Diamond Inferno slot set to burn brightly upon release at Microgaming casinos
Next week, Triple Edge Studios latest exclusive slot for Microgaming will hit casinos. Diamond Inferno promises to be the latest of an outstanding selection of games produced by the studio for Microgaming.
The recent slots by Triple Edge Studios includes the likes of Book of Oz Lock 'N Spin Hyperspins, African Quest, Attack on Retro and the Mega Moolah-linked progressive jackpot slot Absolootly Mad.
So, what will the latest release from Triple Edge look like? What are the main features that we can look forward to when we review the Diamond Inferno slot next week? Fortunately, we have been given the chance to take a quick look at the slot ahead of its release and this is what we have discovered about the new game.
Diamond Inferno preview
So what do we know about the Diamond Inferno slot? Well according to Triple Edge Studios own blurb about the game you are in for "nail biting play, fiery visuals and amped-up sounds" as well as a 'real thrill ride of a game". All of which sounds very enticing.
The first thing that is immediately apparent about the Diamond Inferno slot is that it is not your typical 5x3 reel slot. Sure, there are five reels in play on the game and you start with just 20 pay lines and 3 symbols in play, but you can see that there are three other rows of symbols that have been blacked out above the reels in play.
That is because the Diamond Inferno slot expands the number of symbols on each reel with each successive win and not only that, as you expand the number of symbols available on each reel from three to four to five to six, you will also increase the number of pay lines available from 30 to 40 to 50.
Once you reach the top level of a 5x6 reel set with 50 pay lines in play, any subsequent wins will trigger the Multiplier Trail at the top of the screen, which will increase from 2x, to 3x to 5x to 10x with successive wins.
Furthermore, at any point in the game, you can trigger the Scatter Diamond Prizes on the reels. These are symbols that if landed three times on the reels, will award you a cash prize immediately for each diamond, regardless of what position they are in on the reels.
It all sounds rather exciting and very different to your usual slot game, so what else is there we should know about the Diamond Inferno slot?
Theme and Design
It is hard to know exactly what the slot is about. The game is designed to resemble some kind of fiery furnace, presumably within the earth as this is where the pressure is great enough to create diamonds in the first place. The effects and the sounds used in the game though look excellent, with a heavy rock soundtrack, a wide number of sound effects and a rather enthusiastic chap shouting out the different kinds of wins that you land on the reels.
The game looks excellent on mobile devices as well as your standard desktop or laptop and as such, it will be an engaging play regardless of what device you play it on.
What is notable about the design however is that the game is solely focused on its main feature of those expanding reels, increasing pay lines and eventually the multipliers and Diamond Scatter wins. There isn't a Free Spins bonus round to aim for and it is all about landing a win, any win, in order to expand those reels and then land consecutive wins from there to increase the value of your win.
I always think that it is a risk when a game is released without a Free Spins bonus available within it, but with Diamond Inferno, the Free Respins you get after a win are a massive bonus in the game and of course, the more of these you can re-trigger with consecutive wins, the more valuable that potential bonus can become for the player.
Expanding Reels Games
Diamond Inferno is not the first game that features reels that expand in size. A number of games have used a similar approach in the past with mixed results, but at first glance, the Diamond Inferno slot should be one of the better games to offer the feature.
One thing I am keen to test out when I look at the slot in more detail next week is just how often the wins trigger on the game. This, to me, will be the make or break aspect of the slot. If the wins don't trigger very often, then I can see this game's appeal diminishing a great deal. On the other hand, if the wins trigger relatively frequently and offer you a decent chance of triggering respins and wins, then I think it's appeal will be huge.
Striking the balance here is key and it will be interesting to see how the variance of the slot plays out and whether it is a game that excites and engages players, or one that ultimately frustrates them.
One positive to note in the game is that you can see symbols stacked at least two high on the reels, but there is a Wild symbol in the game and this symbol not only serves as a standard substitute for other symbols, but it can also be stacked very high on the reels and even fill the completed six-symbol reel in full to turn it entirely Wild and it does look as though these symbols will be vital to players in the main game.
One feature I do like about the slot is the selection of symbols. The game uses a number of different symbols on the reels, many of them retro-styled, and this includes symbols like the Lucky 7 symbol, the playing card low symbols, plus a number of other symbols including stars, dollar signs, dice, gold bars and more.
With the potential for some very big wins thanks to those multipliers, especially the 10x multiplier, little wonder that many slots fans cannot wait to get their hands on the Diamond Inferno slot when it is released later next week.
