How to play through £20 in real money on the new Absolootly Mad slot
When covering an aspect of a slot game, I always think that the reader must wonder whether we put our money where our mouth is, to use a turn a phrase. After all, there is not much point in telling you how to play a game, if we are not prepared to do that ourselves, for real money, just as a typical player would play the game.
So, with that in mind, we decided to offer you something a little different to the norm. In short, a series of articles where we will play through a stated amount of money on one of the popular slots in the Mega Moolah series. In time we will cover the original Mega Moolah, plus Atlantean Treasures and Mega Vault Millionaire, but we are going to kick off the series with the newest game in the group, the newly released Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah slot which hit casinos just last week (5th May 2020).
Furthermore, to enhance this article, we have taken a video of the session, which shows you exactly how our session on the slot went and in this video you can see in real time and with your own eyes, exactly how the things I describe in this article happened in real time.
The video also features myself offering you a commentary alongside the events happening on screen, so you get to hear my dulcet tones explaining what you are seeing on screen and why.
This is really a good starting point for anyone interested in playing these games but who may not have yet done so. However, if you are a player who finds yourself with an empty account at the end of the session, then there's some good tips for you and for players of all experience too.
Let us now take a look at how the session went and what happened during the 22 minutes or so that I played through my cash.
Part One : Find the slot, depositing and setting the stake amount
It goes without saying that if we are going to play the Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah slot then you need to find a casino that offers it. Although the game was released last week, there can be a delay between the game being released and it becoming available in your preferred casino, so do check that the game is there to play before you deposit your cash.
Once you have found a casino you want to play at, simply deposit your cash into your account. I used £20.00 as it is a common amount for people to deposit at the casino. I didn't get any deposit bonus on this as I had been a member for a while (although I was later awarded 10 Free Spins on another slot as a special weekend bonus as I had deposited, for which I won the princely sum of £0.30!).
Once the cash was deposited and confirmed, I loaded up Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah and the first thing I did when the game had loaded was check the stake size. It is very easy to forget to do this and click the spin button, but do that and you risk playing for 2.00 per spin, or whatever the default amount is at the casino you play at.
With a £20.00 budget, there is no leeway in terms of the value of your spins you can play. I played the minimum bet of 0.20 per spin on all my spins and if you are going to replicate this, I would recommend you do the same to ensure you get as many spins as possible for your money.
With that done, it was now time to start the game. I played my session on Friday 8th May at about 11am in the morning. This is important as will become apparent a little later in the article.
Part Two: Playing the game and hitting Free Spins
In the video of the session, you will note that once we start spinning the reels, it isn't too long before we hit the first win. This ties in with the fact that Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah, like the other games in the series, isn't a particularly high variance game. Wins, although generally of smaller amounts, do tend to come pretty regularly and on average I think I picked up a win every 3-4 spins throughout the session.
I have replicated this hit rate on other Mega Moolah slots too and of course, while some wins are low amounts, you do get the occasional higher value win which boosts your balance back up considerably and keeps you topped up with cash.
If you watch the balance of my account as we play, you will see several times it drops down but then I hit a win that boosts it back up again. This is generally how sessions on any Mega Moolah slot goes (if you are playing it at the right bet amount for your balance).
People that run out of money when playing Mega Moolah usually make one of three mistakes (or sometimes all three). Firstly, they bet too much compared to their bank balance. Had I bet 0.40 then my session would have ended when my balance dropped below £10.00. That's a big difference. Secondly, they may win an amount of money and then increase their bet size as their balance has increased, which means that they bet too much. Finally, they may just spin for too long a time until their money runs out.
As I play the game I had a nice mix of three, four and five symbol wins which kept my balance topped up nicely and it wasn't too long before I landed two Scatters and a Wild to trigger the first Free Spins bonus round that I landed.
- Free Spins Bonus Round 1
I was happy to trigger the Free Spins bonus round to get to show you how it works and to boost my balance. However, while I managed to achieve one of those things, the other didn't quite go to plan!
In my first Free Spins trigger, I showed you the Free Spins in the video and I won precisely nothing from the bonus round. This is very rare as usually you win at least a small amount, if not a much better win, so I was very surprised to hit the bonus and end up with precisely the same amount of money that I started it with. I think you can tell my disappointment clearly in the video.
However, as I remarked then, this is what happens sometimes when you trigger a bonus. It is not a guarantee of a decent win or indeed any win at all. Your Free Spins can play out generously, or they can be very very tight and it just so happened that on my first trigger, the luck wasn't with me.
After another 10-15 minutes or so, I then triggered the Free Spin Bonus round again, this time with three Scatters for another 8 Free Spins and this time it was a little more lucrative.
- Free Spins Bonus Round 2
This time around on the Free Spins bonus, I did land some very pleasing wins and after my eight Free Spins, I had landed a total win of just under £12. This added to my balance (which was around £5 at the time) meant that I was almost back to the starting amount of money that I had had in my account at the beginning.
This round was much more typical of a winning Free Spins round and in the end, I won around 64x my standard stake in the bonus game, which is not to be sniffed at.
Part Three: Concluding the session & jackpot trigger
At this point, I had pretty much spent through an entire £20, if not more when you add in the wins that I had landed in the course of my session and after around 22 minutes of play, I had a balance of over £17 in my account. Which means a net spend of under £3 for a 22 minutes session on the Absolootly Mad Slot.
Again, this is not dissimilar to the kind of sessions I have had on other Mega Moolah slots, notably the original which to me was the most similar experience to playing Absolootly Mad. It also clearly shows that far from being a bankroll munching higher variance slot, that Absolootly Mad does tend to play much more like a lower variance game.
Of course, the one aspect of the slot we did not get to see in the video was the Jackpot Bonus Wheel game. During our session, we had many chances to land a shot at the jackpot (by collecting coins and then triggering the Rolling Reels bonus with a win) but fortune didn't favour us this time.
Again, this is typical on a Mega Moolah slot. You can trigger the game quickly, but in truth, you are more likely not to, unless you are betting the maximum amount, for very long periods of time with almost limitless funds. The vast majority of players cannot do that, so it is very much a waiting game and a test of patience.
However, the Jackpot Bonus Wheel can trigger for any player at any time and literally not less than an hour after I had finished my session, news came through that one player has won the jackpot prize, pocketing over NZ$13 million in the process. So near, but yet so far!
I hope this article and the accompanying video will give you a good idea of how to play this slot and what it offers and I also hope you'll tune in when we look in the same detail at three other Mega Moolah progressives in the coming weeks.
