Wheel of Wishes slot: The game symbols and pay outs reviewed

With its 2 million seeded top progressive jackpot, not to mention a secondary progressive prize that is seeded at 50,000, the forthcoming general release of the Wheel of Wishes slot has got many people excited for what the future of this slot could hold.

It remains to be seen if such a large seeded top jackpot prize will propel the progressive to beat the current record amount paid out by an online slot. Much of course depends on how the game is set up, and how often the jackpot is triggered, and the only way that can really be discovered is by letting the game run for a significant amount of time.

Even then you may not get a good idea of how often the jackpot triggers. In its early days, the Mega Moolah slot was only won on a handful of occasions in some years, compare that to recent years, such as 2017, when the progressive jackpot was won on 13 occasions, or 2019, when we had a dozen winners.

So while it is too early to say how big the top progressive jackpot prizes on the Wheel of Wishes slot can grow to, what we can do is take a look at how the rest of the game is set up and give you the lowdown on the symbols used in the game, and how much each of these symbols can be worth.

Wheel of Wishes slot's Jackpot Bonus

With their being two game modes on the Wheel of Wishes slot, the base game mode and the exciting Power Mode, we will look at how the symbols differ on each and of course, we will begin by looking at the symbols on the reels in the base game.

Feature symbols

Wild Symbol

  • 3 Symbol Win - 4x (4.00)
  • 4 Symbol Win - 8x (8.00)
  • 5 Symbol Win - 50x (50.00)

The Wild symbol can also be used as a replacement symbol for any of the standard symbols outlined above, in addition to paying out when you land three or more Scatters from left to right on one of the ten pay lines.

The Wild symbol is also the only symbol that is stacked on the reels and it is possible to turn one or more reels entirely Wild on a spin. Land all three Stacked Wilds on each of the five reels and you can then win the largest base game jackpot prize which would be, for a 1.00 stake, 500.00 (the same as landing 5 Scatter symbols on the reel).

Scatter symbol

  • 3 Symbol Win - 5x (5.00)
  • 4 Symbol Win - 50x (50.00)
  • 5 Symbol Win - 500x (500.00)

To trigger a single, free to play Power Spin from the base game, you need to land just two Scatter symbols on the reels, although there is no pay out to the player for this. However, if you can land three or more of these symbols across the reels, you will not only trigger a free Power Spin, but also win the amount shown above depending on how many Scatters you land on that spin.

Base Game pay lines

There are ten pay lines in the base game and they are as follows:

  • Payline 1 - A straight line across the middle row of the reels
  • Payline 2 - A straight line across the top row of the reels
  • Payline 3 - A straight line across the bottom row of the reels
  • Payline 4 - A 'V' shape starting top left of the reels
  • Payline 5 - An inverted 'V' shape starting bottom left of the reels.
  • Payline 6 - Two outside middle reel symbols joined by three top reel symbols
  • Payline 7 - Two outside middle reel symbols joined by three bottom reel symbols
  • Payline 8 - First 2 Symbols on top row, middle symbol on middle row, last 2 symbols on the bottom row.
  • Payline 9 - First 2 symbols on bottom row, middle symbol on middle row, last 2 symbols on the top row.

Power Mode symbols

You can activate Power Mode on the Wheel of Wishes slot in two ways. Firstly, by landing two or more Scatter symbols in the base game, which gives you one free Power Spin, the other is by switching Power Mode on using the button available. This increases the size of your bet tenfold (so if your bet in the base game was 1.00, in Power Mode a single spin will cost you 10.00) but does mean that every spin you have is a Power Mode spin.

In Power Mode the lower value symbols listed above are not displayed on the reels and also the composition of the reel set changes. Instead of five reels, you have three, but the middle three reels are all combined into one large reel that has the super-sized Power symbols on, which are all 3x3 symbols in size.

Outside of these symbols, on the first and fifth reels, as the Power Spin is set in motion, these reels will slowly display the same symbol, selected from the higher value symbols above. This symbol is displayed in all three positions on each reel.

If you can then match the same Power symbol with those symbols, you can land a large value prize (all prizes in power mode are based on 5 symbol wins). Of course, the more of the Power symbol you land on the reel to match the symbol on the outside reels, the more chance you have of triggering a bigger value win (as you will trigger more winning pay lines).

The wins in Power Mode are the same value as in the base game, it is just that you will only win 5-symbol combinations and you have more chance of landing wins across multiple pay lines if you can land either 2/3 or all of the 3x3 Power Symbol on the large middle reel.

If you land the 3x3 Jackpot Wheel symbol in full on that large middle reel during a Power Spin, that is when you will trigger the Jackpot Bonus Game, where you will get to spin a wheel to win one of the four available progressive jackpot prizes.
