It's no joke for record-busting Swedish Mega Moolah jackpot winner!

Given that so many winners of the Mega Moolah jackpot prize have opted to remain anonymous, it is hard to locate information on players that have won in some countries. While it is good guess that a Canadian Dollar winner for example, has won their prize in Canada, for players in the Europe, it is more difficult to pinpoint exactly which country the winner comes from.

The winner landed a prize of €14,239,532.84 on the 17^th August 2020, to become not just the fifth winner of the Mega Moolah top jackpot prize in 2020, but also the fourth largest winner of an online progressive jackpot prize in the world and the single biggest jackpot winner from Sweden to claim a prize from an online casino.

The record busting win easily surpasses the previous record amount won by a Swedish player which amounted around 80 Million Swedish Krona (around £6.95 million) which was won way back in 2015. While there have been other jackpot winners over the years from the country that have won millions, this is the first time that we have hit three figures for a Swedish Krona win, with the latest Mega Moolah win amounting to around 146 Million Swedish Krona in total.

Although the details about the winning player have been kept a closely guarded secret, the casino at which he won his prize has released a little information about the win and included in that is an interview with the player where he talked about his win and about playing the Mega Moolah slots in general.

This latest winner from Scandinavia becomes the latest big money winner from that part of the world and it echoes one of the most famous wins in Mega Moolah history, which occurred over 12 years ago now for one lucky player who landed their prize in the neighbouring country to Sweden, Finland.

That player was called Klaus E and on the 22^nd April 2008, he placed a 0.50cent bet on the Mega Moolah slot and saw the Jackpot Bonus Game trigger On spinning the wheel, he landed the pointer in that single white sector to land a prize that was worth $5.5 million US Dollars.

Klaus' comments about his win have gone down in Mega Moolah legend as the fortunate Finn explained:

So I just got up from my table, went outside to clear my head and then came back in again for another look and noticed five and a half million dollars sitting in my casino account!"

While there may well have been other Scandinavian winners of the Mega Moolah jackpot, particularly of the Euro or US Dollar prizes, details about these winners have not been forthcoming so it is hard to verify whether any more winners have been landed from this particular part of the world.

2020 - The year for big Mega Moolah winners

This latest Mega Moolah jackpot win is the fifth win in 2020 so far in what is quickly becoming the year of fewer, but much larger individual winners of the Mega Moolah jackpot prize.

In 2017, when we saw a record-breaking 13 Mega Moolah winners landed, there were no prizes of over 9.572 million won by any of the lucky players. In 2019, we saw two big money winners landed early on in the year, but the remaining ten winners last year all won less than ten million.

However, 2020 has been a little different in terms of how players have been paid when the jackpot has been triggered. After a four month wait, we landed our first winner of over CA$16.4 million on April 5th and then this was followed with another big win of over NZ$13.6 million on May 8^th.

We then had two other winners in May, a CA$9.9 million winner on 24^th and then three days later a CA$4.4 million winner also from Canada. We then had to wait almost another three months until the latest winner, but by then the jackpot had climbed to over 14.2 million.

This means across 2020, we have seen over 58 million paid out to the five lucky jackpot winners, meaning that on average each jackpot prize winner this year has taken home just a tad more than 11.75 million on average. In terms of yearly average, you are going to be hard pushed to find any year that has an average win amount of anywhere near that prize, with perhaps only 2015 (which saw just two winners averaging around 10 million each) coming anywhere near close.

Since the win, the Mega Moolah jackpot reset back to around 1.8 million but has since increased to stand at 3.3 million currently. Remember, the jackpot can be won by any player, at any time and for any amount.
