Mega Moolah jackpot is well past the 5m mark & why now is the time to play it!

You may recall that last week we wrote an article when the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize climbed back to be the jackpot king?

Well since then the jackpot has continued to climb at an incredible rate and now it has crashed through the 5 million barrier, offering more than a million more than the Wheel of Wishes slot and four million more than Major Millions or King Cashlot.

It may not seem like a big deal, especially when you consider that the Mega Moolah jackpot prize regularly creeps towards or past the 10 million mark and has at times reached the 15m and once even over 20 million, but in actual fact the Mega Moolah jackpot climbing past the 5 million mark is a noteworthy event.

That's because of all the documented wins that we have details on (and we're pretty sure almost all the top wins are included in this list), 38 of those wins have been for a value of under 5 million. That is over half of all Mega Moolah triggers.

Indeed, depending on how you want to look at the figures and calculate your 'average' win amount, you could argue that the Mega Moolah is perhaps slightly overdue a win, which is somewhat crazy considering that in May 2020 we had three huge winners in the same month for only the second time in the game's long history.

We have had 26 confirmed winners of the jackpot prize that have landed a win of 5 million or more, which goes to show that should the next winner land their prize in the next few days, they will have won more than the majority of other Mega Moolah jackpot prize winners, at least in numerical terms.

However, while reaching the 5 million mark is a big moment for Mega Moolah players, it is the sheer speed at which the game has reached that figure, from a relatively low starting point just a couple of weeks ago, that is truly the amazing factor to consider with the Mega Moolah progressive network.

Mega Moolah's incredible Progressive Jackpot value increase

If there is one thing guaranteed to drain even a hefty progressive jackpot prize pool, then it is a number of big money winners of that jackpot prize one after the other. While brilliant for the players involved who saw their dreams come true with a massive slot win, the cumulative effect of all those wins in May 2020 saw the jackpot prize drop from almost 16.5 million right down to just 2.1 million after the third and final jackpot was paid out.

Had those winners in May landed in a different currency than the Canadian Dollar, such as the Euro or we had just one British Pound winner in among the three, then the jackpot would have reset to the seed amount of a million at some point.

However, the starting point when the last win was landed on the 27th May was 2.1 million. Since then we have had 17 days in June, plus four days in May since the jackpot was last won and in that time, we have seen an incredible 3.2 million added to the progressive jackpot fund since then.

What this means is that on average, the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize pool is increasing at around the rate of over 152,000 a day at the present moment.

That means for each week that passes, we are adding just over a million to the prize pool. That is an exciting prospect for players, but the news gets better as you also have to factor in the effect that a growing and sizeable jackpot has on players gaming habits.

The Mega Moolah "snowball effect"

While adding over 152,000 to the jackpot each day is fantastic for players, that is not where the story ends. There is one notable trend that is very visible on the Mega Moolah slot in terms of the progressive jackpot and that is that the higher the jackpot climbs, then the larger the amount of money added to the jackpot on a daily basis tends to grow.

Since Mega Moolah became hugely popular, adding so much to the jackpot each day has become the norm, more than 150,000 is an excellent and speedy rate of increase, but when the jackpot starts to climb towards that ten million mark, or even beyond it then, that rate of increase will itself speed up too.

When the jackpot reaches double digit figures in millions, the rate of increase can be as much as 200,000 a day, over a sustained period of time. In some cases, we have also seen increases of as much as 250,000 or even 300,000 in a single day, especially when the jackpot has climbed into the upper teens and towards that 20 million mark.

Why the big increase?

Of course, the reason for that is easy to understand. As the jackpot climbs, it attracts more people to try to win it and people will invest more time and money playing the game to try and win the jackpot prize. Rightly or wrongly (wrongly, as it happens), people believe that when a progressive jackpot prize reaches a high amount it is overdue to be won, and this erroneous belief makes people play more often and often play more spins to try and be the next lucky winner.

Now, we know that the Mega Jackpot can be won at any time, by any player on any spin and that there isn't a more optimum time to play the game, however there is the fact that with more players playing the game and more spins being played, there is more chance that one of those players may hit upon the lucky spin that lands the massive jackpot prize.

So, while you can see that playing at certain times doesn't increase your chances of winning, it does mean that with more spins played, there is more chance somebody will win the jackpot prize! It can frazzle the brain somewhat and it is perhaps easy to see why players do feel their chances of winning are greater when the jackpot is higher.

