Will you beat the odds with the new Microgaming slot Lucky Little Gods?
Seeing as we are reviewing this just a couple of days after the Chinese New Year, it seems an appropriate time to run the rule over the new Microgaming slot, Lucky Little Gods, which is based on Chinese mythology and folklore. Specifically, the welcoming in of the Chinese New Year with the different Gods of Fortune and their assorted followers.
The slot comes packed with a total of four different bonus features (one of which is a Free Spins bonus round) and there is a biggest line prize of 1,500 coins up for grabs. It's a slot which can be played by all players too, with the 5-reels 243-ways to win costing between €0.30 and €300 to get spinning.
You can play this fantastic new slot at many of the casinos available from the Where to Play page, so let's take a closer look at what this brand new game has to offer.

The Lucky Little Gods slot is set high in the clouds with a large Chinese pagoda style temple and orange blossom tree in the distance to the left and another larger Chinese building to the right. It all looks rather ethereal and is a nicely designed slot, especially given what the main theme of the slot is.
The styling of the reels (which are not visible) is very much in a Chinese cartoon styling, similar to the Manga style cartoons that are so popular around the globe. Accompanying the on-screen action is a Chinese style soundtrack which is actually one of the better ones for Oriental themed games as it doesn't grate on the nerves and accompanies the on screen action very nicely.
All in all, the slot is presented simply, but nicely and as most Microgaming slots do, it has been designed to a very high standard in terms of quality of graphics and sound.
What is on the reels?
On the reels are a total of eight standard symbols. The Chinese writing characters are the lower value symbols, and these offer a range of pay outs of up to 5 times your stake for a win. One thing worth noting here though is that you only tend to make a profit if you land five across the reels, with all other wins offering you a smaller return than your standard bet.
Things improve when you look at the four Gods of Fortune and their apprentices' symbols. These offer pays of up to 50 times your standard bet and the good news here is that pays of 4 and 5 symbols will offer a profit over your standard bet, while on the two higher paying symbols (the two Gods), a three-symbol win will earn you a profit on your spin.
One thing to note in the base game is that the Little Gods Bonus game can trigger on any randomly selected non-winning spin. When this triggers, one of the Little Gods apprentices appear and will award you a cash bonus of between 4x and 40x your total stake.
There are four other symbols on the reels, the Lucky Little Gods Wild, Golden Tree Scatter Bonus, Treasure Pot Scatter Bonus and the Free Spins Scatter symbols, and all are related to the key features of the slot.
The Lucky Little Gods Wild substitutes for all of the symbols in the game except the three Scatter symbols outlined above. There's no pays available for landing consecutive Wilds across the reels, but they can substitute for any of the standard symbols to help land a win.
There are no multipliers attached to any wins completed with a Wild which is a bit of a disappointment.
Free Spins features
The Free Spins Scatter is the two Firework characters and if you land three, four or five scatters across the reels then you trigger an initial 8 free spins. During free spins, every time you land another scatter on the reels, then you will earn one additional free spin during the bonus round.
During Free Spins each of the first and fifth reels are turned completely Wild, which can help you land some great value wins
There are two other Scatter-based bonus features on the Lucky Little Gods slot to pay close attention to, the first of which is the Golden Tree Scatter Bonus, which occurs when you land the Golden Tree symbol on the first and fifth reels of the slot. This bonus can only be triggered in the base game and when you land it you will receive a cash prize of between 1x and 15x your total bet.
The other bonus is the Treasure Pot Scatter bonus which occurs when the Treasure Pot Scatter symbol lands in any position on the third reel. When triggered, you can then click on the Scatter to receive a coin prize of between 20x to 100x your total win and once again, this bonus can only be triggered during the base game, not during Free Spins.
Best feature of the Lucky Little Gods slot
I think the best thing about the Lucky Little Gods slot is that it is absolutely jam-packed full of features. That ensures that when you are playing through the base game, you have more than one bonus you can trigger and that does make playing the slot more exciting. You do need the bonus features however as the pays from the base game are generally small, although you can hit the occasional bigger value win as you can on any medium variance slot.
For me of all the bonuses, while the Free Spins round has the potential for the best value wins with those Wild reels, I personally think the Treasure Pot Scatter is the best feature as it only requires one symbol to land it and it offers the biggest value pay outs of all the Scatter bonuses in general. However, it is also the most difficult of all the bonuses to trigger based on my experiences of playing the game.
Lucky Little Gods is a very welcome addition to the growing number of oriental styled games on offer at Microgaming casinos. It has a wealth of different bonus games available which are all good value for money when triggered and that makes the base game more exciting to play through. Graphically, the slot looks nice too and musically it is perfectly judged. The one gripe is the generally small base game wins, but other than that, this is a very enjoyable medium variance game that should go straight to the top of your play list.
