Mega Moolah jackpot slots: What are all the Mega Moolah powered games?
If you are someone that loves progressive jackpot slot gaming, then you cannot have failed to have been made aware of the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot network.
This group of games has expanded, shrunk, and then grown again over the years to include a wide and diverse range of slot games, all of which shared one key feature; the chance to win that massive Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize.
One lucky player this week has just understood what that actually feels like with a jackpot prize of around €14.6 million won on 17 August 2020. That is the fifth jackpot winner of 2020 and it is also the third jackpot winner this year that has claimed a prize of over 10 million, with one other winner also netting a prize of just under that eight-figure amount.
Despite its advancing years, Mega Moolah shows no signs that this famous and Record-Breaking multiple-progressive jackpot slot is slowing down. If anything, its popularity is swelling to even greater heights and with the promise of even more games on the horizon, Mega Moolah looks to have a huge future ahead of it still.
So with that in mind what are and have been the games that you could play for the four different Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prizes? In this article, we are going to take you through all of the different Mega Moolah slot games that have been available, or still are available to play right now, together with a couple of new games that Microgaming have confirmed for release at some point later this year which will add even more choice to this fascinating network of games.
However, to begin to tell the tale of this famous progressive, which has paid a massive part in the €1.2 billion in prize money awarded by the Microgaming Progressive Network over the years.
Mega Moolah
Few slots players would realise just how the release of the Mega Moolah slot a few years ago would change the world of online slot gaming for years to come. The original game, which is still massively popular today, was based on an African Safari theme and had many nice touches and a very sizable cash prize to aim for in the base game of 75,000 coins, which was boosted to 225,000 coins in the Free Spins bonus round.
Now those figures alone would have got many slots fans very excited as to what the game would have to offer, but the truth was Mega Moolah offered much more than that. Microgaming had surprised the world as it announced that Mega Moolah would have not just one, but four different progressive jackpot prizes.
Two of those were the smaller value Mini and Minor Jackpot prizes which tended to award frequent prizes of tens to hundreds of pounds/Euro etc. However, the Major Jackpot was seeded at a value of £10,000, which was a very tasty prize, but it was the Mega Jackpot prize that caused the real stir, when Microgaming announced it would be seeded at a minimum of £1,000,000.
That meant that regardless of when the jackpot was won, there would always be a prize of at least a million available to be won. In short, Mega Moolah was a guaranteed millionaire-maker, if you were fortunate enough to win the progressive jackpot prize.
Another innovation Microgaming came up with for the game was the introduction of a standalone Jackpot Bonus Game. The game would trigger at random, entirely independent of what happened on the reels and players would spin a reel that would guarantee a win of one of the four progressive jackpot prizes.
It was this innovation, combined with the absolutely playability of the base game that has made Mega Moolah a slot for the ages and one of the truly great online slot games of all time and its success has seen it spawn a number of other games all tied to its progressive jackpot network.
Mega Moolah Summertime, Isis and 5-Reel Drive
Around three years after the release of the first Mega Moolah slot, Microgaming decided to bolster the selection of games you could play for the progressive jackpot prizes. Three new games were added to the fold, although 'new' games is perhaps a little misleading.
That is because the three games released, Mega Moolah Summertime, Mega Moolah 5-Reel Drive and then in November Mega Moolah Isis, were all originally standard slot games. However, Microgaming repurposed the original games, tweaked them and then attached the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot game to them.
While each of these three games was largely similar, each was a 5x3 reel slot which offered a relatively small standard game jackpot prize, there were differences between them. Summertime had nine pay lines in play, 5 reel drive had 15 and Isis had the most with 25.
While never as popular as the original Mega Moolah, you can still find these games to play at many casinos today. However, it is worth noting that of the three games, only one of them has been confirmed as landing a top jackpot prize. In fact, the 5-Reel Drive slot for Mega Moolah has been responsible for at least two jackpot winners over the years, a €1,391,166.54 and a CA$1,013,801.05 win.
Mega Moolah Lord of the Rings & The Dark Knight
It is often forgotten that for a short time at least, there were a couple of film tie-in Mega Moolah slot games you could enjoy, although both have now been discontinued due to their license expiring.
The first game was the 243 Ways to Win Lord of the Rings slot, which was based on the Peter Jackson film and which offered the first opportunity to play a 243 Ways to Win slot for the Mega Moolah jackpot prize.
However, that slot was retired after a relatively short time and replaced by The Dark Knight slot, based on the Christopher Nolan Batman series film of the same name. This slot became famous as being the one that John Orchard from Lincolnshire in the UK, landed a big prize on in October 2012, of over £5.88 million.
Both the Dark Knight and Lord of the Rings were similar games, set up in a similar way but with obviously different subject matter. Neither slot lasted a great deal of time however as licensing issues meant that they had to be discontinued and it would then be a good few years before the next Mega Moolah game would arrive to follow them.
And when it did, you would have to be a member of a particular casino group in order to enjoy it.
