Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah has landed its first ever Mega Jackpot winner!
One of the more frustrating aspects when a lucky player lands a Mega Moolah top jackpot prize, is the fact that many of the casinos don't understand the news value of a big jackpot win.
One of the pieces of information that we at MegaMoolah.com are most interested in is which game the jackpot was triggered on. Unfortunately, this information can be quite hard to find, and you are often left wondering which game triggered a jackpot, unless you happen across a mention of it in the casinos press release or similar.
Well funnily enough, when I was trawling through the Microgaming website yesterday I stumbled across something very interesting regarding the wins we have seen landed on the Mega Moolah slot in 2020 and that was the fact that Microgaming are reporting that both their brand new releases for that progressive network in 2020, Atlantean Treasures and Absolootly Mad have both paid out a top progressive jackpot prize.
When was the Absolootly Mad jackpot won?
Now we knew that the player that landed the prize of NZ$13.6 million back on May 8 2020 won their prize playing the new Atlantean Treasures slot as this was widely reported at the time. This equates to a win of around €7.7 million. So we knew that this game had already crowned a winner.
However, what we did not know was that the second win in May, a CA$9.9 million win on the 24th of the month, which equates to around €6.5 million, was won while playing the other new game Absolootly Mad!
So how did I manage to confirm this? Well as I said, I was looking on the Microgaming site yesterday and in their jackpots section there is a time line of how the company developed and released the Mega Moolah and Wowpot progressive jackpot games and on that timeline, it mentions clearly that both Atlantean Treasures and Absolootly Mad have paid out big money Mega jackpot winners within just three months of their release and within a couple of weeks of each other.
Mega Moolah slots that have paid out big jackpots
This means that of all the Mega Moolah slots that have been available over the years, the top jackpot prize in the game has now been won on the following games confirmed:
- Mega Moolah
- Mega Moolah 5 Reel Drive
- The Dark Knight (discontinued)
- Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah
- Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah
This means that the only new Mega Moolah linked game not to see a confirmed win as yet is the Casino Rewards exclusive Mega Vault Millionaire slot.
However, when it comes to the number of jackpot winners for each game, the original Mega Moolah remains streets ahead of all its competitors who have at most a couple of big money wins to their name, while the original game has accounted for well over 90% of all the big money jackpot prizes that have been awarded in the game since it began.
Are big wins on the newer Mega Moolah slots that important?
Yes they are. They are important in a couple of notable ways. Firstly for Microgaming, it is a huge positive to see one of their brand new slot games pay out someone with a massive jackpot prize. In terms of free publicity and raising the profile of a new game, when a player lands a big money win, there is nothing better for a company.
Wins like this keep the game very much at the forefront of the minds of the slot playing public and of course, it shows that the mechanics that the company have spent a long time setting up for the game, are also working.
The knock on effect of this is then important for slot players all over the world who will see a new slot game and who may be wary that it doesn't perhaps offer as much of a chance to win as other games in the network. So when a game like Atlantean Treasures or Absolootly Mad does see players land big money wins, especially just a couple of months after the game was released, it gives slot players confidence that the game will pay out.
As such, that will attract more players to give the game a try and in that way, its popularity, and the speed of increase of the progressive jackpot prize, will only grow.
Why haven't we seen winners on some Mega Moolah slots?
This is a good question and an interesting one to ask and the truth of the matter is that it is likely a combination of two things. The first one being that the games that have not yet produced a winner are perhaps not quite as popularly played as the other games that have and secondly, it could well be down to pure luck. My gut feeling is though that it is a combination of both these factors that has played a role.
Mega Vault Millionaire is more interesting and in my view, it is likely the fact that this is an exclusive slot game, that can only be played on the Casino Rewards casinos, that is the reason we haven't seen a winner on that slot just yet, although I am confident one player will land the prize at some point in the near future.
In both cases, less popular or exclusive games generally tend to mean fewer spins played on them and with fewer spins you have less chance of triggering the top jackpot prize.
More data please!
Going forward while respecting the anonymity of players, it would be very useful if press releases or articles about a win contained information about it such as which game it was played on and which casino the prize was won at.
