Presentation

The presentation of the Lady Earth slot is nicely done. Crazy Tooth Studios have given the game a technological, space-age outlook and combined it with more earthly elements. Set against a starry backdrop, Lady Earth looks on from the left of the reels keeping a close eye on what is going on.

The musical accompaniment is very Jean-Michel Jarre styled and it is a nice accompaniment to the game creating the right amount of wonder and tension. The main controls of the slot are to the bottom and right of the reels and overall the slot looks and sounds excellent.

What is on the reels?

There are eight standard symbols on the reel, one passive symbol and the Scatter symbol which unlocks a chance at the Lady Earth Bonus round.

The standard symbols include a lizard, fish, scorpion, rabbit and four symbols that represent the four elements, earth, air, fire and water. Of these fire and water are the highest value of the symbols paying up to 2.75x your bet for every pay line that you can land five of these symbols on.

These win amounts seem small and that is because that the aim of the game is to land these symbols on multiple pay lines thanks to the Respin Insanity bonus round, which we will explain in more detail below.

However, one negative point here is that there is a symbol on the reels that does not pay out anything. This is called the passive symbol and essentially, it simply serves as a block on you landing wins on any pay lines that it lands on. The more of these symbols you land on a spin, the less chance you have of hitting a win either in the base game or in the Respins Insanity bonus feature.

Free Spins features

While there is no Free Spin feature on the Lady Earth slot there is a Respin bonus round called Respin Insanity, which triggers each time that you land a win on the reels.

In Respin Insanity, all the symbols that make up your win are locked together and res-pun once. A different symbol will appear on the reels. If this is the same as some of the symbols on the remainder of the reels, then these symbols now pay out and are joined to the symbols that you are re-spinning.

You get to respin the bonus each time you add a symbol to the win, however the bonus ends when you fail to add a symbol to the last respin win, or you cannot possibly land any more symbols to the win (due to passive symbols on the reel most likely).

The other main bonus feature of the slot is the Lady Earth Bonus game which is triggered when you land three or more of the Mother Earth Scatter symbols on the first, third and fifth reels. This bonus is a selection game where you get to pick from 9 options on a 3x3 grid. You can win multipliers, tokens (which pay a cash sum) or cash sums or hit a skull.

When you have collected four tokens to complete the map on the screen, you can move onto the next level of this five-level game. The higher the level you reach without picking three skulls, the more chance you have of landing the higher value wins in this bonus feature. Once you have picked three skulls in total across the levels, the game will end, and you will return to the base game.

Best feature of the Lady Earth slot

There is no doubt that Crazy Tooth are hoping that the Respin Insanity part of the Lady Earth slot will be the difference maker here and while it is a nice way of enhancing the value of a win in the base game (and triggers a lot more frequently than standard Free Spins games do), there is one big negative against this feature and it is the passive symbols, which if you land them in any number can stymie any hopes you have of a decent win from the bonus. The Lady Earth bonus is a decent one but is another that is tough to win a large amount of money from. Of the two, the sheer fact that Respin Insanity triggers more often means it is the best bonus in the game.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a standard slot game that has the usual bonus features, then Lady Earth is not going to be your thing and you should look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a different challenge, with some unusual bonuses and new features that changes how a standard slot plays out, then Lady Earth is most definitely worth a closer look. There are some frustrating aspects of the game, notably those passive symbols, but it is unusual and good fun to play and can lead to some decent value wins, especially in the Respin Insanity round.