Other Mega Moolah facts and anomalies

Having compiled a lot of data on the game over the years, we can also notice some other trends and little anomalies within the data. Here are some interesting Mega Moolah themed facts that you may, or may not know.

  • Even though the mobile version of the Mega Moolah game came along a long time after the original desktop-based version, there have been more than double the number of mobile winners than those playing on desktop.
  • Canadian Dollar players are the luckiest when it comes to landing the Mega Moolah jackpot. Not only has this currency seen the most winners (21 recorded so far), but it has also paid out by far the highest amount in total of over CA$149 million to lucky Canadian winners. This is more than double the numerical amount of the next currency, the Euro, which has seen 14 winners landing just over €69.6 million.
  • There have been eight more winners of the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize in the period from 2017 to 2020 (36 in total) than there were in the ten years from 2007 to 2016 (28 in total). We also still have half of 2020 to pass as yet so that number is likely to increase.
  • In terms of the massive Mega Moolah Jackpot Winners, which we put as winners of 10 million or more in their chosen currency, Canadian Dollars once again top the charts with four 10 million plus winners (including the largest ever numeric win on the slot of over CA$20 million). Two New Zealand dollar players have laded wins of over $10 million, while there has been one winner of that amount in US Dollars, British Pound and the Euro.
  • 2017 saw the most triggers of a Mega Moolah jackpot in a single year with 13, this is followed by the 12 winners in 2019. So far 2020 has had four winners.
  • While we are still waiting for more details on the last two winners of the Mega Moolah jackpot prize, on the data prior to that the luckiest game to play has been the original Mega Moolah slot which has 58 total wins. Mega Moolah 5 Reel Drive has 2 confirmed wins with one win apiece on the now defunct Dark Knight slot and the brand new Atlantean Treasures slot.
  • At the moment, Isis, Summertime, Mega Vault Millionaire and Absolootly Mad are all still waiting to crown their first big jackpot winner on that particular game.
  • By far the luckiest time of the day to play the Mega Moolah slot is the time between 8pm and 9pm in the evening GMT. A total of eight jackpots have been won during this period, more than double the next most popular times.
  • Somewhat oddly, there is only one hour period during the day that has not yet produced a Mega Moolah jackpot winner and that is the period from 10am to 11am.
  • 24 winners have landed their prize in the AM GMT, while there have been 40 winners of their prize in the PM GMT.
  • We are at the tail end of the most popular period for Mega Moolah jackpot winners. The period from April to June has seen a total of 27 jackpot winners land their prize. April has had seven winners, May is the luckiest month in the calendar for Mega Moolah jackpots with 11 winners and June has had nine so far.
  • In contrast the period from July to September has seen just 10 Mega Moolah jackpots won, with 16 won from October to December and 11 won from January through to March.
  • The unluckiest months to play Mega Moolah seem to be February and July which have both seen just two winners each over the years.
  • There have been two instances of the Mega Moolah jackpot being landed on a single day, the first on the 22nd May 2017 and the second on the 19th June also in 2017.
  • A number of dates throughout the year have produced multiple Mega Moolah jackpot wins over the years. They are May 22nd, May 24th, June 17th, June 19th all of which have seen two winners over the years. The luckiest date of the year to play however is November 15th, which has seen three jackpots won over time.
  • If you are looking for the luckiest period of time over several days to play the Mega Moolah slot based on past wins, then the week from June 12 to June 19 (this week!) is the most optimal time as over the years we have seen one winner on June 12, one on June 15, two on June 17, one on June 18 and two more on June 19. That means we have more that means we have had almost 11% of all Mega Moolah winners land their prize during that week of the year over many years.

So take all these factors together, especially that last one and with the jackpot now climbing above the 5 million mark, the jackpot prize increasing at a relatively high amount each day and the fact that we are still in what has historically proven to be the luckiest time of the year to play the Mega Moolah slot in terms of jackpots triggered over the time period, little wonder then that so many slot players are seeing if lady fortune will smile on them.

Remember, you can play for the Mega Moolah jackpot on the original game, as well as the three newer released slots, Absolootly Mad, Atlantean Treasures and, provided you are a member of Casino Rewards where the game is exclusively available, the Mega Vault Millionaire slot.
