NZ$3 million jackpot won on Mega Moolah on 19th of September 2020
One lucky slots player celebrated a day to remember on Saturday 19th September 2020 as little did they know when they began their session playing one of the fantastic games on the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot network, that they would soon become the seventh million-plus winner of the Mega jackpot prize in 2020!
Of course, in these early stages of the process, the casino will be working with Microgaming to confirm the win is genuine and to then speak with the player to decide whether they want to remain anonymous (as the vast majority of winners do) and also to help them receive their cash prize!
This latest lucky winner landed their prize just under a couple of weeks after the last winner of the jackpot prize, who landed a prize of just over 4 million back on the 6th September. This latest winner took home a prize of 3,075,080.56 and early indications are that the player landed their prize in New Zealand Dollars.
So, if this latest win is confirmed as another win for a player using New Zealand Dollars, what will that mean?
New Zealand Dollar wins
This latest win will be, when confirmed, the seventh time that a player has been confirmed as a winner using New Zealand dollars as their base currency. It would be one of the lower value wins, in fact it is the third lowest win in this currency with just two wins of just over a million and one of almost 1.6 million below it.
If confirmed, this seventh jackpot win from New Zealand would mean that the total paid out in this currency has risen to just under NZ$3,500 short of NZ$43 million has been paid out to the seven winners, an average of around NZ$6.11 million being paid out to each winner.
It also means that in terms of cumulative totals, the New Zealand Dollar jumps above the total amount won in British Pounds in the lifetime list of wins as the British Pound has paid out £39.973 million in winnings. This means that NZ Dollars is behind only the Euro (€69.6 million) and Canadian Dollar (CA$153.139 million) in terms of the amount paid out by currencies.
- Currency list total wins paid (amount)
- Canadian Dollars - CA$153,159,171
- Euro - €69,600,779
- NZ Dollars - NZ$42,796,542
- British Pounds - £39,973,589
- US Dollars - US$32,023,085
However, this isn't really a fair comparison as exchange rates mean that currencies are worth more than the other, so if we converted these cumulative amounts into the base currency for the Mega Moolah slot, how would the New Zealand Dollar (one of the weaker currencies in circulation on the game) perform?
- Currency list total wins paid (converted amount)
- Canadian Dollars - £89,793,183
- Euro - £63,798,367
- British Pounds - £39,973,589
- New Zealand Dollars - £25,090,763
- US Dollars - £24,792,834
What is interesting though is while the New Zealand Dollar wins have now moved into third in terms of the amount paid out to players in their respective currencies and fourth on the list when it comes to the converted amount won across each currency, the NZ Dollar however still remains fifth on the list when it comes to the total number of winners in each currency.
- Currency wins (total number of winners)
- Canadian Dollar - 22
- Euro - 15
- British Pound - 9
- US Dollar - 8
- New Zealand Dollar - 7
Now the final step here to see which currency tends to win the most on the Mega Moolah slot is to divide the amount won in the converted cash by the number of winners in each currency to get the average win in British Pounds for players using the different currencies and this makes very interesting reading.
- Average amount won (in British Pounds) in each currency
- British Pound - £4,441,510
- Euro - £4,253,225
- Canadian Dollars - £4,081,508
- NZ Dollars - £3,584,395
- US Dollars - £3,099,104
Here you can see that in terms of converted amount won, the British Pound winners on average do a little better than Euro winners who in turn do a little better than Canadian Dollar winners, while the NZ Dollar winners come a more distant fourth, but well ahead of both the US Dollar.
2020 and September winners
This latest jackpot win on the 19th September was the seventh jackpot won in 2020 so far, that ties the amount won in 2018, which has been the third most successful year for landing jackpot prizes in the history of Mega Moolah. Only the 12 winners in 2019 and the 13 winners in 2017 have now seen more winners than 2020 and we still have three full months, plus the remaining days in September to trigger more winners!
This means that in the period from 2007 to 2016, ten years, there were 28 Mega Moolah Mega Jackpot winners, but in the four years from 2017 to 2020, we have had an incredible 39 jackpot winners so far. That is 11 more in less than half the time. Which goes to show just how popular Mega Moolah has become over the years.
The latest jackpot win is also the seventh time the jackpot has been won in September, the second time it has been won in September 2020 and it is the first time the jackpot has been won on the 19th of the month. Previous wins in September have come at the start of the month (one win on the 5th, two on the 6th) or end of the month (wins on the 25th, 28th and 30th).
This latest winner means that Mega Moolah has paid out over 65 million in different currencies across the year.
A first for the latest winner!
What was interesting and unique for this latest Mega Jackpot winner was that their win at 10.00am UTC was the very first time that the jackpot had been won in the period between 10.00 and 11.00. This was the only hour slot during the day that had not previously seen a Mega Moolah winner! It now joins the periods of midnight to 1am and 3am to 4am as having a single Mega jackpot winner land their prize at this time.
At the moment, we do not yet have confirmation regarding which game the jackpot was won on, or at which casino the lucky player landed their prize, however if we do discover these details we will bring them to you at a later date.
So once again, the most popular progressive jackpot slot in online history has provided one lucky player with a win of a lifetime. The jackpot has reset now to just over 1.5 million and is already climbing once again. Who will be the next lucky winner to land the jackpot prize and when will it land?
