Treasure Nile slot players are on a winning streak!
There's something going on in the fast-flowing waters of the Treasure Nile slot, and I don't mean our little piscatorial friends with their fins and gills.
What I am talking about is the fact that since August, we have seen an incredible number of winners of this popular progressive jackpot slot, with over 600,000 in a variety of currencies paid out over that period, most of them to mobile devices.
So, what has happened to see a sudden boom in the number of wins on this popular Microgaming progressive jackpot slot? We decided to wade into the Treasure Nile itself and take a closer look, but before we do, for those who have not yet played this slot, here's a brief look at what the game entails.
What is the Treasure Nile slot?
Treasure Nile is one of Microgaming's more interesting progressive jackpot games. First up, it is not the cheapest to play, with each spin costing 4.50 in your chosen/main currency. Compared to a game like the Mega Moolah slot (where the minimum bet to qualify for the progressive jackpot is 0.25) it is clear that Treasure Nile is aimed at those players comfortable with betting a larger amount per spin.
The game is based on ancient Egypt and of course, the famous river, the longest in the world, that runs through it. Symbols on the reels include the Eye of Horus, King Tut's death mask, a River Nile sailing barge, a King Cobra, Anubis, the Sphinx and of course, the Pyramids.
The latter, the Pyramid symbols, are the in game Wild and can be used as substitutes to land better value wins in the base game. There is a Scatter symbol, the Golden Scarab beetle, but this just offers a pay out when you land three or more on the reels. There is no Free Spins bonus game in Treasure Nile.
However if you want to win big, then you need to land five of the King Tutankhamun Death Mask symbols across one of the nine pay lines in play. If you land these five symbols on any of the first eight pay lines, then you will win a 6,000 base game jackpot prize.
But, if you land the five King Tut Masks on the ninth and final pay line, then you trigger the progressive jackpot prize.
And that is precisely what a number of players have been doing with incredible regularity over the last few weeks or so.
Treasure Nile's big winners in August and September 2019
In any given month, on average the Treasure Nile slot may pay out anywhere between 1-2 decent sized progressive jackpots and perhaps another smaller amount. However since August 2019, we have seen a rather marked increase in the number of wins and also the size of the wins.
The full list of big progressive jackpot winners on the Treasure Nile slot since August 2019 is shown below:
- 5th August 2019 - Casino Classic - CA$146,311.48
- 10th August 2019 - Grand Mondial Casino (mobile) - US$70,997.14
- 14th August 2019 - Zodiac Casino (mobile) - CA$60,359.04
- 17th August 2019 - Zodiac Casino (mobile) - CA$56,596.57
- 21st August 2019 - Zodiac Casino (mobile) - CA$74,869.78
- 14th September 2019 - Luxury Casino (mobile) - CA$101,065.16
- 20th September 2019 - Luxury Casino (mobile) - €132,825.38
Total amount won since August 5th - 643,024,.55.
We have now had seven big winners in just over 6 weeks, a strike rate of one big jackpot win per week and it is not just the number of wins that is impressive, but the size of the wins.
Treasure Nile is seeded at 40,000 when the progressive jackpot is won in full (when a British pound winner is landed) and the fact that all these winners have been in either US Dollars, the Euro or most popularly, Canadian Dollars, has meant that the progressive jackpot fund has never been fully emptied when it has been triggered.
This means that the next jackpot starts with a set amount already in the fund and of course, this attracts more people to play the slot. The more people that play the slot game, then the faster the progressive jackpot grows because more money is being spent playing the game. In addition, the more spins you play on the slot with the more people playing, then the more likely you are to trigger a win.
It is possible that the game has attracted markedly more players due to the fact that the jackpot has been triggered a few times more often of late. Slot players are a superstitious lot and they will tend to play games that appear to be paying out more often than other games.
Alternatively, what we could be witnessing here is simply one of the many statistical flukes that occur in games of this nature. As progressive jackpot slots are random in the way that they award their prizes, you can go weeks or even months (and in some cases, years) without triggering a jackpot win. At other times, you can trigger several wins in the space of a few days (and on some slots, wins can be just hours apart).
These statistical anomalies do occur from time to time and it does make it appear as if a slot is 'hot' or 'cold' depending on whether it has paid out or not. Of course, the one thing to remember about this is that just because a slot has paid out a number of wins in the past, or has not paid out for a long time, does not mean that another win is due to be landed any time soon. Every win is random and can occur on any spin at any time.
The rise of mobile jackpot winners
One thing that is noteworthy from the data, and which confirms trends that have been spied in other winning data from across a massive range of slots, is the number of wins that are coming to players playing from mobile devices.
Of the seven wins since August 5th on Treasure Nile, six of them were landed playing from a mobile device.
Now this does not mean that mobile devices are more likely to trigger the jackpot win. It simply is evidence that an increasing number of players are now using their smartphone and tablet devices, rather than desktop or laptops, to play at their chosen casino.
This marked rise in mobile gaming has been identified across many different industries, including casino gaming and as such, it is this that is fuelling the vast increase in the number of mobile winners over the last few years.
The question most slots fans are asking themselves now is when will the good luck on the Treasure Nile slot end? Or do we have another big winner waiting to land a life-changing amount of money some time soon?
Where can I play the Treasure Nile jackpot slot?
The best place to play Treasure Nile is to sign up directly from our dedicated Treasure Nile page. However if you are reading this from the United Kingdom, then your best option to play is at one of the Casino Rewards casinos, which are licensed in the UK.
