Major Millions jackpot slot hits 2 million for the second time

Over the last few weeks, you will have been forgiven for thinking that the online casino world revolves around progressive jackpot slot gaming.

Last week we have had the triumphant release of the new Wheel of Wishes slot, complete with its 2 million seeded progressive jackpot top prize. Not only that, but the Mega Moolah's Mega Jackpot has climbed to over 8 million over the weekend, while there is another slot game in that series, Atlantean Treasures, set to be released generally across casinos later this month.

Add to that the Mega Vault Millionaire release at Casino Rewards casinos at the tail end of 2019, and it is clear that Microgaming have targeted their extensive progressive jackpot network of games for something of an overhaul.

However, they need to do this carefully, as there is still plenty of life left in many of the older games in this series and there is no better example of that than what is happening with the great Major Millions progressive jackpot slot game at the moment.

Major Millions - A brief history

One of the older games on the Microgaming progressive jackpot network, Major Millions is not just one slot, but actually it is two. There are three-reel and five-reel versions of the game available, both based on a very similar theme, with similar symbols used on the reels. Each game is set up differently though, with different numbers of winning lines in each and different base game prizes.

However, to win the progressive jackpot on either game you need to bet the maximum amount of 3.00 per spin and, what is equally important to note, your chances of winning the top jackpot prize are the same regardless of which of the 3-reel or 5-reel version of the game you play.

The slot's theme is the military and the symbols on the reels reflect that with symbols such as a tank, a heavy bomber, a top secret envelope, a warship and binoculars among the symbols on the reels. The Major himself is the Wild symbol in the game and this symbol is key to landing the progressive jackpot prize.

In the 3-reel version of the game, you need to land three of the Majors on the third pay line to land the top prize, in the 5-reel version of the game, you need to land him on the 15th pay line on that slot. When you do, the riches in the progressive jackpot fund are yours.

Major Millions jackpot history

What has made Major Millions so interesting, especially at the present moment, is that once again, its top jackpot prize has increased, not just beyond the 1 million mark, but now beyond the 2 million mark too, currently standing at around 2.3 million.

That is somewhat notable, because the new Wheel of Wishes slot, which has a seeded top Wowpot prize pool of 2 million, has a jackpot prize of just over 2.1 million at present, which means that the Major Millions slot actually offers players a larger jackpot prize than the brand new Microgaming progressive at the moment.

Many thought that this situation wouldn't last and that over the last few days, the Wheel of Wishes progressive prize would swell to grow beyond that of the Major Millions slot, but in actual fact, if anything the Major Millions jackpot prize has increased the gap between it and the new progressive on the block.

The fact that the Major Millions slot has climbed above 2 million once again is also noteworthy. Although we have had a number of jackpot prizes claimed over the 1 million mark over the years on the Major Millions slot, the number of times that it has crept past the 2 million mark is far fewer.

Indeed, there is just one other occasion when the Major Millions jackpot increased to above the 2 million mark, and that came in the summer of 2018, when it rose above 2 million in July before it was claimed later on in the season in August by a player who landed a 2.8 million prize,

With the prize now already beyond the 2.3 million mark, and increasing with every tick of the clock, could we be set to see a potentially new and record winning prize amount to be handed out to one lucky winner on the Mega Moolah slot in the coming weeks?

Bumper time for Microgaming progressive players

There's no doubt that thanks to its elevated prize fund, there will be many players trying their luck on the Major Millions slot over the coming days and weeks, and along with the Mega Moolah progressive prize, which currently stands at 8.3 million and shows no sign of slowing down, they are among the most attractive options for punters that enjoy progressive slot games.

The Wheel of Wishes slot also has a prize pool of 2.1 million at the time of writing, while it should also be noted that the King Cashalot slot has also seen its top progressive jackpot prize rise to just under 975,000 over the last few weeks and if that slot continues on its present upward curve, then it too could crash through the million mark.

That means, Microgaming players have a choice of three different slot games that already promise a top jackpot prize of over 2 million, three over 8 million (powered by Mega Moolah), plus there is another that is offering a prize of just under a million too.

2020 is already shaping up to be an incredible year for progressives at Microgaming, with two games already released in 2020 and at least another two, if not more, promised to be released later on in the year, both of which are set to be linked to existing progressive jackpot prizes (the Mega Moolah progressive and the Wowpot progressive). So while Microgaming comtinue their revamping of their progressive output, it is still good to know that older games, like Major Millions, still have the capacity to break the mould and land players with a massive win from time to time.
