What is the best way to spend 20.00 on the original Mega Moolah slot?

The original Mega Moolah slot has been around for a while and as it just crashed through 6 million in jackpot prizes, we decided to continue our investigation as to the best way to spend a sum of money on the Mega Moolah-linked slot games.

Having already looked at this on the Atlantean Treasures slot and the new Absolootly Mad slot, with some interesting results, we have now moved on to the oldest of the four slot games that are part of this series, and that means rather fittingly we will finish with a look at the Casino Rewards exclusive of the Mega Moolah-linked slots, Mega Vault Millionaire in our final article.

A recap of what has happened so far

In the previous two articles and videos in this series, we first played the Atlantean Treasures slot (video included) and things went pretty much as to plan. We landed a nice profit playing for 0.10 per spin, a small profit at 0.20 per spin and a small loss at 0.40 per spin, spending £10 on each set of spins in the process. That kind of emphasised the point we were illustrating that in general, it is a better option to take more spins for your money, than play fewer spins but for a larger bet amount.

However, our next article saw us play £10 worth of spins on Absolootly Mad slot (video included). This 243 Ways to Win game comes with Rolling Reels and Multiplier Trail. In that video we made a loss playing for the smallest and largest amount £0.20 and £0.60 per spin of around £7.50 in each session, however we made a much smaller loss of just over £1 when playing at 0.40 per spin.

Again this shows how slot gaming can vary from one session to the next and also how you are not guaranteed to win more playing one way, but that we can only offer general guidance, which still seems to show that playing more spins for a smaller amount per spin, is generally the better option.

So what will this third set of spins on the original Mega Moolah slot show us? Let's take a look and find out.

Test set up

As you will have noticed, on the Atlantean Treasures slot we played sessions at 0.10, 0.20 and 0.40 per spin, and on Absolootly Mad, this went up to 0.20, 0.40 and 0.60 per spin due to the fact each slot has a different minimum bet amount.

This also applies to the Mega Moolah slot, which has a minimum bet amount of 0.25 per spin and so for this slot, our bet amounts will be 0.25, 0.50 and 1.00 per spin. We have also decided to play £20 worth of spins on this slot to give us a few more spins to play with and as such that means 80, 40 and 20 spins to play through for each bet amount.

The videos for each of the 80 spins at 0.25 per spin, 40 spins and 0.50 per spin and 20 spins at 1.00 per spin are all available to view, however we did experience a little issue with sound on them which means the commentary is a little quieter than usual.

What is the Mega Moolah slot?

The slot that started the Mega Moolah journey is still an incredibly popular game after 15 years or so. It has produced more millionaire winners than any of the other Mega Moolah slots by far and its popularity with players remains undimmed after all this time.

Mega Moolah is a 25-pay line slot that boasts a Free Spins round (which applies a 3x multiplier to all wins as standard and which can be retriggered, as you will see in the video for 80 spins at 0.25 per spin) and a Wild symbol which offers a 2x multiplier on any win it is part of.

The Jackpot Bonus Wheel can be triggered on any spin of 0.25 or greater but it is a randomly applied bonus and unfortunately once again, we didn't manage to hit a shot at the jackpot in the 140 spins we had in total in this session.

What did each play-through show us?

So did the play-through on the Mega Moolah slot follow what we expected? Let's take a look at what proved to be another surprising, and very profitable, set of results.

We play 80 spins at 0.25 per spin with starting balance of £64.20

There's no doubt that the most amazing thing about this session on the Mega Moolah slot wasn't that we made another profit playing the game, but rather more how we landed the profit. That is because we had an incredibly good run of luck in the Free Spins bonus round which pretty much guaranteed us a win very early on in the run through.

After playing around 20 spins, I triggered the Free Spins bonus round for 15 Free Spins, but after just a couple of Free Spins, I re-triggered an additional 15 Free Spins which were added to that total. Then near the end of those Free Spins, I then incredibly re-triggered it for a second time, adding a further 15 Free Spins back onto the total.

Sadly, I couldn't trigger any more Free Spins, but those 45 Free Spins in total saw me make a profit of over £21 from that bonus alone, which meant that the fact I didn't really land any wins of note in what was a pretty ordinary session otherwise meant that I still made a healthy profit of just over £10 on those 80 spins.

This was seeming vindication for my chosen strategy, and I expected that when I loaded up the game again to play through 40 spins at 0.50 per spin, we would not be quite so successful.

I was wrong!

Session One video

End Balance - £74.56 (£10.36 Profit)

We play 40 spins at 0.50 per spin with starting balance of £74.56

After we moved up the bet size to 0.50 per spin for this session of 40 spins, I didn't expect to make a profit and was hoping that we would break even. However, Mega Moolah is a slot that can reward you at any time, regardless of how many spins you play or how much you bet and this session would be ample proof of that.

Once again, we started the session well with a nice couple of wins but then on about the 8th spin I landed a win of around £8.00 for a five symbol win across the reels. This was followed by another couple of wins which meant that after 25 spins, I was just a small amount down on the starting amount.

However, in the second set of 10 spins (spins 25-35) I triggered Free Spins and that proved to be hugely beneficial. While I didn't land a re-trigger this time around, on the 8th Free Spin I landed a prize of over £31 on that win alone. Added to that were a number of other lower value wins spread throughout the round and that meant that on the Free Spins bonus I made over £40 alone. With just a few spins to play through to complete the 40 spins, it meant I was assured of a great profit. However on my penultimate spin I landed another win of around £7.50 which meant that we had made a profit of over £42 on the session! Result!

Session Two video

End Balance - £117.24 (£42.68 Profit)

We play 20 spins at 1.00 per spin with starting balance of £117.24

The final session is just 20 spins and with QuickSpin enabled, you can play through your 20 spins very quickly. That is precisely what happened here as I didn't trigger any Free Spins bonus round in this session and instead made a loss of £10.20 on the session out of my £20 spend. Even so that meant, I was still over £40 up on all three sessions so far.

However, this does highlight why it is usually much more beneficial to opt for more spins at a smaller bet size. It just gives you a bit more flexibility with your spins to land those crucial Free Spins rounds which, as we have seen, can be so important to landing a profit on your session.

Session Three video

End Balance - £107.04 (£10.20 Loss)

Join me again next week when we complete our review of the Mega Moolah games by playing through the Mega Vault Millionaire slot. We will then complete the series by comparing all sessions across all four slots to see how each compares and what conclusions we can learn from all out sessions on the Mega Moolah slots.
