Wheel of Wishes mobile slot: £2 million guaranteed jackpot!
Around a month or so ago, it was announced that Microgaming had signed a new partnership deal with a software company called Alchemy Gaming to produce for them a new desktop and mobile slot game called Wheel of Wishes.
There is nothing unusual about that in itself. Microgaming have announced a number of partnerships over the last couple of years in particular, all with software development studios, who have since gone on to produce a number of top games exclusively for Microgaming, such as Banana Odyssey, Fortunium, 9 Masks of Fire, North Storm, Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx and Aurora Wilds, to name but a few, all of which you can read about in our Game Reviews.
However, this announcement was a little different. Usually when Microgaming and a studio announce a partnership, there is a game release that is either unveiled ready to play at the same time, or one that is set to be released within a day or two. With this latest deal with Alchemy Gaming, it was clear the Wheel of Wishes mobile slot would not be released for some time.
Then something else slightly odd occurred. The WowPot slot, which has been one of Microgaming's popular smaller progressive jackpot games, suddenly ceased to be available to play. Although the jackpot on the WowPot slot never reached the heights of games like Major Millions, Mega Moolah or the recently released Mega Vault Millionaire slot, it was still a decent smaller progressive game.
All these intriguing occurrences have led to speculation that something exciting could well be coming in 2020 from Microgaming and Alchemy Gaming. What that is, nobody is yet certain as both companies are keeping the finer details of this new release firmly under wraps at present. However, we have been able to find out a little information about the Wheel of Wishes Mobile slot and even trial a demo version ahead of its imminent release and we have provided you with the data we have discovered below.
When will Wheel of Wishes mobile slot be released?
With Microgaming and Alchemy Gaming keeping the details of the Wheel of Wishes mobile slot close to their chest, there are no beta or demo games available for the slot at the present moment in time, so of course one of the most important pieces of information about the game is when you will actually be able to play it.
What we can say is that the current release date for the mobile-friendly Wheel of Wishes slot, is slated to be in early 2020, with a possible release date of the 11th February mooted, although some outlets are suggesting an earlier release date of mid-to-late January.
Now, at the moment, I would take those dates with a little pinch of salt. Slot release dates can change due to a number of different factors that become apparent in the testing phase (which the slot will likely be undergoing right at this very moment). Indeed, I know of one slot that the release date was pushed back not just a few days, but over six months a short time back.
That's not to say that the Wheel of Wishes mobile slot will be the same, it is just to let you know it can happen. However, I would be paying close attention to the new releases in January and February if you are keen to try out the new game.
What do we know about the Wheel of Wishes slot for mobile?
At the moment, we only know the basics about the mobile Wheel of Wishes slot having trialled a demo version of the game. Firstly, we know that it is a 5-reel game with three symbols visible on each of the reels. There are a total of 10 pay lines in play across the reels and spins start at just 0.20 per spin, although you can ramp that up considerably to 200.00 per spin if you prefer.
In addition to this, there is also a special option called Power Mode, which costs 10x the standard bet but will see each spin you take be a Power Spin. We will explain what a Power Spin is below.
The base game is based on an Arabian Nights theme and has a desert backdrop and Asian-sounding music. The lower value symbols are the four playing card symbols, plus a single purple circle. Higher value symbols include a necklace, potions, a magic spell book, a treasure chest and the highest value standard symbol is the magic lamp.
There are two feature symbols on the reels, the Wild can appear across all five reels and, alongside all other symbols, can be stacked on the reels. Five Wilds offers the largest payout of 50x your stake.
The Scatter is the Wheel of Wishes symbol and this can appear across all five reels too. Land two or more and you will trigger the Power Spin bonus.
In this bonus feature (and when you activate the Power Mode outlined above) you will see the middle three reels turn into very large 3x3 symbols. Outside of these the first and fifth reels will display the same stacked symbol on the reel. If you can land the bigger version of the same symbol either part on, or better still, fully on the middle three reels, then you can land a much bigger value prize.
However, if you can land the Wheel of Wishes mobile big symbol on those three middle reels, you will trigger the Wheel of Wishes Jackpot bonus, when you will then trigger one of the jackpot prizes.
This is where things get really exciting because the demo version of the game we played had four progressive jackpots, a Mini, Minor, Major and WowPot Jackpot prizes. The Mini and Minor prizes were around the 10.00 and 100.00 mark with the Major jackpot around 50,000, however the WowPot jackpot was around the 2,000,000 mark.
The Jackpot Bonus game to unlock these prizes was not yet available on the demo version of the slot we played, or certainly we didn't unlock it, but it seems to be a Wheel of Fortune type reel where you can spin to win one of the four jackpot prizes.
It is this progressive aspect of the Wheel of Wishes mobile slot that has got most people talking as if the demo is correct, then we may well have a slot from Microgaming which has a base game minimum top progressive jackpot prize of 2,000,000 in your chosen currency. That is double the current prize on offer in the Mega Moolah progressive network.
Who created the Wheel of Wishes mobile slot?
Alchemy Gaming have created the Wheel of Wishes mobile slot but little is known about the company and details of the group, which was founded in 2019, are scarce on their official website. We do know that the company features a "select team of gaming alchemists" and that that the company will "strive to create the gold standard in gaming experiences exclusively for Microgaming".
It seems mathematics is the core of the teams passion and although little is known about them, we are willing to bet more information will come to light once the game has been released.
What type of slot is Wheel of Wishes mobile?
Based on the demo version, Wheel of Wishes mobile appears to be a progressive jackpot slot much in the same vein as Mega Moolah, with four different sized progressive jackpots available to be won and with a minimum bet value of just 0.20 per spin.
Can I play Wheel of Wishes mobile on desktop too?
From what we heard while the mobile version of Wheel of Wishes is likely to be the one played most by customers (mobile gaming is now more popular than desktop gaming), it is almost certain that you will be able to play Wheel of Wishes mobile on a desktop device too.
The chances of Microgaming or Alchemy Gaming making Wheel of Wishes mobile-exclusive is slim as it would preclude a significant percentage of their customer base from playing via their desktops, so I cannot see any possibility that the game could not be available on a desktop device.
I would also expect full support across Android and iOS devices for the slot, as is customary now for all Microgaming-bannered releases.
Why are Microgaming being so coy about the Wheel of Wishes mobile slot?
There's no doubt that with the release of a demo version, Microgaming are preparing the slot gaming community for a big game announcement in early 2020. Wheel of Wishes Mobile seems to be that slot and the fact it has taken an older WowPot game, and given it a vast revamp into what could be the biggest progressive jackpot game (in terms of initial seeding money) in the world today, is going to be huge for jackpot fans.
The fact that the Jackpot Bonus Wheel part of the game is still under wraps is not surprising and we can't wait to see how that part of the game works, in as much as we cannot wait to see the final product.
2020 is already shaping up to be one incredible year for Microgaming with this imminent new release. Who will be the first player to land that massive progressive jackpot prize?
