Lost Vegas slot comes with two game modes; Zombie or Survivor
It is actually rather surprising how many top slot games are based on scary, spooky or downright ghoulish themes.
Microgaming have released a number of these games over the years themselves, such as the excellent Halloween slot, and other companies have followed suit and so the paranormal/horror genre is particularly well served when it comes to slot games.
Lost Vegas is one of the most intriguing additions to this particular group of games. Based in the city of Las Vegas but at the time of a Zombie apocalypse. You can get to play this game in one of two modes, either as a survivor, or as one of the undead and depending on which mode you select, that will govern which bonus features are active in your game. Don't worry too much though as you can switch between modes at any point in your session at the click of a button.
With a number of different bonus features in each game mode and a sizeable bet range from just 0.30 per spin up to 45.00 per spin, this is a game that is suited to all pockets and bankrolls. So, is this game one that is going to give you the creeps, or would you have to be brainless to miss out on playing it?
We decided to head to the Zombie-infested Sin City to find out.

Presentation
The presentation of the Lost Vegas slot is excellent. The setting for the slot is the rather gloomy, overcast halls of a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas casino (or a street, if you play as a Zombie), still recognisable but somehow eerily different. The music also adds to the rather mysterious and foreboding atmosphere, although it also manages to capture a little of the dark humour that is in the slot too.
The reels are superimposed over this backdrop and they are pretty standard reels, although the symbols that appear on them depend on what game mode you have picked. Each symbol has its corresponding symbol that pays the same in each game mode, so there isn't one mode that offers a better chance of a bigger win.
What is on the reels?
There are the usual mix of symbols on the reels and in both game modes, the lower value symbols are represented by the playing card symbols which go from 10 through to the Ace. Wins for just three symbols are on the small side however so you need to hit those five-symbol combinations with the lower value symbols to stand a chance of a profit.
There are five higher value symbols and these change depending on what game mode you are in. In the Zombie mode this includes zombie versions of a married couple, a showgirl, a nurse, a sheriff and my personal favourite, an Elvis impersonator. In the survivor mode the symbols change to a golfer, a blonde haired lady, a gangster type, a brown haired lady and a chiselled gentleman.
There are two other key symbols on the reels, a Scatter symbol and the in game Wild, which we will look at in more detail below.
Wild features
The Lost Vegas logo is the Wild symbol in the game and it offers payouts of up to 10x your bet if you can land three or more across the reel. In addition, you can also use the Wild as a substitute for other symbols in the game, regardless of the game mode, and of course this can lead to some sizeable wins.
Unfortunately, there are no multipliers used in conjunction with Wild wins which is a little disappointing, but there are a couple of other bonuses to make up for it.
Free Spins features
There are two Free Spins features in the slot and they are dependent on which game mode you play. You trigger Free Spins in the same way regardless of the game mode, by hitting three or more of the Scatters across the reels on any spin.
In survivors mode, you get the Free Spins with Stash feature. On your Free Spins any of the lower value playing card symbols, when landed, are removed from the reels and add cash to your stash. These are pays in addition to the combination that you wins in the bonus round and at the end of your Free Spins, you will receive your Stashed Cash amount as well as your normal winnings.
In Zombie mode, you get the Free Spins with Infection feature. This is where if you land a full stack of a Zombie on any of the reels, you will infect another reel and when you infect a reel, all the Wilds on the reel turn from single Wilds into Stacked Wilds, offering you a chance to earn some big money.
In both bonuses, you don't receive a set number of Free Spins but rather you play through the bonus until you have either stashed all the Playing Card symbols in the survivor mode, or infected all the reels in the Zombie mode.
There are also two randomly triggered bonuses in the game and these bonuses can occur whatever game mode you are playing.
The Blackout bonus can occur on any spin and when it does all the high symbols landed on that spin will award you a cash prize, and also if you land just one Scatter, you will trigger Free Spins.
The Zombie Fist of Cash will see a Zombie hand punch through the reels holding a wad of cash and when it does, you will receive a random cash prize from the bonus. This bonus is also entirely random and can occur on any spin.
Best feature of the Lost Vegas slot
I don't really feel there is a best feature on the Lost Vegas slot as I think all the features enhance the game in their own way. I like the fact you can change game mode, I like both the Free Spins bonus games as they are different to each other and worth playing given that fact. Also the two random base-game bonuses are also excellent and liven up the game a great deal. The slot also plays very neatly, and although most wins are small, you do get the occasional bigger value win to help keep your balance topped up. The best feature of this slot is therefore, how it all links together into producing a fine game.
Conclusion
Lost Vegas is a hugely enjoyable slot that has proven to be a real hit with fans since its release. It has the perfect mix of ghoulish humour, fun gaming and is full to the brim with bonus features, all of which offer the player decent rewards. This is one game you should not miss.
