Rabcat's North Storm slot due for immediate release at Microgaming casinos
Rabcat's last release was a fantastic game and it is fair to say that we are eager to see what their new slot has to offer. Details about the North Storm slot are available, and the good news is that Rabcat have followed their tried and trusted 5-reel, 25-pay line set up for this slot too.
Update 10/12/2019: North Storm slot review is here.
Fresh from the release of their brilliant Sherlock of London slot a short time ago Rabcat Gaming's next eagerly anticipated release is set to his casinos later this week as the brand new North Storm slot blows a gale through Microgaming casinos from the 5th December 2019.
What do we know about the forthcoming North Storm slot?
The first thing we need to address about the North Storm slot is the name. What does North Storm mean and how does it link in with the narrative of the slot? The game is set in ancient times and tells the story of a fearless adventurer who locates an "ancient temple in the snow mountains of a forbidding land" which is guarded over by the famed Norse Gods.
Who does that mean? Well, you remember Thor, Loki and Odin from the Marvel series of films? Well, it would be those guys. A rather formidable set of opponents if you don't mind me saying.
Over the epochs, no soldier has even located this temple, let alone had the guts to take on the challenges that lie within to try and avail themselves of the incredible wealth and other riches that are rumoured to lie within. However, you are the first to find the North Storm temple and take on the might of Thor and his allies to try and earn yourself a slice of the riches.
It all sounds somewhat exciting and to be truthful, I was immediately put in mind of the Thunderstruck series of slots from Microgaming when I heard the description of the game, as that too is based on Norse mythology, however having seen the look and options available in the North Storm slot, it is clear that while the slots share some similarities in terms of characters and subject matter, the actual mechanics of the game is very different to the famous and older Microgaming slot.
How is the North Storm slot set up?
Rabcat are one of the companies that are not afraid to let customers know what to expect when they make a game release and I think this is a wise move. Some companies like to keep their details of slot games firmly under wraps until the release date, which is their prerogative of course, but it is hard to get excited about a new slot game when you know nothing about it other than the title.
With Rabcat releases though, the company will offer you plenty of detail about the slot, but without giving everything away, so that when the game is released, there are still a few surprises to enjoy, usually concerning some aspect of the game play.
So what do we know about the North Storm slot? Well first off we know that Rabcat are using the same 25-pay line, 5x3 reel set up that has become something of a trademark for the company on their recent releases including Sherlock of London, but also the Crystal Rift slot. Not that we are complaining because those games have been excellent and why would you want to try and fix something, when it clearly is not broken?
The pay lines are fixed in this slot, which to me suggests that a minimum bet will be around the 0.25 per spin mark, although there's no indications as yet as to how much you will be able to ramp up that maximum bet too, although with previous releases, a figure of around 200x the minimum bet (say 50.00) has been about right.
We also know that the game has a RTP value of 96.13% which is on the higher side and that it is a medium volatility slot game, which means that you may not get as many lower value wins as you would on a lower variance slot, but you should get a better mix of low, medium and higher value wins over the course of the longer term when playing the game.
One of the most pleasing aspects of the slot is that it is also available in 33 different languages, which means that it is going to appeal to a large number of players based all over the world, a fact which in the modern day is vital if a slot is going to have appeal across the globe. The slot is also available to play via desktop and mobile across a wide range of popular devices.
Do we know anything about the key features of the North Storm slot?
Yes we do. Rabcat in their preview of the slot have let slip some of the key information about the game. We know, for example, that there are seven different symbols on the reels, five of which are playing card symbols, from the 10 through to the Jack, with two more Norse-styled symbols on the reels.
In addition to this, we also know that the slot has its own Wild symbol and also a Free Spins bonus game.
However, perhaps the most exciting news is that the new North Storm slot will have what Rabcat have called a Bonus Falls feature. This is essentially the same feature as a Rolling Reels, or Cascading Reels or Avalanche Reels bonus as you would find on other slot games and means that when you land a winning symbol, those symbols will disappear and be replaced by other symbols dropping down from above.
These new symbols dropping into position can trigger additional wins and in the North Storm slot, these wins will also trigger an increase in the multiplier bonus applied to a win, increasing it in value with each trigger of the Bonus Falls feature, up to a maximum of 4x your standard win.
We also know that in Free Spins the Bonus Falls feature is also in play and that the Multiplier values are increased for this particular part of the game, increasing it by double the amount in the base game, so wins can be as much as 8x the standard win.
The preview video of the slot, is particularly intriguing with some outstanding graphics depicting a blizzard and statues guarding the entrance to the realm and it shows the game-play in action clearly. The soundtrack sounds excellent with the right mix of drama and in truth, it reminds me very much of a PS4 game called Skyrim, it has that Norse, epic feel that the game captured so well.
It is fair to say that I am looking forward to the imminent release of the North Storm slot later this week and I am going to play it over the forthcoming weekend to bring you my official review of the slot early next week. So keep your eyes peeled for that.
