Mega Moolah's Mega Jackpot reaches 10 million for the eighth time

It is a hugely exciting time for fans of jackpot slots, not only have we seen the release of a brand new progressive jackpot slot in Wheel of Wishes (complete with its 2 million seeded top jackpot prize) in the past few weeks, but we have also seen the Major Millions progressive jackpot prize climb to over 2.5 million, while the Mega Moolah slot is, hit the incredible 10 million mark.

As amazing as all that it, it pales into the news that has surrounded the most famous and most popular of all Microgaming progressive jackpot pools, Mega Moolah in recent weeks. Not only have we seen the recent release of two brand new additions to the Mega Moolah network in the shape of Mega Vault Millionaire and Atlantean Treasures, but we have also witnessed the progressive jackpot top prize pool smash through the 10 million mark for only the eighth time in the game's history.

What we have seen over the last week or so is a marked increase in the amount of people playing either the original game, or the newer slots linked to the same jackpot prize and this is seeing that massive progressive jackpot increasing at an incredible rate. It has taken less than a week to increase from 9 million, up to 10 million and the signs are, unless it is won in the meantime, that it could progress beyond the 10 million mark at an even greater rate.

Since the game began, we have had seven different players win a cash prize on the Mega Moolah slot that has amounted to 10 million or more in their chosen currency. In order of the date of their wins, the jackpot triggers were as follows:

• 28^th September 2018 - Anonymous winner of €18,910,668.01
• 30^th January 2019 - Anonymous winner of CA$20,059,287.27
• 5^th March 2019 - Anonymous winner of US$12,945,668.34

What is perhaps as striking about these wins, in addition to the incredible size of them, is the fact that the first four wins on this list all happened one after another in terms of triggers of the Mega Moolah jackpot. There was then a break of almost two years before the next big money winner was landed in September 2018, but following that win, the next two winners also broke the 10 million mark with their wins.

This means that all seven wins so far have come in clusters, the first a cluster of four wins, the second a cluster of three wins.

That is unusual as, statistically at least, when a jackpot is won it depletes the amount in the Jackpot Fund (in the case of a British Pound win, the Jackpot fund would be reset to the seed amount of 1 million). As such, after a big win you would tend to expect some smaller wins to come in between them.

However, given that wins in US and Canadian Dollars in particular can amount to significantly less in terms of what 10 million of those currencies is worth compared to 10 million in British Pounds, it means wins in these currencies can still leave a significant amount in the prize pool, which helps then make the next jackpot prize be valued more highly.

In terms of big money winners, the cash has also been spread around the most popular currency winners. We have seen three big Canadian winners, and one win apiece for players using the Euro, New Zealand Dollar, US Dollar and British Pound as their standard currency.

It has been just under 12 months since the last 10 million plus jackpot was won in March 2019 and in the intervening time, the highest the jackpot has climbed was to 8.1 million in May 2019. But just how much higher could the Mega Moolah jackpot climb?

How high could the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot climb and why?

The first thing to note is that it is impossible to predict with any accuracy what amount the Mega Moolah jackpot prize will eventually reach before it is won. It could be won at the very moment you are reading this article, or it could be won tomorrow, or next week, next month or not for many months afterwards. All we are confident of is that, at some point, it will be won by somebody!

The reason for that is that the nature of the game means that the jackpot can be triggered at any time, by any player. This is an entirely random process and as such, it is impossible to infer from any previous payouts when the next one will be, or how much it will be won for.

What we do know is that the majority of triggers over 10 million have come at around the 10 to 13 million mark. Five of the seven triggers have seen winners climb a prize in this kind of area, with just two, one of 19 million and one of 20 million being well in excess of those amounts.

So while we don't know when the jackpot will be won, or by whom and for how much, what we can say with a much greater degree of certainty, is that the more time that passes between now and the jackpot being won, then the chances are it will grow to a much greater amount.

The reason for that is simply the rate at which the jackpot is increasing has itself increased over the past week or so. Coincidentally, at the same time as this happened, the new Atlantean Treasures slot was released generally across casinos for the first time and I don't think it is a coincidence that in the week this happened, we have seen a marked increase in how much the jackpot prize is increasing by each day.

A couple of weeks back, the jackpot prize was increasing by around 100,000 - 150,000 per day. However, this week, we have seen the jackpot prize amount increasing more around the 200,000 mark per day and the good news is, that there is no signs that this is slowing down.

At this rate, rather than it taking a week to reach the next million, the next million will at this new amount be reached in just five days and of course, the higher the jackpot climbs, the more people will try to be the lucky ones to play the game and land a win, which in turn increases the rate at which the jackpot increases.

That is exciting as it means at this rate, we could hit 11 million by next week, if the jackpot is not won in the meantime.
