Mega Moolah winner lands a CAD 4 million jackpot on 6 September 2020!
The sixth Mega Moolah top progressive jackpot prize has been won for the sixth time in 2020! One lucky player landed a prize worth just over 4 million on the 6th September 2020. This latest win comes less than a month after a Swedish player landed a 14.2 million prize back on the 17th August.
Although details about this latest winner are sketchy, we can confirm that we have now had six Mega Jackpot winners in 2020, one in April, three in May, one in August and now this latest September winner. In total over 62.8 million has been paid out across a variety of currencies this year alone for the Mega Moolah jackpot and that is just the amount won by the Mega Jackpot winners.
Early indications suggest that this latest winner claimed their prize in Canadian Dollars, based on the amount that was let in the pot following the payment of the prize to the player. If confirmed this would be the fourth Canadian Dollar winner this year, with the other two winners landing their prizes in New Zealand Dollars and the Euro.
This latest winner is also the smallest cash prize of 2020 to be won as a top progressive jackpot prize on Mega Moolah, just a few hundred thousand short of the CA$4,480,847 amount won back in May 2020.
Of course, as yet we don't know which casino the jackpot was landed at, or whether the lucky winner will go public with their details (although based on past winners, it seems unlikely that this will be the case). However, when more details about the win are confirmed, we will bring the news to you as quickly as we can, just as we did when we learned about the big money Swedish winner back in August.
Fact file on the latest Mega Moolah jackpot winner!
- While not confirmed yet, it appears as if the latest winner landed their prize in Canadian Dollars. If that is the case, then they would be the 22nd Canadian Dollar winner of the Mega Moolah jackpot prize.
- There have been more Canadian Dollar winners of the Mega Moolah prize than any other currency. After this currency the next highest number of winners is the Euro with 15, followed by British Pounds with 9.
- In total the latest jackpot win of an unconfirmed amount of around CA$4,026,837.88 would mean that the total won by Canadian Players since the game began now crashes through the CA$150 million mark, with $153,139,170.94 won in total by all 22 winners.
- This amount is more than double the amount of money won in any other currency, with the next highest amount being the €69,600,779.43 won by Euro players.
- This latest win is also the sixth jackpot to have been claimed in September, although it is the second time that the jackpot has been won on the 6th The other time was back on 6th September 2013, when a British Pounds player won a jackpot prize of £3,744,513.08.
- Six also plays a role in the number of wins in 2020 as it is the sixth jackpot prize to be won this year. It would have been amazing had the jackpot been claimed at 6am or 6pm, but instead it was landed at around 7.30am UTC. This was the third time that the jackpot was claimed between 7am and 8am in the game's history.
- This latest winner of just over 4 million is the ninth time that the jackpot has been won between 4 million and 5 million. This is the joint-second most common amount of money that the jackpot has been won for behind 1-2 million (which has seen 16 winners) and 3-4 million, which has also seen nine winners over the years.
- As yet we do not know which game the jackpot was won on. If it was either Mega Vault Millionaire or Absolootly Mad, then this would be the first time that the jackpot has been claimed on either of these games. It could also be the second winner on the Atlantean Treasures slot, or it could also be a winner on the original Mega Moolah, on which the vast majority of big jackpot wins have been landed.
- With two winners in quick succession, the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize has now reset to around the 1.8 million mark, which means that it is now the second highest jackpot prize available from Microgaming, with the Wheel of Wishes slot top jackpot prize now at 5.9 million.
- With six winners already confirmed in 2020 now, this moves it to joint-fourth place on the list of years with the most Mega Moolah winners. Top place is 2017 which had 13 jackpot winners, followed by the 12 winners last year in 2019. Third on the list is 2018, which saw 7 winners with six winners in both 2014 and now 2020, although there are still three full months, plus most of September left in the current year.
Why are Canadian dollar players so successful on Mega Moolah?
Given that we know that there have been more Canadian Dollar winners on the Mega Moolah slot than any other currency, what is it about this particular type of currency, or its availability, that has made it such a success on the Mega Moolah slot?
Well, it is somewhat difficult to fathom out as we lack the data on the number of players playing the game in each type of currency, so we don't know if the amount of winners in Canadian Dollars is representative of the number of Canadian players playing the game from Canada. It may well be the case that a much higher proportion of Mega Moolah players are Canadian, based in Canada, or elect to use the Canadian Dollar as their preferred method of payment (where it is available).
That could well be a more satisfactory explanation than suggesting that the Canadian Dollar is just the 'luckiest' currency when it comes to playing Mega Moolah.
Particularly interesting here is the notion that players from other parts of the world could play in Canadian Dollars as their first choice. There is a good reason why this may be the case, the Canadian Dollar is one of the cheaper currencies (in terms of relative value) compared to the likes of the Euro, British Pound or US Dollar. As such, playing a spin of 0.25 in Canadian Dollars is likely to be cheaper in your local currency than playing in US Dollars, Pounds or Euros.
Of course, the flip side of this is that if you do win a big cash prize, such as our latest winner of over 4 million, this means that the relative value of that win is also smaller when you convert it back into your local currency. For example, if you were playing Mega Moolah in Canadian Dollars from another country and won a 10 million jackpot, then that would convert into a considerably smaller amount than if you were playing in British Pounds or the Euro.
Unfortunately, we don't have any data to base our assumptions and thoughts on here, but given the prevalence of Canadian Dollar jackpot winners, it could well be that a large number of Canadians play the game, plus a large number of people elsewhere in the world elect to use Canadian Dollars as their preferred payment method where their local currency is unavailable to play on any of the Mega Moolah linked slots.
It should be noted though that regardless of what your local currency is, if you win playing the Mega Moolah slot using Canadian Dollars or any of the currencies available on the game, your win will be converted into your local currency, just as the big money Swedish winner's record-busting prize of €14.2 million, was converted into the equivalent amount of Swedish Kronor, which was 146 million Kronor.
2020 has been a bumper year for Mega Moolah winners in terms of the average amount won, with an average of 10.4 million for each of the six wins so far this year. What will the rest of the year hold for players of the game? Will we see another cluster of wins around August/September/October or will we see the jackpot grow again from a relatively small starting amount up to another 10 million plus jackpot over the coming weeks and months?
Nobody knows as the next Mega Moolah could come on the very next spin, or not for many months. That is part of the beguiling charm and excitement that the game generates and part of the reason why it is still a smash hit success for players the world over.
