes available are Base Game Mode and Power Mode and there are significant differences between the two, as we will explore in more detail below.

Playing in Base Game Mode

In the Base Game mode, the cost per spin on the slot ranges from 0.10 per spin up to 25.00 per spin and you will play what appears to be a standard 5x3 reel slot. There are the usual mix of lower value and higher value symbols on the reels, the lower value being the four playing card symbols, plus the circle, while the higher value symbols are the items, all of which are linked in to the overarching Arabian theme of the slot.

In addition to these standard symbols, there are a couple of symbols with bonuses attached to them. The first is the Wild symbol, which appears across all the reels and can substitute for any of the standard symbols to help create a winning line. In addition to that, if you can land three, four or five Wilds on the reels you can win a prize of between 4x and 50x your total bet.

The other symbol to watch is the Power Symbol Scatter. This can land on any of the five reels and if you manage to hit two of these symbols, you will trigger the Power Mode spin. However, if you land three or more, you will also win a cash prize alongside triggering the Power Mode and this ranges from 5x your total bet to a massive 500x your total bet if you can land five of these symbols across the reels.

Once you have triggered the Power Mode bonus, you will then play one spin in that mode (more details of which are outlined in the section below). It is in this mode of the game alone, that you can trigger the Wheel of Wishes jackpot bonus game.

Once you have played your Power Mode spin, the game will then revert back to the base game mode and you can continue spinning. Wins on the reels in base game mode range from a fraction of your total bet (about 0.5x your bet), up to a maximum win of 10x your total bet on the standard symbols, with the two feature symbols offering considerably greater value wins.

Playing In Power Mode

The other option available to you to play the Wheel of Wishes slot is to eschew playing the base game in entirety and instead go direct to the Power Mode. You can do this by clicking the little red button to the bottom left of the reels. When this mode is activated the reel set will change to the first and fifth reels, plus the single large reel in the middle with the super-sized symbols on.

The key thing to note in power mode is that every spin could see you potentially trigger a shot at the Wheel of Wishes jackpot bonus game, if you can land the Power Scatter symbol in full on the middle reel. If not, then the only way you can win is by matching symbols on the first and fifth reels with at least part of the same symbol on the middle three reels.

If you can land more or all of a symbol that matches the symbols on the outer reels, then you can land a sizeable win as you will pay out across multiple pay lines for five symbols on each, which of course means a much larger pay out than landing three symbols on a single pay line as tends to happen in the base game.

However, playing in Power Mode is not cheap and this means that to play this mode will cost you ten times more than the standard mode, which is a range of 1.00 to 250.00 per spin. Although the flip side is that every spin you have, could give you a shot at the Wheel of Wishes Jackpot Bonus game.

What is the best method to play?

The fact that there are two ways to play the Wheel of Wishes slot does offer a different game-play experience for players and these are also quite different in terms of how volatile the slot is and of course, your chances of triggering the big jackpot bonus game.

The base game is considerably cheaper to play and does offer more of the mid-value wins that can keep your bankroll going. However, big wins in the base game are harder to come by and are reliant on landing the Scatter symbol at least three, if not four times across the reels. However, this game mode is arguably the best choice for those on a more limited budget and who will gain a lot from those regular mid-to-lower value wins.

The Power Mode is a more expensive option but is an ideal choice for players that want to have maximum opportunity to trigger the Jackpot Bonus game. It is much more volatile, if you hit several spins without a win here, it can take a big chunk out of your bankroll, but if you do land a win, then you are more likely to land a bigger value win as it will be across all five reels at the very least and potentially on multiple lines.

As such, I feel Power Mode is best suited to players who are more comfortable with wagering larger amounts per spin and for whom, chasing the jackpot prize is the only consideration.

However, personally, I feel mixing up the modes, playing a few Power Mode spins and also playing the base game, offers the best of both worlds and allows you to enjoy all that the Wheel of Wishes slot has to offer in full.
