Titans of the Sun Theia slot: Does it offer more than Hyperion?

We recently reviewed the brother slot of this game, Titans of the Sun Hyperion and essentially what you have here is the same slot, with just a different character in the title and a few small tweaks to the game play.

So, if you enjoy the Hyperion version of this game, then you are going to like the Theia version and vice versa.

The slots are set up in the same way, 5x3 reels, higher variance, 15 pay lines and a Free Spins bonus game, plus a Mystery Symbol on the reels. However, the Theia slot probably is a little higher variance than the other game, offering slightly larger jackpot prizes but I also feel it is probably the tougher to win money on more consistently.

So does this slot shape up well compared to its sibling? Let's take a closer look and find out.

Presentation

The presentation of the Titans of the Sun Theia slot is exactly the same as that you would see on the Hyperion version of the game. You have the same Greek Mediterranean scene displated on the reels with a beautiful blue sky above azure waters and marble buildings on each side of the screen.

The reels are see-through so you can enjoy more of this sunny scene and the graphics on the slot are very nicely done. The sound though is a little disappointing with just generic slot noises in the main as the backdrop which doesn't really help create the right atmosphere in the game based on what is being depicted on the screen.

Sounds do improve when you land a win, but they are somewhat sparse and I do feel let the slot down a little.

What is on the reels?

Essentially, you will find the exact same symbols on the reels in the Titans of the Sun Theia slot as you would the Hyperion version, apart from one key difference. The lower value symbols are the same playing card low symbols that offer a range of pays from 1/3 of your total bet up to 6.3x your total bet.

There are also three higher value symbols, the same phoenix and horse symbols are on the reels as the Hyperion slot but the highest value standard symbol is Theia, rather than Hyperion. These higher value symbols tend to offer better value wins with three or more of these symbols always offering a chance of a payout bigger than your total bet value.

The other symbol to note on the reels is the Mystery Symbol. This symbol can be stacked on the reels and it can land in multiple positions on the reel. When it lands, it will change into one of the standard symbols in the game in the base game. During Free Spins, it can also turn into a Wild symbol, which is where the biggest value wins in the slot tend to come from.

Be warned though, sometimes the Mystery symbol can be a real help to landing a win, but the symbol it reverts to is selected at random and sometimes, it can be a pretty effective blocker of a potential win if you land the wrong symbol on a spin.

Wild features

The Wild symbol in the game is the Titans of the Sun logo and it appears on every reel. It can substitute for all the standard symbols in the game and when it does, it can lead to some of the better value wins in the base game, especially when you can land multiple Wilds on a single spin.

However, it is when you land these multiple Wilds together across a pay line that they really can pay some top prizes, with five of the Wilds across a pay line offering the largest prize in the base game of around 133x your total bet.

The Wild symbol cannot substitute for the Scatter symbol in the game.

Free Spins features

The main Free Spins bonus of the Titans of the Sun Theia slot is accessed when you land three of the Scatter symbols on the reels. This symbol depicts Theia and Hyperion, who is the subject of the other Titans of the Sun slot, being lofted into the air.

Any time you land two or more of these symbols you win a cash prize ranging from 1x your total bet up to 100x your total bet if you land all five across the reels. Land three or more of these symbols and you also trigger the Free Spins bonus round.

In your Free Spins bonus game, you receive 15 Free Spins regardless of how many Scatters you landed to trigger the bonus. All of the wins you land in Free Spins come with a 2x multiplier as standard, which is a positive and the good news is that landing three or more Scatters during Free Spins will retrigger the bonus too.

Best of all though, the Mystery Symbol can turn into a Wild symbol too during Free Spins, which offers the potential for some massive value wins if you can land multiple of them stacked on the reels during the bonus round.

Best feature of the Titans of the Sun Theia slot

The Titans of the Sun Theia slot is essentially pretty much the same game as the Hyperion slot, just with a few slight tweaks to the payout amounts in the game. Mechanically and in terms of looks and content, the slots are essentially identical apart from a couple of minor tweaks (such as Theia being the highest standard symbol, rather than Hyperion). Given that, it stands to reason that the same features that make the Hyperion slot so enjoyable, the Free Spins bonus and the Mystery Symbol feature, are also the things that make the Theia version of the game equally enjoyable too.

Conclusion

It's impossible to look at the two different Titans of the Sun slots and see them as essentially the same game just with a few minor tweaks. For me, Theia is the slightly more volatile of the two, she doesn't pay out quite as much in the base game, but the size of the possible big money wins in her slot are better and I think as such, she would be the pick for players that enjoy chasing the larger jackpots. In truth, either game is a very nicely polished and presented slot that has oodles of character and plenty to enjoy.
