Sisters of Oz jackpot slot to be showcased by Microgaming at ICE2020

There's plenty of big news coming from Microgaming this month as the company prepares to be one of the big names demonstrating some of its forthcoming game releases at the annual industry expo ICE London 2020, which takes place at the ExCel in London from the 4th to the 6th February 2020.

The showcase will feature a number of top names across a wealth of different technology based industries, including slot gaming, e-sports, sports betting and more, however it is the games that Microgaming are intending to showcase at the event that have got tongues wagging and fans excited to see what is on the horizon from the Isle of Man-based slots giant.

Over 340 games in 2020 alone

In a press release related to their participation at ICE 2020, Microgaming have announced that they are planning to add "100+ exclusive games and 240+ partner games" to its content in 2020 alone, which highlights the fact that it is set to be a busy year for the company and the different software development studios that it has struck up partnerships with over the past 12-18 months.

As part of their presence at ICE 2020, Microgaming will showcase a number of forthcoming games, all of which will be given added zest by a variety of live DJ performances which will be hosted at the now-customary Microgaming bar that the company creates on their vast expo stand.

Nine of the studios that Microgaming have struck partnership deals with will also be displaying their products as part of the expansive Microgaming display and arguably the most buzz has been created with the news of the imminent release of a new slot from Triple Edge Studios.

Wowpot! Progressive Jackpot linked slot

This new slot game is called Sisters of Oz and it is a sequel to the popular Book of Oz slot that the two companies collaborated on and released last year. No firm date has been given for the release of the slot with Microgaming only confirming that it will be released "later this year", but the news it is coming will have slot fans excited and that is because the game is set to be linked to the new Wowpot progressive jackpot, which is the heart of the Wheel of Wishes slot.

For those of you that don't know, in February, after an initial roll out across a limited number of casinos, Microgaming along with partner Alchemy Gaming, will roll out the Wheel of Wishes slot with a global release. This 5x3 reel slot features a brand-new progressive jackpot fund, featuring four progressive jackpot prizes, Mini, Minor, Major and Wowpot!

It is the latter two progressive prizes that have got many people in the industry excited with the Major jackpot seeded at 50,000, which is 5x more than the equivalent Major Jackpot on the Mega Moolah slot, while the Wowpot! jackpot will be seeded at 2 million.

Of course, Wheel of Wishes will offer players the first opportunity to land a shot at these progressive jackpot prizes, but the release of the Sisters of Oz slot later this year does tend to hint at the fact that Microgaming are open to developing a number of slot games all of which are linked in to the Wowpot! progressive prize fund.

That is significant as it means the greater the number of slot games paying into a progressive fund, the more people can play games and the faster that progressive jackpot prize, plus with more spins on each game played, there is a greater likelihood someone somewhere will land that massive Wowpot! jackpot prize.

Aurora Beast Hunter slot also previewed

In addition to showcasing the Sisters of Oz slot, fans at ICE 2020 will also be able to take a closer look at another forthcoming Microgaming release, Aurora Beast Hunter, which is another release for the company from the prolific Just For The Win studio.

This exciting new slot features the character Aurora, who will lead players on a quest through what Microgaming term as "the world of a 90s action hero movie" in order to hunt down a number of fearsome creatures.

Environmental impact

One of the big drivers for Microgaming at the event, along with the new slot games, is their drive to become more environmentally friendly as part of its Microgaming PlayItForward programme. As a result, Microgaming's stand at the showcase will be made from environmentally-sustainable produce, the majority of which can be recycled after the event, and much of what is left being able to be composted or reused in another way.

Speaking about their forthcoming attendance at the event, Microgaming CEO John Coleman stated:

"ICE 2020 will see Microgaming introduce its latest suite of high-quality, entertainment-driven games, scheduled to launch throughout the year on our award-winning content aggregation platform. Joined by talented and passionate specialists from nine of the independent studios behind out latest and upcoming exclusive titles, attendees can expect a lively welcome to Microgaming's world in the heart of London."

Big month ahead

February promises to be one of the most important months for Microgaming in many a year. In addition to their presence at the ICE 2020 event, the company is also pressing ahead with a number of exciting new releases. Wheel of Wishes has a general release on February 11th, while the Mega Moolah-tie in slot Atlantean Treasure, which has been released in many places already, will have its UK release at the end of the month.

In addition, the company is also slated to release a number of other slot games during the month, with a full list and timetable of releases expected to be confirmed by the company in the first few days of February.

Big winners already on Wheel of Wishes limited release

Speaking about Wheel of Wishes limited release across a small number of casinos, James Buchanan, the Director of Global Operations at Microgaming has confirmed that the slot has already paid out one large Major progressive prize.

"We are pleased to announce that the game's first Major progressive jackpot win has already been hit during an early release period, with one player winning €131,574.55 and total payouts across all four jackpots exceeding €1.2 million."
