Atlantean Treasures slot powered by Mega Moolah to be released soon
It has been a busy time at Microgaming HQ with a range of new progressive jackpot games that have just been released and more released coming in February 2020.
First, we had the release of the exciting Mega Vault Millionaire slot, the Casino Rewards exclusive game that offered players a new way to win the incredible Mega Jackpot.
Just a couple of months after the release of Mega Vault Millionaire towards the tail end of 2019, we are now on the brink of the general release of an exciting brand new progressive jackpot, the Wheel of Wishes slot. This new game offers customers the first ever 2 million seeded progressive jackpot prize (more than double the 1 million guaranteed seed of the Mega Moolah slot). Not only that, but it's Major Jackpot is five times higher (at 50,000) than the current seed amount on Mega Moolah.
That game hits casinos on a general release on the 11th February. There is a prerelease of the gmae at a select few casinos, which means you can play the Wheel of Wishes right now if you wanted to. Read about that prerelease here and which casinos are part of it.
In the meantime, Microgaming have stunned us all with the scheduled release of another game. This one is called the Atlantean Treasures slot, and while a new game release is nothing new for the Isle of Man-based company, a game that is linked to the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize, most certainly is.
Slated to hit casinos on or around the 28th February as far as we can ascertain, this new slot is from the team at Neon Valley Studios, who have been responsible for the release of the Aurora Wilds slot back in the autumn of 2019.
In a peculiar twist, that game featured four jackpot prizes (named the Mini, Minor, Major and Grand) and although these were static jackpot prizes, rather than progressives, the fact that players could win prizes between 900 coins and 120,000 coins made it hugely appealing.
Another aspect of the Aurora Wilds slot that was so appealing was that it had a distinctive game-play, which did away with Free Spins and instead offered Free Respins when Expanding Wilds were landed across any of the three middle reels.
Other slots with this type of game-play do not have progressive jackpots, something that Aurora Wilds addressed and my gut feeling is, Microgaming took a look at this and felt that by making those four jackpots progressives, the game could have even more appeal.
This has lead us to the imminent release of the Atlantean Treasures slot in just a couple of weeks time.
What is Atlantean Treasures?
One of the key things to note here is how the name of the slot is spelt. There is a different slot from a different provider called Atlantis Treasures, so it is important that you remember to use Atlantean as the first name for the slot, or you could end up playing the wrong game! Another way to check you are playing the right game is if the game carries the Mega Moolah logo, or it says Powered by Mega Moolah.
As soon as you take a closer look at the Atlantean Treasures slot though, the similarities between it and Neon Valley Studios first release, Aurora Wilds, becomes apparent. Essentially, what you have here is pretty much the same game structure. You have the 5x3 reels, the 10 pay lines and the fact that you can win from right to left as well as left to right across the reels.
That's great news for players as the ability to win both ways gives you two chances to win across each of the ten pay lines in play in the game.
There are seven symbols in the main game of the Atlantean Treasures slot. In order of increasing value, they start with the starfish and the green anemone and then there is a seahorse, a purple fish, a pink fish and then the two higher paying symbols, the blue 7 symbol and the Bar symbol. Once again, these symbols echo the layout of the Aurora Wilds slot.
One important thing to note with this game is that on some symbols on the reels, you will see small pearls. These are key to the process of unlocking the Jackpot Bonus game, which is the way you can land a shot at winning one of the four Mega Moolah progressive jackpots available.
Essentially, if you liked Aurora Wilds or any other game that follows in this particular game structure, then you are going to enjoy this particular type of game, but with the added bonus of being able to play for the massive Mega Moolah jackpot prize. Little wonder then, that so many slot players are so eager for this games release in late February!
What are the main bonus features on the Atlantean Treasures slot?
The main bonus on the Atlantean Treasures slot is all linked in with the Wild symbol. In this game this is the Mermaid symbol and she can land on any of the middle three reels. Each time she does, she will expand to cover the reel fully and also give you one additional free respin of the reels, with the Expanded Wild held in place on that reel.
On your Respin, if you land another Expanding Wild on one of the other middle reels, you will be paid out any winnings owed and then you will have a second respin. You could at this point land the third Expanding Wild on the remaining middle reel. If you do, you will be paid out and land another respin and one that is likely to guarantee you a sizeable base game win.
The more of these Expanded Wilds you can land, the better as it will increase your chances of landing multiple winning lines across the reels and when that happens, you can win considerably more than even the largest single pay line win.
However, it is the Mega Moolah jackpot prize that is going to be capturing the attention of most slot players when the game is released and with the jackpot currently running at over 5 million (at the time of writing), it is not difficult to see why.
How are the Mega Moolah jackpots linked in with the game?
To stand a chance of triggering the Jackpot Bonus game in Atlantean Treasures, you need to collect the pearls that appear on some symbols on the reels. The more of these you can collect, the more chance you have of triggering the (Mega Moolah) Jackpot Bonus.
This game, when triggered, plays very much like the original Mega Moolah Jackpot Bonus, with just a few cosmetic changes to make it fit in with the Atlantean Treasures theme. All you do is click on the button to start the reel spinning and depending on which of the four colours in the sectors that the pointer lands on, you will win the corresponding prize. Land the single gold sector and that Mega Moolah top progressive prize will be yours.
As yet, because we don't have a review version of the game to play and we are reliant on the information provided by Neon Valley Studios, we haven't been able to ascertain exactly how many pearls you need to collect and how the bonus actually triggers. No doubt when the game is released in February, we will get a lot more information on this, so keep your eyes peeled for the official review of this game which will come around then, if not on the day of release, then very shortly after it.
What is the verdict on the Atlantean Treasures slot?
It is difficult for a slot developer to know how well a slot will be received by customers. There is no rhyme or reason as to what makes a slot popular, but I think Microgaming have made a very smart decision here.
Harnessing this particular game structure, that has proven to be a smash hit success with millions of slot fans, and then adding to it the appeal of the Mega Moolah jackpot prizes, should (in theory at least), be a massive positive for slot players.
In essence, this is like playing one of their most favourite non-progressive slots of all time, and the fantastic Mega Moolah slot, at the same time, with the tangible rewards and electric game-play available in both of the other slots, available in just the one.
I would be hugely surprised if Atlantean Treasures is not a sure-fire smash hit success when it is released in February and I, for one, will be first in the queue to try my luck on the slot and to bring you an official review of this exciting new game.
