Presentation
It must be said that Just For The Win pulled out all the stops for their latest Microgaming release and the studio have produced one of their most impressive looking and sounding slots ever. The backdrop of the slot is very cartoon-style and looks a bit basic at first, but once the game kicks off and you see how the symbols are designed, everything makes sense as this slot is based on cartoons from the 1980s and 90s.
The soundtrack to the slot is a fantastic heavy rock riff that doesn't just repeat endlessly after a few bars, but which accompanies the fast paced soundtrack. Add to that some outstanding effects and visuals, which ramp up the excitement and you have a game which looks and sounds absolutely superb, especially when played on headphones. This is one of those games that is most definitely better played loud rather than quietly!

Where to play the Aurora Beast Hunter slot?
You can play the Aurora Beast Hunter slot at any of the Mega Moolah casinos on the Where to Play page, Bonus page, Rewards page or Country page.
What is on the reels?
The first thing to note about the reels is that its an unusual set up. There are five reels, but the number of symbols on each reels are three for the first, third and fifth reels, with four symbols shown on the second and fourth reels.
There are nine standard symbols on the reels and these start with the four playing card symbols, Jack, Queen, King and Ace, which offer wins ranging from a tenth of your bet up to 1.5x your bet.
The higher value symbols are the nunchucks, the throwing stars, the pistol and the chain gun and these offer wins from 0.4x your bet up to 6x your bet.
The final symbol is Aurora herself, who is the highest paying symbol in the game and she can come stacked up to four symbols high across the reels. Wins with Aurora start at 1.2x your bet and increase up to 12.5x your bet.
Those win amounts seem very small but it is worth remembering that you can win across multiple pay lines from the same spin on this slot and the fact that there are so many bonus features to trigger (as we will explore below) means that wins tend to come along relatively frequently too.
Wild features
There are a number of different Wild features in the Aurora Beast Hunter slot and they start with the standard Wild symbol which is used chiefly as a substitute but which can also generate its own wins when landed across the reels with other Wilds generated in the game. This offers the same value wins as the highest value standard symbol, Aurora, as outlined above.
In addition to this there are a number of randomly triggered base game features, all of which are based around adding extra Wilds of different kinds to the reels.
The first is the Cash Prize random base game. Here you will be guaranteed to land either an Expanding Wild or a Stacked Wild on the reels and if you land the Expanding Wild you win 1.5x your bet, if you land a Stacked Wild, you will win 2x the bet.
The next bonus is the Random Wild bonus feature which can trigger on any spin and which will award between one and five regular Wild symbols anywhere across the first, third and fifth reels, which of course gives you a much better chance of landing a win.
The final random base game bonus is the Sticky Wild Stack bonus which will see at least one Expanding Wild or Stacked Wild guaranteed and this will turn into a Sticky Wild, remaining in place on the reel, while you take a respin of the other reels to see if you can land a winner.
One nice touch is that the different Wilds are all designed to look like the monsters that Aurora Beast Hunter has to battle, so the game really looks excellent when they kick in.
Free Spins features
The Scatter symbol in the game is the 4x4 car which appears on the first, third and fifth reels. When you and all three of these Scatters on the reels then you will trigger the Free Spins bonus round. If you land just two, you also trigger a respin of the reel without the Scatter on it to see if you can land it with one more opportunity, which is a nice touch.
When you trigger Free Spins, there are three different options open to you, which roughly equate to higher, medium and lower variance bets.
The highest variance offering is The Sub Sticky Wild Stack bonus. Here you get just 5 Free Spins, but after each spin, one reel is marked at random and if there is an Expanding or Stacked Wild on that reel, it will turn into a Sticky Wild Stack. This then remains in position for all remaining Free Spins.
Furthermore, for each Sticky Wild Stack you land, you also receive one more additional Free Spin added to your total.
For a medium variance option, there is the Danger Zone Random Wild Free Spins bonus which sees you awarded 8 Free Spins. With this option on every spin the Random Wild feature will trigger and adds between one and five regular Wilds onto the reels in any position.
Finally, the lower variance option is the Sandstorm Cash Prize bonus game, which sees you land 12 Free Spins and in this bonus, if you land an Expanding Wild, you win 1.5x the standard bet you make and a Stacked Wild will see you earn 2x your standard bet in winnings.
Best feature of the Aurora Beast Hunter slot
There is a lot to like with the Aurora Beast Hunter slot. The game looks and sounds fantastic and there are so many bonuses you can trigger and a choice of Free Spins bonus games, that you don't feel like the game is just stuck in a rut. The lower variance of the slot also makes it more friendly on the pocket too, while still offering a shot at some decent prizes, with up to 5,000x your bet amount available to be won on the higher variance of the Free Spins bonus games. For me, it is this choice of Free Spins bonus that really makes the game so enjoyable, triggering many different bonus features and allowing players great freedom of choice.
Conclusion
This is a hugely impressive offering from Just For The Win. Aurora Beast Hunter perfectly captures the essence of those massive 1980s and 90s cartoon TV series and not only that, but puts those elements together into a hugely fun and action-packed slot, bursting with bonuses and Free Spins features. Some of the base game wins can be on the small side, but that tiny niggle apart, this is a hugely fun and enjoyable game to play and will be one you keep coming back to play a few spins on repeatedly.
