Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx slot announced by Microgaming

This week in the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, a total of 650 different companies from around the world with an interest in online gaming, will be present to participate in one of the biggest events of the summer iGB Live!

The event will see a massive number of companies from across the globe come together to showcase some of their upcoming releases for industry experts and insiders as well as those interested in the online gaming industry and what new slots, for example, are set for release over the next few months or so.

The Isle of Man-based company Microgaming will, of course, be in attendance at the event and they have chosen to preview two forthcoming slot games, the first of which is arguably some of the most exciting pre-release news to come out of the company for some time, as that is because the iconic adventurer Jungle Jim is set to dust off his backpack and embark on another journey.

Jungle Jim's story began with the original Jungle Jim El Dorado slot back in June 2016. The game saw the eponymous hero venture into the Amazonian rain forest in search of the fabled City of Gold.

One of the most striking features of the slot, alongside some truly colossal value wins, was the use of Rolling Reels. This bonus feature saw the symbols fall down onto the slot from above, rather than using standard reels, and when a win was landed, the winning symbols forming that line would disappear. This would then see any symbols from above drop down into the now vacant position on the reels.

This of course, could trigger additional wins and if you could string wins of this type together, you would also move the bar on the Multiplier, increasing the multiplier that was applied to successive wins. The value of this multiplier would increase when you triggered the main Free Spins bonus feature on the slot.

With cutting edge graphics and animations, Jungle Jim El Dorado was a smash hit success for Microgaming and it is little wonder that the adventurer is set to make his comeback in a brand new slot which has been pegged for release some time in Autumn 2019.

Developed by Stormcraft Studios, the Microgaming partner that have been responsible for a number of exciting releases by the company in recent months, such as Fortunium, Dragon Shard and another sequel to a Microgaming original, Agent Jane Blonde Returns, the new adventure is called Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx. At the moment, details about the new game are being kept closely under wraps, we can reveal that it is going to be a larger than usual slot, with a 5x5 reel set and a total of 50 pay lines in play, although we don't know whether they will be selectable or not (although given the size of the reels, I would suggest that it will be a fixed 50-pay lines in play on each spin).

It is going to be interesting to see whether Stormcraft Studios, who were not afraid to make some drastic changes to the Jane Blonde franchise when they reinvented it earlier this year with Agent Jane Blonde Returns, have given the slot a complete revamp and will offer players something very different. Although we do know that some features from the original slot will be retained.

Speaking about the forthcoming game and the companies participation at iGB Live!, Jean-Luc Ferriere, the Chief Commercial Officer at Microgaming confirmed this when he stated:

"Given the success and popularity of Jungle Jim El Dorado, we are really looking forward to teasing the iconic character's next outing, this week at iGB Live! The new game includes outstanding artwork and entertaining mechanics including the popular. Rolling Reels feature, and Stormcraft Studos have set a new benchmark in visual storytelling in our industry."

If you are interested in attending the iGB Live! event in Amsterdam, it takes place on the 17th and 17th July 2019, with Microgaming showcasing their products at Stand R13. Why not pop along for an ice-cream and to take a look at some demonstrations and previews of their new game.

What we would like to see in a new Jungle Jim slot?

The original Jungle Jim El Dorado slot's key element was the Rolling Reels feature and it is great to see that Stormcraft Studios have used this element as the central theme to their new slot.

Beyond that though we are excited to see what Stormcraft do with this game. They made an excellent job of updating the Agent Jane Blonde series earlier on this year and if they have approached the Jungle Jim franchise in the same way then slot gamers could well be in for a treat.

So not only are we expecting some eye-catching graphics and the fabulous sound and looks that come with a Stormcraft Studios slot, but we are also expecting to see some innovative bonus features that not only pay tribute to the bonuses of the original game, but which also fit in nicely with the Egyptian theme of the slot.

Ancient Egypt is a very popular choice for a slot theme and so it is important that Stormcraft Studios do make every effort to make this slot stand out. The Jungle Jim name should be good for initial interest in the slot to be piqued, but to make people play the game, it needs to hit all the right marks for an enjoyable slot experience.

However, Stormcraft Studios have already shown in their collaborations with Microgaming that this something they are more than capable of doing, so we are excited to see what they have done with this iconic slot both in the preview in Amsterdam this week and also when it finally hits casinos in the Autumn later this year.
