We play through 15 minutes of spins on the Mega Vault Millionaire slot: Video
In another MegaMoolah.com video, we have decided to play through around 15 minutes worth of spins on the Casino Rewards Network exclusive Mega Vault Millionaire, the slot that is directly linked to the famous Mega Moolah progressive jackpot.
Now we know that the first winner of the month, who landed a huge CA$13.6 million prize on the 8th May, landed their prize on the Atlantean Treasures slot, another of the relatively recent Mega Moolah-linked releases. We are still waiting to hear what games the last two winners, on the 24th and 27th May, were landed on and, fingers crossed, maybe Mega Vault Millionaire has broken its duck in terms of winners too.
It is worth remembering that you can only play Mega Vault Millionaire at Casino Rewards Network casinos. It will not be available anywhere else. It is also the only Mega Moolah-linked slot that has a different jackpot bonus game to play through.
Mega Vault Millionaire's Jackpot Bonus Game
On the original Mega Moolah, and games like Absolootly Mad and Atlantean Treasures, those games still use a single bonus wheel to decide what of the four Mega Moolah jackpot prizes you will win, if you are lucky enough to trigger the bonus. You spin the wheel once and whatever colour sector the pointer lands on, that is the jackpot prize you win.
Mega Vault Millionaire is a bit more complicated as it uses a series of bank vaults to decide which jackpot you will win, which come in the form of a wheel. On the first wheel you can win either the smallest prize, the Mini or you will win a shot at the next wheel in the sequence. If you achieve that, then on the second wheel you can win the Minor prize or win a shot at the third and final reel in the sequence.
This final reel is the big money reel, which will see you win either the Major jackpot (which is usually measured in the tens of thousands, but sometimes can climb higher than that) and of course the Mega Jackpot, which is the guaranteed million, but which is often considerably greater than that amount (and which has been won three times in May already!).
Unfortunately, during my 15-minute spell on Mega Vault Millionaire, I didn't land a shot at the jackpot game, but that is not surprising. Although the jackpot game on Mega Moolah slots triggers often, there are so many people playing each game at any one time that your chances of triggering it, especially in a short session are slim. But the great thing of course, is that you may only need to trigger it once for you to land an amazing win. We also encountered an error towards the end of our playing session. These "network errors" are common. When it happens you have to close the error window, which then closes the game as well. To play the game again you need to reload from the casino lobby.
Let's now take a look at some of the more interesting aspects of the 15-minute video play-through that accompanies this article, and there are a couple of key things I want to show you from this video that we were not able to on the other videos for the Mega Moolah slots.
Mega Moolah gets its revenge!
If you have tuned in to our other videos on the Atlantean Treasures, Absolootly Mad and the original Mega Moola slot, you will know that on each one, during my 20 minutes worth of spins or so, I ended up slightly in profit. While you can end up in profit playing the game on a session, it is not always the case and in a way, I was glad that this session on Mega Vault Millionaire proved that to be the case.
One of the more difficult concepts for people to get their head around with slots is how chance works, especially in terms of random number generators (which are the bits of software at the heart of every slot game). The nature of randomness is precisely that it can be completely random. There is no 'pattern' to events in games of this nature, even if it appears to be.
Over its lifetime a Mega Moolah slot like Mega Vault Millionaire will play through billions, if not trillions if not quadrillions of spins. Now all those spins don't play out in the same random way for everybody. Not every player plays 100 spins has about 20 small wins, 5 bigger value wins and 75 non-winning spins, plus a Free Spins trigger on one of the non-winning spins.
The nature of randomness is that on one session of 100 spins, you may hit 50 small wins, 10 big wins, 40 non-winning spins, but also trigger the Free Spins bonus a few times too and a shot at the Jackpot Bonus Wheel too.
Yet you can play the same slot the following day and have 70 non-winning spins, 10 small wins and no big wins, no Free Spins and no jackpot triggers. Another day you may have 90 non-winning spins, but 5 big winning spins and 5 small winning spins.
It is this rich variation in randomness that people view as the machine being 'hot' or 'cold' and often people can ascribe reasons as to why the machine is playing as it is, that are totally inaccurate. "It knows I spent a fortune on it the other week, that's why it's letting me win some back" is a comment I've heard a few times. It is absolutely not the case.
As you can see, after three profitable sessions on the other three slots, in the video Mega Moolah bites back as the Mega Vault Millionaire slot plays tighter than a rusted nut in this session. Overall, I lost a good chunk of the money I'd won from earlier sessions, but that is precisely the nature of the game and of slots in general.
What happens when an error strikes during your game?
One of the main worries for people when playing slots is what would happen if you initiate a spin but then you lose connection, or the game fritzes, or the software reports an error? Now it is one thing me telling you that the spin concludes and you will be paid out if you win, but it would be nice to see that in action.
Well, in this video you can see precisely what happens when this is the case. Several times during the session, the game fritzes out when I initiate a spin and I am forced to go back to the log-in page, re-select the game and play on.
Each time you can see that the spin has been played to a completion (and I think I am right in saying that on one spin, it was a winner, so you can see the winning line being displayed when I re-log back into the game).
The reason this is possible is that the moment you click spin, in the fraction of a second afterwards, the outcome of your spin is decided by the random number generator. The rest of the time is just the presentation of the outcome of that spin, made to play like a real-world slot game. This is why features such as Quickspin are possible.
The first thing the software does when you click spin, is select a random number before anything else, so that means the result of the spin is determined before any errors can kick in with the display of it. However, the software also remembers the spin result for you should an error occur, so when you log back in, you can continue from where you left off and see the outcome of that spin.
I would point out here that I have contacted Captain Cook's Casino about the Mega Vault Millionaire slot issues I faced. I am not sure whether this is because I was playing the game in Chrome on an iOS device (sometimes, it is better to play on Safari on a Mac as it is the preferred browser and is generally more stable) but I have contacted them regarding it and any further details I get I will post in an addendum here.
Other than these two things, there is not a great deal more I can report about this session. Yes I landed a couple of better value wins, and a few lower value wins, but this was the session that Mega Moolah bit back at me after a few profitable sessions at its expense.
This doesn't mean that Mega Vault Millionaire is the game to avoid though. This could have happened on any of the Mega Moolah slots. Next time I play Mega Vault Millionaire, I could make a ton of profit, that is just how the games work.
