Presentation
The presentation on the Super Showball slot is very simple. At the very top of the screen are the winning patterns displayed and underneath them is the ball machine and the cages where the balls are displayed. The double cage is for the standard game balls and the single cage at the top is for the Extra Balls which can be drawn at the end of a standard game.
The four cards in play are displayed below this, as is the Bet Per Ticket button and the Play and Auto button are located to the side of the cards. It is a very easy, what you see is what you get set up that makes the game very easy to play.
The music on the game is also nicely done and the animations for the ball selector are also excellent and look very much like the lottery-style machines that you see in these big money draws.
How do I play Super Showball?
Playing Super Showball is simple. You can select how many cards to play (from one to four), though we would advise playing with four cards to ensure you have all the top jackpots and bonus features available.
On each card there are 15 numbers, no number is duplicated on either card. In total there are 60 numbers shown on your cards between 1 and 90. Those 60 numbers are the ones you can see bouncing around in the ball selector at the top of the screen. You can select a new card by clicking on it, which will generate a new set of 15 numbers.
Once you have set your bet per ticket amount, simply press play and the game will begin. A total of 30 balls are drawn at random from the ball selector into the double cage at the top of the screen. As the balls are drawn, the corresponding number I marked off your card at the bottom of the page.
After 30 balls have been drawn you can then check the patterns the drawn numbers have made on your card to see if you are a winner.
If one of your ticket is close to triggering a prize of 8x your bet or higher, then you can play the Extra Balls bonus, which is outlined in the bonus section below.
At the end of the game, when all balls have been drawn (including any extra balls), the players winnings (if any) are paid out and a new game begins with new number cards.
What are the winning patterns?
There are essentially 15 different winning patterns that you can land on any of your cards in Super Showball. The more symbols involved in a pattern, then the more you tend to win, although for some patterns, it is the type of pattern landed, rather than the number of symbols that defines how much you will win.
The 15 types of winning pattern and the amount you can win (expressed as a multiplier) are as follows:
- Full Card (all 15 squares filled) - 1,500x
- The Vault (all outside positions around the card filled and internal positions empty) - 750x
- The Safe - 500x
- The oin Hopper - 200x
- Double Line (any two lines completed) - 100x
- W and M patterns - 80x
- 0 and XX patterns - 40x
- Arrow up and Arrow down patterns - 10x
- + pattern - 8x
- Thin Arrow Up and Thin Arrow Down Patterns - 3x
- Single Line - 3x
You can land wins across multiple cards on any game and you can land multiple wins from the same card as you mark more numbers off the card. If your ticket is close to one of the prizes of 200x or more, then it will be highlighted.
What are the bonus features?
The main bonus feature on the slot is the Extra Ball option. If one of your tickets is close to a prize of 8x or more your bet, then you have the chance to buy an extra ball from the ball dispenser at the price shown. The price will vary depending on the value of the prize you are close to.
If you choose to buy a ball this is in addition to your game cost, but you could also win a couple of other bonuses. You can be awarded Free Balls during the Extra Ball game, or if you have all four cards in play, you can also win a Mystery Prize. These are Diamond, Gold, Silver and Copper prizes and they range from 10x your bet up to 11,000x your bet.
You can buy as many or as few extra balls as you see fit in the bonus game and these balls are then marked off your cards, which can create additional wins to any already landed in the base game.
The other bonus feature is the Jackpot which is awarded if you manage to mark off an entire 15 number card in the first 30 balls drawn. If you do this, then you will land the jackpot prize which is valued at 4,000x your bet.
Who will the game appeal to?
There is no doubt that the Super Showball game will definitely appeal to customers that enjoy bingo or keno type games. However, I also feel that given the speedy nature of the game and the Extra Ball element, which allows for a little strategy, and the fact that the base game is entirely based on chance, does mean that this game will have real appeal for slots players too. You can play four cards from as little as 0.40 per game, which is on a par with what many slots cost to play.
Add to that some good value wins available, including a maximum of 11,000x your bet as a winning prize, and you also have some bigger value jackpots that will appeal to players too.
Conclusion
Super Showball is an interesting addition to the Microgaming range, albeit through content aggregator partner Neko Games, but it does show that Microgaming are really diversifying their content. Having also signed a deal with Inspired Games to offer Virtual Sports on their platforms, it seems that the company is expending not just the volume and quality of its slots on offer, but also the sheer range of games it is offering too.
Super Showball is a nice change of pace that will have instant appeal to bingo and keno players, but which I feel also has real appeal for slots fans too. It is simple to follow, easy to play, affordable and offers something different for players to enjoy. Those high value jackpots and bonuses mean that playing with less than four cards isn't really worthwhile, but with all four cards played, this is a very enjoyable way to spend a bit of cash.
