Lucky player lands massive Major Millions jackpot win
If you are a slot gamer and keen on winning the massive progressive jackpot prizes, then you will no doubt have been keeping close tabs on the Mega Moolah jackpot as it has crept on wards and upwards throughout the past few months, reaching over £11.3 million at the time of writing, and it's still growing!
However, another of Microgaming's popular line of progressive games, the Major Millions slot, has also been setting new records with the jackpot growing to a record level of £2.8 million in recent weeks and this week, one lucky player managed to trigger the jackpot!
Details about the win are sketchy at the moment but we do know that the winner is not based in the British Isles as their total win amounted to 1,445,521.37. All of which means that there is still a very healthy £1.3 million-plus remaining in the Major Millions progressive fund to seed the next big jackpot win.
Major Millions is another of Microgaming's jackpot games that regularly offers jackpot prizes of over a million pounds or more, so with that in mind, let's learn a little more about this popular military-themed slot game.
Major Millions Slot
The first thing to note is that there is not one Major Millions slot, but in actual fact there are two versions you can play. There is a three-reel version of the slot as well as a five-reel version, but the good news is that you can play either version of the game and regardless of what game you play, you will still have the same chance of triggering the Major Millions progressive jackpot.
- 3- Reel Version
Both slots are based on a military theme, but the three-reel version is aimed at fans of more retro-styled slot gaming as it contains a number of more retro-styled symbols on the reels including single, double and treble bar symbols, the lucky 7 symbol (in a trio of different colours) and cherries.
The key to the big jackpot is the Major Millions symbol which appears on all three reels. There is a total of three pay lines in play and you can play one, two or three lines per spin, however to win the progressive jackpot you need to play all three lines at a fixed cost of £1.00 per line, which means a bet of £3.00 per spin.
You win the progressive jackpot by landing the three Major Millions Wild symbols on the third pay line of the slot.
- 5-Reel Version
The 5-reel version of Major Millions is more obviously based on the military and does away with the retro-styled symbols and replaces them with different symbols, all of which are linked to the army, navy and air force in some way.
The slot is a 5-reel slot and it has a total of 15 separate pay lines, which can be selected individually to be played on each spin. The only bet you can make is a bet of 0.20 per pay line and like the 3-reel version, to be eligible to win the progressive jackpot prize, you need to cover all 15 lines with your bet (which means a maximum bet of £3.00, the same as the three-reel slot).
Symbols on the reels include binoculars, a supply box, a Major's hat, service medals, top secret documents, a tank, an aircraft, a warship and lastly the Major himself who offers the largest non-progressive jackpot of the standard symbols of 1,000 coins.
There is a Scatter symbol in the game, which comes in the form of an explosion, but there is no Free Spins bonus attached to it. Instead, if you land three, four or five scatters then you will win 3x, 10x and 50x your total bet.
The Wild symbol, as in the three-reel version of the game, is the Major Millions symbol and this can substitute for any of the other symbols on the reels (apart from the Scatter) to help land wins on the reels. Furthermore, any win that is completed by a Wild will also receive a 3x multiplier, meaning you will win treble the standard amount when a Wild is part of the winning line. That's not a big deal on the lower value wins in the game, but if you land a bigger value win with a Wild, then the difference in pay out can be huge.
However, the biggest standard prize on the slot is to land five of the Major Millions Wild across any of the first 14 pay lines and for this you will win 8,000 coins. However, land the same combination of Major Millions Wilds on the 15th and final pay line and you will trigger the progressive jackpot prize.
Which game do I stand more chance of winning the Major Millions progressive jackpot on?
It may seem that the chances of landing the progressive jackpot are much more in your favour on the three-reel version of the game, but Microgaming have designed the two Major Millions slots to offer players the same chance to win the progressive jackpot prize, for the same price.
This means that you can play either game for £3 per spin and your chances of winning the big progressive prize are the same.
What's the biggest jackpot prize ever paid out in British Pounds on Major Millions?
Currently, the record cash amount won on the Major Millions slot in British Pounds was a prize of around £1.9 million. Had a British player won the last progressive prize, then they would have set a new record of a win of £2.8 million, but the fact a player won playing a different currency means the value of that win was around the £1.4 million mark.
Having been won, does this mean the Major Millions jackpot won't be won again for a while?
Many people believe that when a progressive jackpot is won, particularly a very large one, that the software will not allow the jackpot to be triggered again until either a certain amount of time has elapsed, or the slot has taken a certain amount of money from customers.
This is an erroneous belief as the jackpot on any Microgaming game can be won on any spin at any time, regardless of how long or short a time after it was last triggered and regardless of how much money is in the actual jackpot prize fund.
So, what this means is if you want to try your hand for the £1.3 million remaining in the Major Millions prize fund, then your chances of winning (provided you bet the £3 maximum on each spin) is the same as everybody else.
