Strike silver in the latest Silver Lioness 4x slot: Available now!

Lightning Box have produced some solid games in recent times in conjunction with Microgaming and their latest offering is the rather eye-catching Silver Lioness 4x slot.

Don't be fooled by the relatively small 250-coin jackpot top prize, you could land a multiplier of up to 36x that amount to vastly increase the size of the win.

What you have here is a 5 reel slot which has four symbols on each reel instead of the standard three. Other good news is that this is a 1024 ways to win slot, meaning symbols can be in any position across the reels to trigger a win. Spins also start from just 0.40 per game, although higher rollers can ramp up the action to a maximum of 200 per spin if they so desire.

Other than that the slot is relatively straightforward as it has a Free Spins round and perhaps the most exciting part of the slot is the Wild Cubs symbols, which appear on the reels during Free Spins and which offer 2x, 3x and 4x multipliers (which can be combined for bigger wins).

Let's now take a closer look at how the Silver Lioness 4x slot shapes up.

The presentation of the Silver Lioness 4x slot is nicely done. There's no musical accompaniment as such while you play, just sound effects taken from the Wild that includes animal noises and birdsong. It's rather nicely done and does add to the atmospheric look of the game.

The backdrop of the slots is a grassy African plain and above is a purple and yellow sky. The reels are in the centre of the screen with the main controls for them at the foot of the reels, it's all very simple to follow and looks very nice, especially on higher quality screens and devices.

What is on the reels?

There are not that many symbols on the reels which is unusual for a 5x4 slot. The lower value symbols are the six different playing card symbols, the 9 and 10 are the lowest value paying out from 5 coins to 100 coins, while the Ace and King pay out 10 coins up to 130 coins depending on whether you land three, four or five across the reels.

There are four higher value symbols on the reels and these are the different creatures that share the same habitats as the Silver Lioness. These symbols also offer small pays for just two symbols on a line. The Meerkats and the Zebra's are the lower two of the four symbols offering pays of between 10 coins to 140 coins, while the hippo and the African lady offer pays of between 20 coins up to 200 coins.

The highest value symbol however is the Silver Lioness herself who pays out from 2 coins landed on the reels and offers wins of between 50 coins and 250 coins depending on whether you land two, three, four or five across the reels.

There are two other symbols on the reels, the Scatter symbol and the Wild and we will explore more what these symbols do in the section below.

Wild features

The Tree is the Wild symbol in the base game and it operates as a standard Wild, replacing the standard symbols to help create winning pay lines. It does only appear on the middle three reels in the base game however and there is no multiplier attached to any of the winnings which is a little disappointing.

However, Wilds do change when you hit the Free Spins bonus round as you will discover in the section below.

Free Spins features

The blue gem is the Scatter symbol and it awards you a small cash prize when you land three or more across the reels, but when you land three, four or five of these symbols you also trigger 8, 15 or 20 Free Spins respectively.

During Free Spins things change slightly on the reels. Firstly, the Silver Lioness symbol changes from a night time picture to a day time one (although there's no change in the amount that this symbols pays out).

More importantly, the Tree Wild is replaced instead by three different Wilds which are placed in sequences across each of the middle three reels. The second, third and fourth reels have the Cubs 2x Wild which has 2 cubs and offers a 2x multiplier on all wins it is part of. The third and fourth reels also have the Cubs 3x Wild which offers a 3x multiplier and the second reel also has four cubs on the Wild symbol and offers a 4x multiplier on wins it is used in.

The good news is that if you land multiple of these Wilds across the reels during Free Spins then their multipliers are cumulative (so if you land a 4x Wild and a 2x Wild on a win, that will result in an 8x multiplier). It is possible to therefore trigger a 36x multiplier win during the Free Spins round.

Furthermore, if you land three or more Scatters across the reels during Free Spins, you'll retrigger another set of Free Spins based on how many Scatters you land.

Best feature of the Silver Lioness 4x slot

Without doubt, the best feature of the Silver Lioness 4x slot is the Free Spins bonus round, but I also have to point out that hitting the bonus can take a good deal of time and patience. However, it can be very much worth the wait as some of the pay-outs you can land in this section of the game can be huge. The base game is good fun to play and offers decent mid-to-high level variance compared to most other slots, with a nice mix of lower value and higher value wins.

The Silver Lioness 4x slot is a nice follow up to the Silver Lion slot of a few years back with some tidy added features and nice presentation. If you enjoy games based in the wilderness or on wild animals then this will undoubtedly prove to be a real hit.
