Mega Vault Millionaire's progressive jackpots & jackpot bonus game explained
Without doubt one of the most exciting aspects of the Mega Moolah powered Mega Vault Millionaire slot is the prospect of triggering the Jackpot Bonus game. This is the part of the slot where you can win that massive Mega Jackpot, which at the time of writing is reaching 9.5 million and is still rising!
In this next in the series of articles about the Mega Vault Millionaire slot and its different constituent parts, we are going to focus solely on the progressive jackpot element of the game, including how you trigger the Jackpot Bonus Game, how this game differs from any of the other Jackpot Bonus Games you can play on the other slots in the Mega Moolah network, and lastly, the dynamics behind the triggering of a jackpot and how this is linked to your bet size in the base game.
It is easy to assume that everyone knows plenty about progressive jackpots and in particular the Mega Vault Millionaire game, but we are going to assume that you are a relative newcomer to online slots and explain exactly what a progressive jackpot is first, before we move onto the specifics for the Mega Vault Millionaire slot.
What is a progressive jackpot?
On a standard slot game, players spin the reels and when they hit certain combinations of the same symbol in positions across the reels, then they win a cash prize. The more symbols in that combination and the higher the value of the symbol within that game, then the greater the prize is. This is how slots have worked since pretty much the first game, Liberty Bell, was invented at the turn of the 20th century.
However, a progressive jackpot slot works in a slightly different way. It still has the same type of symbol combination wins outlined above, but on a progressive jackpot game, a small percentage of your wager is not put into the main game fund to pay out standard wins. Instead, it is paid into a separate progressive jackpot fund (or in the case of the Mega Moolah progressive network, four different progressive jackpot funds).
Over time, this progressive fund will increase until it is won by whatever means is designed into the game. This may be a combination of symbols, or it may be something entirely different.
The exciting thing about progressive jackpot prizes is that they are often worth far more than the top jackpot prize in the standard slot game. In the biggest games, these prizes can be worth hundreds of thousands and even millions.
Of course, because these progressive jackpot prizes can be so expansive, they are not won as often but the time between wins allows the jackpots to grow in size. In effect, they progress from smaller amounts to larger amounts and hence the name, progressive jackpots.
Mega Vault Millionaire's progressive jackpots
In terms of the Mega Vault Millionaire slot, this slot is part of the Mega Moolah network of games, which includes the original Mega Moolah, as well as new games Atlantean Treasures and Absolootly Mad. The Mega Moolah progressive jackpot is split into four separate jackpot prizes.
To ensure that each jackpot, when won in full, always has an amount to be won, each prize has a seed amount in British Pounds, which is guaranteed to be available to be won in the game as a bare minimum. These are:
- The Mini Jackpot - seeded at 10
- The Minor Jackpot - seeded at 100
- The Major Jackpot - seeded at 10,000
- The Mega Jackpot - seeded at 1,000,000
Each spin you or any other player plays on the Mega Vault Millionaire slot has a built-in contribution to these prize pools and enables them to grow far beyond the stated seed amounts above. Indeed, it is rare for the Major and Mega jackpots in particular to ever reset to the seed amount (this only occurs when either jackpot is won using the base currency of the game, British Pounds).
This means that you can see the top two prizes in particular grow well above their seed amounts. The largest ever Mega Jackpot prize (numerically) was over CA$20 million, while the Major jackpot prize can increase beyond 100,000.
Furthermore, the popularity of the Mega Moolah progressive slots like Mega Vault Millionaire, means that these progressive jackpots can rise very quickly indeed as a large number of slots players play them regularly.
So now we know about the four jackpot prizes you can win in Mega Vault Millionaire. Let's now discover how you can win them.
How do I win the Mega Vault Millionaire progressive prizes?
The first thing to note is that the Mega Vault Millionaire Jackpot Bonus Game is only triggered at random in the base game. The bonus is not triggered by landing a certain combination of symbols on the reels, or after a certain number of spins has been played, or after you have spent a certain amount of money on the slot.
There are only two things that affect your chances of triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game on Mega Vault Millionaire (or indeed any Mega Moolah-linked slot).
- The number of spins you play - The more spins you play, the more chances you have of triggering the bonus.
- The amount you bet on each spin - The more you bet on each spin, the more your chances of triggering the bonus game increase in proportion.
However, increasing your chances by playing more spins, or betting more on each spin, or both, does not guarantee you a trigger of the Jackpot Bonus Game. It can take a long time, as I am finding out in trying to capture it on video, for you to trigger the Jackpot Bonus Game.
It can take hundreds, thousands of even tens of thousands of spins before you trigger a Jackpot Bonus Game on Mega Vault Millionaire. You may even never trigger one. On the other hand, because it is entirely random, you could trigger it on your next minimum bet spin.
Once you do, you then stand a chance of winning one of the four progressive jackpot prizes. You will win one of them, although this is most likely to be the Mini or Minor jackpot prizes.
Mega Vault Millionaire jackpot bonus game
The way in which the progressive jackpot you win is decided on the Mega Vault Millionaire slot is different to how it is decided on other Mega Moolah-linked games. On those games, you spin just one wheel which has different coloured sectors, to decide which of the four progressive jackpot prizes you will win.
In Mega Vault Millionaire, there is more a bank vault-type design to the bonus game to fit in with the theme of the game. So in this bonus game, you can spin up to three different wheels to claim your prize.
- First Wheel - The first wheel offers you a chance to win the Mini jackpot prize or the chance to move on and spin the second wheel by landing on a Key segment. Win the Mini jackpot and your bonus game ends. Land on the Key segment and you move onto the second wheel.
- Second Wheel - This wheel offers you a chance to win in the Minor jackpot prize or you can land on the key segment to move onto the third wheel. Again, land on the jackpot here and that is the prize you win and the bonus round ends. If you land on the Key a second time, you move onto the third and final wheel.
- Third Wheel - This is the most exciting part of the Mega Vault Millionaire slot, as if you reach this wheel, you are guaranteed a big win. There are two coloured sectors on the reel, one which will see you win the Major jackpot prize and smaller sectors which will see you win the Mega jackpot prize. Spin the wheel and whatever sector the pointer lands on, will be the progressive jackpot prize you win.
It is strange to think that one spin on the Jackpot Bonus Game could be the key to a win of millions, but that is all part of the charm and appeal of progressive jackpot slot gaming and it is what makes the Mega Moolah linked slots like Mega Vault Millionaire so appealing to players all over the world.
