Microgaming to preview six big slot titles for 2019 release at ICE 2019
Slots software giant Microgaming, developers of the famous Mega Moolah progressive jackpot slot, have announced the games that they are going to showcase at the annual ICE Totally Gaming exhibition in February 2019.
Last year the company brought the house down when it organised some of the most eye-catching displays at ICE 2018 as it showcased some of the titles set for release later that year, including the steam-punk inspired Fortunium and the innovative Cash of Kingdoms, the promotion of which featured an incredible foot archer displaying their flexible and innovative talents.
A year on from that, and in a twelve-month period that has seen Microgaming sign new exclusive development partnerships with a number of exciting third-party developers, such as Slingshot Studios and Fortune Factory Studios, the company is now set to preview six of its major releases for 2019.
This includes a mix of brand-new games, as well as some familiar characters and faces that slot fans may well recognise from some of the most popular Microgaming slots of years gone by.
What is ICE 2019?
ICE 2019 is a three-day exhibition and conference that is held at the ExCel London from Feb 5 to Feb 7. The conference caters for all aspects of the gaming industry and last year there were 8,500 different operators in attendance from over 150 countries. 33,000 people attended in 2018.
In addition to slot and casino game developers, there are a number of other companies that have links to online gaming and gambling that will be present including sports betting companies, lottery organisations, E-sports companies and many more. This diaspora of interests creates a rich and varied list of attendees and is the perfect showcase for companies to network, arrange talks and conferences, as well as promoting their forthcoming products for 2019.
What are Microgaming showcasing at ICE 2019?
Across the three days of of ICE 2019, Microgaming will be showcasing a total of six different games that are set to be released throughout 2019, all of which will be showcased at the now famous Microgaming Bar (N5 - 120).
Attendees will be able to not just review aspects of each game, but also will be able to see artwork, game mechanics and all the new features of each game in minute detail so that they can get under the skin of this exciting sextet of releases.
The games that will be displayed in the Microgaming Bar for the duration of the event are as follows:
- Village People Online Slot
Developed in partnership with Fortune Factory Studios, the Village People slot promises to be one of the most exciting new games of 2019. This will be a rare foray into the world of pop music for Microgaming and the iconic band, whose hits include the legendary In The Navy and Y.M.C.A, will provide a colourful and spectacular backdrop to this eagerly awaited slot.
Having sold millions of record worldwide, this is the first time the legendary band will appear in their own online slot and it is going to be interesting to see how Fortune Factory Studios and Microgaming represent the disco era later this year.
- Agent Jane Blonde Returns Slot
Several years ago, Microgaming released their own female-led spoof of the James Bond series in slot form. That slot, Agent Jane Blonde, saw the heroine of the piece use a number of hi-tech gadgets, gizmos and her own wily ways to defeat the villains and ensure the safety of the world.
That 5-reel, 9-pay line slot proved to be a big hit for Microgaming and following a hiatus, 2019 will see the super-spy return in the aptly titled Agent Jane Blonde Returns, the second game to be released following Microgaming signing a content deal with Stormcraft Studios, whose first release for the company, Fortunium, was such a hit at ICE 2018.
However, Agent Jane Blonde isn't the only female superstar returning to Microgaming casinos at some point in 2019.
- New Tomb Raider/Lara Croft Slot
Certainly, one of the most eagerly anticipated games showcased at ICE 2019 will be Microgaming's as yet unnamed new Tomb Raider and Lara Croft project. After celebrating a 15-year anniversary with Square Enix in 2018, Microgaming have decided to bring Lara back for another adventure, this time in conjunction with Triple Edge Studios.
The game will be the third in the series of slots from Microgaming featuring the famous CGI explorer. The first Tomb Raider slot was a smash hit success back in 2004 and four years later, Tomb Raider: Secret of the Sword built on that success by introducing a quest element into the game to track down fragments of an incredibly powerful weapon.
It is going to be interesting to see how much of the new slot from Triple Edge is ready for customers to peruse and indeed, whether the company has decided on a name for their forthcoming release.
- Shogun of Time Slot
Just For The Win have produced a number of quality slots for Microgaming in recent times and in 2019, they will expand that portfolio of games with the intriguing Shogun of Time slots. The game combines elements of ancient Japanese history, together with more modern cyberpunk themes and centres on a female Samurai warrior who has a hidden alter-ego, Cybergirl.
Can Cybergirl save a futuristic version of Tokyo in this exciting 4-reel slot, with the 5th reel only coming into play in the Free Spins bonus game? Why not check Shogun of Time out at ICE 2019 and find out?
- Banana Odyssey Slot
One of the lesser-known lights of Microgaming's ICE 2019 line up is their latest slot in conjunction with Slingshot Studios. Known as Banana Odyssey, the game is reported to have a species of monkey as the focus of the game, although the slot is also reportedly set in space.
This sounds like an intriguing, and rather fun, mash-up slot which is sure to draw plenty of interest from eagle-eyed fans at the exhibition this year.
In addition to the five slot games on display, Microgaming will also be showcasing one of their forthcoming table game releases, based on the popular game of Blackjack. Switch Studios have been working on this version of the game, which promises to bring Blackjack kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
With a professional DJ in attendance, surprise performers across the three days and spectacular events and promotions planned, the Microgaming Bar will once again be one of the coolest places to hang out at ICE 2019.
Furthermore, with Microgaming's commitment to being environmentally responsible ensuring that its exhibit is as eco-friendly as possible, with extensive recycling facilities and compostable materials used where possible, there will also be a zero-plastic policy to follow Clarion and Ecobooth's attempts to reduce waste at such shows.
ICE 2019 begins on Feb 5 2019 and the Microgaming Bar can be found at stands N5-220.
