Microgaming pays out €89 million in progressive slot winnings so far in 2019

We are already well aware that the famous Mega Moolah slot has had another good year in terms of jackpots being won. The most recent winner of the jackpot prize landed a £3,033,563.60 prize back on the 17th June 2019 and that win was the sixth win of the year so far.

When you look at the Mega Jackpots won on the slot this year, we started off the year with the largest numerical value win in Mega Moolah's history with over $20 million won by a player using Canadian Dollars and this was followed by another big value win of just short of $13 million US Dollars. We then had two Canadian Dollar wins of CA$3.3 million and CA$8.1 million respectively before the last two wins, both in British Pounds of £5.5m and £3.03 million.

What this means is that in numeric terms, Microgaming's progressive jackpot slot has paid out over 53 million in different currencies this year to the six lucky jackpot winners and that makes up a significant chunk of the total amount paid out by Microgaming paid out across all their progressive jackpot games and slots up until the end of June 2019.

Last week Microgaming reported in a specially created infographic that across all their different progressive jackpot games, which includes games such as Major Millions, King Cashalot, Treasure Nile and Cash Splash to name but four, the company had paid out a total of €89,879,343 in progressive jackpot wins up until the end of June.

In that same time, across all the different slots (not solely including Mega Moolah), the company had created a total of eight millionaires, who had won a total of around €43 million, which is just under half of the total amount awarded by the company in jackpot prizes so far this year.

When it comes to smaller jackpots, Microgaming have also awarded a total of 380 jackpot prizes of €10,000 or greater over that same period, which averages out at around two prizes of that magnitude each day.

Furthermore, their largest winner in this period was of course the Canadian Dollar winner of CA$20 million plus, which when translated into a Euro value, saw Microgaming pay up to the tune of €13,328,028.16 for that win.

Add up every jackpot trigger across every one of the Microgaming progressives since the game began and as of June 30th 2019, a total of 1,150,559 independent jackpot triggers of Microgaming progressive jackpot games have been recorded, paying out over €1 billion in prize money to players over that period.

Commenting on the release of the information, the Chief Executive Officer of Microgaming John Coleman stated "2019 is gearing up to be a great year for Microgaming's progressive jackpot network, with total lifetime payouts fast approaching the €1.1 billion mark."

He said that the company was expecting to be "hosting more life-changing wins in the second half of the year," and he also congratulated those players that had been fortunate enough to land a life-changing win while playing Microgaming slots.

Are we going to see more Microgaming Jackpot winners in the second half of 2019 and beyond?

With an average of one big Mega Moolah winner a month so far throughout 2019, the year is on course to be the year with the second highest number of Mega Moolah triggers on record, after the 13 wins landed in 2017. However, it seems likely that we are going to see plenty more Microgaming jackpot winners in the second half of 2019, as well as beyond, ostensibly because of the company's current business model.

Over the last couple of years, Microgaming has decided to expand its operations considerably in a number of ways. This has included developing partnerships with other software development studios to produce games exclusively for Microgaming, and this has seen an increase in new slot releases and some top class new games available for customers to enjoy, such as Fortunium, Agent Jane Blonde Returns, Village People Macho Moves and Rockabilly Wolves.

However, in conjunction with this move, Microgaming has also been expanding the range where its slots can be played, and they have done so in a number of different ways. Firstly, the company has agreed deals with additional casinos in areas where its games are already available to bring Microgaming slots and progressives to a wider range of customers in these areas, a good example of this being the company announcing its recent deal with the likes of Mansion and BGO games.

Additionally, the company has also been hard securing new licenses to work in countries where, up until that time as they licence was awarded, Microgaming did not have a presence. Already in the past few years, Microgaming has obtained licenses for a number of new regions, opening up their games to millions of more customers in the likes of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Colombia to name but three.

That is in addition to the company working with IWG to convert a number of top Microgaming slot games into Instant Win games that will be offered as additional options for players to play alongside the more traditional slots.

The net effect of this expansion has been that far more players around the globe will now have access to play games Microgaming offer, including all the games contained within their progressive jackpot network.

Now while you cannot predict how often and what size a progressive jackpot win of the future will be, what is true is that the more people play a slot and the more spins that are played on it, then the more likely there will be more jackpot wins in the future. It seems likely therefore, that with millions of more people now able to access Microgaming slot games and progressives at additional casinos and in additional countries around the world, then over the next few years, we should see an increasing number of big jackpot prizes awarded.

And for fans of progressive jackpot slots, it is also worth remembering that more spins played on games like Mega Moolah also means that the size of the jackpot will increase more rapidly too.

So, while the first half of 2019 was an incredible one for Microgaming customers, the likelihood is that over the coming years, figures such as those reported for January 1 to June 30 will likely become the norm and could even be surpassed given the additional amount of players that can now play the full range of Microgaming slots.

And that is an exciting thought for any Mega Moolah fan. Sign up today to one of these great deals!