Mega Vault Millionaire - Casino Rewards exclusive
It was in 2019 that the next big development on the Mega Moolah network arrived. By this time, the progressive jackpot game had gone truly global and had been responsible for a confirmed Guinness World Record for the highest jackpot ever awarded on an online progressive jackpot game and had also paid out a number of 10 million plus and even one CA$20 million plus prizes.
To capitalise on this interest, Microgaming then released the Mega Vault Millionaire slot game with one little twist, you could only play this slot at casinos part of Casino Rewards, one of Microgaming's longest serving casino partners.
This new game was very like the original Mega Moolah in many ways with 25 pay lines in play, 15 Free Spins and a very similar Jackpot Bonus game. However, this time around the game was based on a Bank Vault setting, rather than the African Savannah.
This game did offer one significant difference to the original however, the Jackpot Bonus Game is played through a series of Bank Vault Wheels. Which you spin in order to unlock either the Mini, Minor, Major or Mega jackpots. Manage to get to the third Vault and you are guaranteed to win either the Major or Mega jackpot prize. Of course, if you weren't a customer of any Casino Rewards casino, this left you out a little when it came to the new Mega Moolah slot, but those customers did not have to wait very long for their own chance to play a brand new game, or in fact two as in February 2020, they would be seeing double.
Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah
After a short release in a small number of Casino Rewards casinos, Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah was released in early February 2020. This was a brand-new way to play for the Mega Moolah slot, offering spins from just 0.10p per spin and no Free Spins bonus game included on the slot.
Instead, the game used the increasingly popular style of 5x3 reels, 10 pay lines, win both ways across the reels format for the basis of the game. Alongside that, there are also Expanding Wild symbols that can appear on the middle reels and trigger a free respin when landed. Land more than one and you can trigger up to three Free Respins and land successive cash prizes.
With just a 0.10p minimum bet a new way to calculate your chances of landing a shot at the Jackpot Bonus Wheel was needed and in Atlantean Treasures, players collect gold pearls on the reels. Each time you collect one, it is added to the treasure you collected in the giant clam and each pearl gives you a chance of triggering the jackpot bonus game.
One lucky player has already achieved this to land the Mega Moolah top jackpot prize in May 2020 worth NZ$13.6 million just a few months after the game was released across casinos. And Atlantean Treasures was not the only Mega Moolah-linked slot to be released in February 2020.
Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah
Just a couple of weeks after the release of Atlantean Treasures, the newest Mega Moolah slot arrived in casinos. This was Absolootly Mad, a game featuring 243 Ways to Win, Rolling Reels with Multiplier Trails, Free Spins and all based on the famous Mad Hatter's Tea Party from the story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
Once again, this new slot offered something different for customers. 243 Ways to Win was back for the first times since the departed film tie in Mega Moolah games, but there were firsts for Rolling Reels and Multiplier Trails in the game.
Spins cost just 0.20p to play and once again, players had to collect Wild Coins to give themselves a chance of the progressive jackpot prize. One nice touch is that these Wild coins can be used alongside Scatter symbols to trigger the game's Free Spins bonus round.
It seemed that Absolootly Mad would be the last Mega Moolah slot for a while if what happened in the past was anything to go by. But that assumption would be proved wrong a short time later with the announcement of at least two more games set to join the network in 2020.
New Mega Moolah slots on the Horizon
The release of the three new Mega Moolah games over 2019 and 2020 has certainly injected a whole new level of interest in the Mega Moolah jackpot, so much so that Microgaming have slated at least two more games to join the network some time soon.
Fortunium Gold Mega Moolah
Victoria and Maximilian are back after their successful introduction in the original Fortunium slot back in 2018 and they are now part of a slot that will offer you a shot at the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prize when it is released.
The Fortunium Gold slot is a 5x5 reel game that features plenty of stacked symbols on the reels. Spins start at 0.10 per spin, but if you activate the Win Booster feature, you can ensure that Mystery Symbols, when landed, will be gold and only transform into the higher value symbols or Wilds. This will cost you 2x your standard bet to have activated.
There is also a Free Spins bonus round which sees a number of mystery reels in play on your 10 free spins. If you manage to change one of the Mystery Symbols into a Jackpot Wild symbol, then you will head over to the Jackpot Bonus Game for a chance to spin the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot wheel and a chance to win one of the four progressive jackpot prizes.
We believe that Fortunium Gold Mega Moolah will be released some time in September 2020.
Juicy Joker Mega Moolah
Details about the new Juicy Joker Mega Moolah slot are a little difficult to come by, but while we don't know a great amount of detail about this new slot, we do know that it will be allied to the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot network and that it will be a 5x3 reel slot.
We also expect a release date of sometime in mid-September for this slot, when many more details about the game will be revealed and we will of course, bring you our review and extensive play-through of both this game and the other new Mega Moolah slot Fortunium Gold.
As you can see, the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot network is going from strength to strength and with several big money winners already in 2020, with at least two new games coming out very shortly, we expect to see another couple of lucky big winners of one of the most rewarding online progressive jackpot games in history to be crowned over the remainder of the year.
Just remember, to win it, you have to spin it!
