Wowpot linked slots: What are all the Wowpot Jackpot networked games?

Having paid out more than €1.2 billion in prize money to lucky players all over the world, the Microgaming Progressive Jackpot Network has been one of the most popularly played for many years.

There are several games part of that network including the massively popular Mega Moolah series of games and the newer Wowpot Jackpot series of games.

In this article, we are going to focus on the games that are part, or will become a part, of the Wowpot Jackpot network and we will endeavour to bring you as much information as we can about all these games.

First though, let's learn a little more about how the Wowpot Progressive Jackpot came into being and the unusual thing about that story is that it begins with a progressive jackpot slot game of the same name.

What is the Wowpot Progressive Jackpot?

The story of the Wowpot progressive is an unusual one as it starts with a relatively small progressive jackpot slot called Wowpot! This game had a top progressive prize that could be measured in just a few thousand pounds and it was one of the Microgaming Progressive Jackpot network's smaller paying games.

Wowpot was available to play for many years but in 2019, the game was withdrawn from the Microgaming network. Players wondered why, but rumours were circulating that Microgaming were planning something of an overhaul of their progressive network and that the decision could well be linked in with that.

Those rumours turned out to be correct as in early 2020, after a small initial release across a few casinos, the new and revamped Wowpot Progressive Jackpot was revealed, as a key part of a brand-new slot game called Wheel of Wishes.

The new Wowpot Progressive Jackpot game had been radically altered from the original prize of just a few thousand. For one, there was no longer just one progressive available to be won, but four and secondly, the top prize, the Wowpot Jackpot, would be Microgaming's highest ever seeded progressive jackpot prize, coming in at a minimum seed amount of £2 million.

Wowpot Network seeding amounts

  • Mini Jackpot - £10.00
  • Minor Jackpot - £100.00
  • Major Jackpot - £50,000
  • Wowpot Jackpot - £2,000,000

The game that offered the first chance of the jackpot, Wheel of Wishes, was released across casinos in February 2020 but a short time later, Microgaming confirmed that they had big plans for their newly designed progressive jackpot and we now know some of the details about the current and forthcoming games that will give you a shot at landing this top prize.

What games can I play for the Wowpot Jackpot prizes?

At the time of writing, there is just one Wowpot Progressive Jackpot game available to play generally at casinos, but there are at least another two games coming that offer you a chance at all four jackpot prizes, and another that will offer you a chance to win the second-largest prize on offer, the Wowpot Major Jackpot prize. You can find all the Major Jackpot wins recorded so far on the WheelofWishes.net website.

Let's start though with the first game on that list, which was the game that brought us the first chance to play for the Wowpot Progressive Jackpot prizes.

  • Wheel of Wishes

Released in February 2020, after a small initial release across a small number of casinos, the Wheel of Wishes slot is a game that could be played in two ways. You could play the game as a standard slot game starting with a minimum bet of 0.10 per spin, or you could play in Power Mode, which meant that every spin could be a Jackpot Trigger but which cost you ten times the amount you would bet in the standard game mode. Watch our Power Mode video in our article: We play 50 Power Mode spins & 50 in the Base Game

In standard mode, you have a standard 5x3 reel set up with 10 pay lines in play across the reels. Wins in the base game are pretty standard for a slot of this type ranging from small to decent value wins for 5-symbols across the reels.

You can, of course, trigger Power Mode in the base game by landing two of the Power Mode Scatter symbols on the reels in the course of a spin, but it is only when you trigger the Power Mode, that you stand a chance of triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game.

This is triggered when you land the massive Jackpot Bonus Scatter fully in the middle reel in a Power Mode spin. Achieve this, and you get to spin the Jackpot Bonus Wheel and you will win one of the four progressive jackpot prizes available in the game.

However, a Power Spin most often results in either no win, or a smaller value win by matching symbols on the larger 3x3 symbols on the middle reel, with the symbols that appear on the first and fifth reels as the spin progresses.

It is worth noting that since the game began across all casinos back in February, the Wowpot Jackpot has not yet been won and has now climbed over the 5 million mark. However, there have been numerous triggers of the Major jackpot prize, which has consistently paid out prizes of between £50k and £300k since then. There have also been many winners of the two smaller jackpot prizes, both of which are triggered several times a day.

  • Book of Atem Wowpot

Currently on a limited release at a small number of casinos, but due a general release soon is the second slot game in the Wowpot series that will offer you a chance at the Wowpot Progressive Jackpot prizes. The Book of Atem Wowpot slot takes the All41 Studios standard slot game, that was released a few months back, and gives it a new lease of life by giving you the chance to play for the Wowpot Progressive Jackpot in this tweaked version.

