Mega Vault Millionaire slot: How to trigger the Free Spins bonus game (video)
With the Casino Rewards Network now set to focus more of its energies, and also its popular starter bonuses on their exclusive Mega Vault Millionaire slot, it is going to be an interesting few months or so to see how often it triggers any of the top jackpot prizes that are the real attraction of the Mega Moolah progressive network.
What we have done to mark the fact, is to compile a series of articles, alongside some accompanying videos, that take a closer look at all the different aspects of the Mega Vault Millionaire slot, ranging from how the Jackpot Bonus Wheel in the game works, down to the simple 'facts of life' about the slot, such as its pay lines, symbols, payouts and bonus features.
And it is with arguably the most important bonus features that we are going to focus on in this article. While the Jackpot Bonus Wheel is the bonus that every player of the Mega Vault Millionaire slot wants to trigger, the one that most people will experience far more frequently is the Free Spins bonus round and in truth, for the vast majority of players, this particular bonus can have a significant impact on whether you finish a session in profit, or with a loss.
Therefore, it is an important part of the game, and so we decided to take a look at it in more detail. We have posted a couple of videos on the bonus, the first a standard Free Spins bonus round with a relatively small value win and the second is a rarer Free Spins bonus round that re-triggers during the bonus.
Mega Vault Millionaire Free Spins
In this video, you can clearly see how the Free Spins round triggers, which is by landing three of the Faberge Egg Scatter symbols anywhere across the reels during a standard spin. This will then award you 15 Free Spins (regardless of whether you land 3, 4 or 5 Scatters).
However, if you land more Scatters than three, then the value of your cash prize awarded for that win increases markedly from 3x your bet up to 20x your bet to the largest win of 100x your bet for landing five across the reels.
Once triggered, the Free Spins will load up and you will see a counter in the top left corner of the reels which displays how many Free Spins you have. In the top right corner of the reels you will see a notice that all wins during Free Spins come with a 3x multiplier attached as standard. This multiplier is absolutely key to landing the better value wins in the game.
In the video of the standard Free Spins round, one thing you will notice is that unless you are lucky enough to land 5-symbol wins across the reels, then even having a 3x multiplier on some of the 3-symbol wins is not enough to make a huge different in terms of the size of win. For example eve with a 3x multiplier, land two of the blue sapphire symbols and you still only win 0.18.
However, there is one symbol that is absolutely key in Free Spins mode and that is the Wild. Not only is the Wild, which is the Treasure Box, the highest value symbol on the reels, offering wins of up to 600x your total bet in the base game (if you can land five across the reels on a single pay line) but it is absolutely fundamental to landing bigger wins in Free Spins.
For this to happen you need to land the Wild symbols on the first three reels, ideally with more than one Wild on the reels and with matching symbols in the other spaces on the reels, When you do this, you can trigger multiple pay line wins on a single spin and you can often land multiple wins using different symbols too. When these wins are combined, this single spin can result in a far greater value win.
The flexibility of the Wild in this part of the game is the key and in truth, the more you land on those first three reels in Free Spins, then the more chance you have of the Free Spins bonus being a very profitable one for you.
Another positive is that in Free Spins, if you land two Scatters, then instead of winning 2x your bet, you win 6x your bet thanks to the 3x multiplier and as such, landing two Scatters, which happens relatively frequently, can see you pick up some very good value wins during the bonus round.
It is important to note here that the Free Spins bonus round can be very volatile. You can play one Free Spins round and win next to nothing (as has happened to me in an earlier video when we played through an amount of cash on Mega Vault Millionaire, when I triggered Free Spins and literally won the amount of money I won from the initial trigger and added nothing to it over the 15 Free Spins). However, you can also win 50x or even 100x your bet amount in this bonus too, so while it is not a guarantee of a big money win, it does offer you a significantly better chance than playing the base game.
That is for two reasons, the multiplier of 3x the standard win and the fact these spins are not costing you anything.
However, there is one other way to give yourself a better chance of a bigger value Free Spins win and that is by re-triggering the bonus, which is precisely what happened in the second video linked to this article.
Mega Vault Millionaire re-triggered Free Spins
The second video in the series shows a Free Spins re-trigger from within the bonus round. While this is not something that occurs on every Free Spins session on Mega Vault Millionaire, I have to confess and say that along with the original Mega Moolah slot, it is the only game where I have managed to re-trigger a Free Spins bonus round relatively regularly, by that I mean on around once every 5-10 triggers of the bonus.
Now, those figures are entirely based on my own experiences. They may, or may not be, representative of how the game works and in truth, I do not know if that is the case. However, experience has shown me that Mega Vault Millionaire and Mega Moolah are two of the more reliable slots when it comes to Free Spins re-triggers.
This is evident in the video of the re-triggered bonus game. As you will see, I play through the first trigger of the Free Spins until once again, I land the three Faberge Egg Scatters on the reels. This then adds a further 15 Free Spins to the total in the left-hand corner of the screen and awards me a nice cash prize of 3.75 for landing the three Scatters during the bonus round (when the 3x multiplier is in play).
Of course, the real bonus of a re-trigger of Free Spins is not that it guarantees you a big win, it does not, but it does give you more chance of triggering one and it gives you more chance to pick up more of the lower value wins which when added together can amount to a larger amount over the duration of your bonus game.
At the time of writing, I am yet to trigger the Free Spins bonus round for a third time in succession on. video. I have, however, done so in standard play on the Mega Moolah slot (although, despite triggering 45 Free Spins in total, I didn't actually win a huge amount from that bonus and I have certainly had single Free Spins round that have paid out more).
As with any bonus, the Free Spins bonus on Mega Vault Millionaire offers you more chance to win, it does not guarantee it, but of course, you will be saving at least 0.25 per spin on every Free Spin you have, which means that even those very low value wins are still a profit on that spin, which is often not the case in the base game.
Free Spins on Mega Vault Millionaire summary
- Not particularly difficult to trigger. You will usually trigger them at least once in a standard session. Sometimes more often.
- Payouts can be somewhat variable, with some sessions offering very small wins, others can offer considerably greater value wins.
- Re-triggering Free Spins happens relatively frequently when compared to other games.
- The more Free Spins you have, the more chance you have of a better value win, but this is not guaranteed.
- You can't trigger the Jackpot Bonus Wheel from Free Spins, only from the base game.
- Free Spins are the key to longer-term profitability on the game, but once again, this is variable and you will have losing sessions, as well as ones where you end up in profit as a result of the Free Spins bonus round.