This newer version of the game features much of what made the original Book of Atem slot so popular. It is still a 5x3 reel slot that has 10 pay lines in play and it also features the same Scatter Wilds in this game, which can not only help players land wins by substituting for symbols, but which can trigger a Free Spins bonus round too, if you can land three or more across the reels.

The way that the designers have tacked on the Wowpot Progressive to the game is nicely done. Each spin of the Book of Atem slot will not be a guaranteed chance to win the progressive prize, but rather like the Wheel of Wishes slot, each time you land a Wild Scatter symbol on the reel, whether it is a winning spin or not, you will 'collect' that Wild and this triggers a chance at landing the Jackpot Bonus Game.

The more of these Scatter Wilds you collect throughout the session and the more you can collect on each spin, then the more your chances of triggering the jackpot increase. In addition, the more you bet on each spin, then the greater your chances of landing a trigger increase with each Scatter Wild you land too.

If you are lucky enough, landing one or more of the Scatter Wilds at some point will trigger a shot at the Jackpot Bonus Wheel, which is a very similar one to on Wheel of Wishes slot. Simply spin the wheel and you will win one of the four progressive jackpot prizes on offer.

  • Sisters of Oz Wowpot

The next game in the Wowpot series that will offer you a shot at all four jackpot prizes is the forthcoming Sisters of Oz Wowpot slot by Triple Edge Studios. This is different type of slot to the two games mentioned previously, as it is a 5x4 reel, 20 pay line slot for starters, but it will offer you the same chance to land the Wowpot Progressive Jackpot as the other games.

However, the Sisters of Oz slot will also have some similarities with the games before it in that it will have a Free Spins bonus round, which will be triggered by three or more Scatters landing anywhere on the reels, and in that bonus round, you will have jumbo sized symbols on the middle three reels.

It also shares a similar jackpot trigger to the Book of Atem slot where coins will be collected and added to a cauldron as you play and each time you collect a coin, it offers you a chance of triggering the Jackpot Bonus Wheel. When the lid crashes down onto the Cauldron after a coin win, that is the signal that the Jackpot Bonus Game has been triggered.

Now you get to spin the bonus wheel and if you can land on that single Red Sector than you will win the huge Wowpot Jackpoit prize, Green equates to the Major Jackpot, with purple the Minor and blue the Mini jackpot prize.

We believe that the Sisters of Oz Wowpot Jackpot slot is set for release in late August, with a date of the 27th August seeming possible. Spins start at 0.20 per game, but can be increased up to 300.00 per spin for higher rollers.

  • African Legends

Due for release in October 2020, the African Legends slot is slightly different to the two aforementioned game as instead of offering a chance to win all four of the Wowpot progressive jackpot prizes, you will only be able to win the second largest Wowpot Major jackpot prize as part of this slot.

We know that Slingshot Studios are developing the game and they have been responsible for some of Microgaming's more interesting recent releases like A Dark Matter and Banana Odyssey. We also know that it is a 5x3 reel slot and that it will feature 243 Ways to Win rather than pay lines and that Rolling Reels and Multiplier Trails will feature heavily among the bonus features of the slot.

Indeed, consecutive Rolling Reels wins are the way to unlock the main bonus features of the slot. Not only do they increase the multiplier value of your win with each successive Rolling Reels win, but after four of these wins in a row, you will unlock Free Spins and if you can manage to put eight together in sequence, then you will win the Major jackpot prize.

This is a nice novel way to try and win the Wowpot Major progressive jackpot but this sizeable jackpot, which can award prizes of hundreds of thousands of pounds, is not the only reason to give the slot a try.

The game also has a fantastic Free Spins bonus game which sees the number of Free Spins you win increase with the number of triggers of Rolling Reels that you land. Hit four on a row to land 12 Free Spins with a 5x multiplier, five will see you land 15 Free Spins with a 6x multiplier, six and it is 18 Free Spins with an 8x multiplier and hit a lucky 7 wins in a row and you land the maximum 20 Free Spins which comes with a 10x multiplier on all of those Free Spins.

During the base game, you can also trigger the random Wild Blast bonus, which will add up to five additional Wild symbols onto the reels to help you land a win. This bonus only triggers on a standard spin though, not a Rolling Reels respin.

As you can see, with a couple of brand new Wowpot-linked progressive jackpot games coming very soon, and a new Wowpot Major jackpot linked slot due for October, it is a hugely exciting time for Microgaming's newest addition to its progressive jackpot network. As it stands, no player has yet won the Wowpot Progressive Jackpot but there is no doubt that the addition of these new games means that more players than ever are going to be playing to do precisely that and that at some point, some player, somewhere, will be the lucky one to be the first ever new Wowpot progressive jackpot winner!
