Treasure Heroes slot is Rabcat's latest release that is now available to play

Rabcat have produced some fantastic slots in recent times and they have just released their latest offering, the eagerly awaited Treasure Heroes slot, which we previewed just a few days ago.

Always a company that thrives on its innovative slots, Rabcat have once again produced a game that is very different to their competitors, as this slot is played on a 5x5 reel set and features a brand new feature called Moving Walls, which is triggered after every winning spin and which can then go on to produce further wins for the player.

Add to that the usual Wilds and Free Spins bonuses and you have a game that sounds intriguing, but does it have the usual Rabcat stamp of quality all over it? We decided to don some armour, grab a sword and shield and venture forth into this adventure-styled slot to find out for ourselves.

Presentation

The first thing to note is that the Treasure Heroes slot is not a typical slot game. There are five reels which spin initially but after that things get a little more unusual. There are, for example, no pay lines in play. Instead, players are awarded wins for clusters of six or more of the same symbol (or Wilds) connected horizontally or vertically. The more symbols in a cluster, the greater the value of the win for that symbol.

Furthermore, once you have triggered a cluster pay win, then the next unusual feature of the slot kicks in. This is the Moving Wall feature which will see the symbols on the reels move horizontally and vertically after a win. This can result in the triggering of other big value wins, or it can simply end that spin if no winners are produced.

Graphically, the game is typically Rabcat and by that I mean, it is sumptuously produced. The musical accompaniment is perfect for the castle setting of the slot and the top-down view of the reels and little touches like the flickering candles just give an added layer of quality to the game. It's a medium variance slot that has a 5x5 reel set but which has outstanding production values.

What is on the reels?

There are just six standard symbols on the reels in the base game of the Treasure Heroes slot. They are, in order of value, a gemstone next to a gnarled tree, a shield with a dragon on it, a lantern, the male Treasure Hero, the female Treasure Hero and lastly the Treasure Chest. Wins range from around a quarter of your total bet size, up to 1,000x your total bet size.

Cluster pays start at collections of six of each of the types of symbol and you can win a prize increasing in value up to 25 symbols, which is all the symbols visible on the reels. There are two other symbols that can appear on the reel and these are related to the main bonus features in the game, the Wild symbol and the Scatter symbol.

Wild features

In the base game, the Wild symbol is coloured blue and it acts solely as a substitute symbol for the standard six symbols in the game. It can also be moved around on the reels when the Moving Walls feature kicks in at the end of a winning spin. Obviously, the more Wilds landed on the reels in any given spin then the better your chances are of triggering a win.

Free Spins features

The first of the Free Spins features is called the Moving Wall feature and this triggers after every winning spin in the game. When you land a win of a cluster of six or more symbols, then you will receive that pay out and then the 'walls' of the slot will move. There is a degree of randomness about how the reels move, but essentially they move in the following way.

Initially, for the vertical movement part of the bonus, the first and fifth reels will move either up or down by two spaces. The third reel will move in the opposite direction to the other two reels, also by two spaces.

Then you enter the horizontal movement phase, in this phase, the first and fifth rows will move either left or right by two spaces, with the third row of symbols moving in the opposite direction also by two spaces.

The effect of this is to mix up the symbols on the reel and then this can trigger additional wins. If it does, then the Moving Walls bonus is repeated until no more wins are achieved.

The second Free Spins bonus is the Treasure Chamber Free Spins and this is triggered when you land the two Scatter symbols on the rels together. There are two Scatters, each being half of a key, which when combined unlock the door to the Free Spins bonus, which is a nice way to trigger the feature.

This bonus is played on the same 5x5 grid with the same symbols as the base game, but during your Free Spins, any of the two humanoid symbols, who are the magician and the warrior, that land on the reels can be transformed at random into Fixed Wilds.

Unlike standard Wilds, Fixed Wilds will not be affected by the Moving Walls bonus and will instead remain fixed in place on the reels for the duration of the bonus round. Other than that, it operates in much of the same way as the standard Wild, acting solely as a substitute for standard symbols in wins.

Best feature of the Treasure Heroes slot

There are plenty of great features on the Treasure Heroes slot so narrowing it down to pick the best is a tough call. The Wild is so useful in the base game and the Free Spins bonus, with those Sticky Wilds, is a nice touch, but for sheer innovation and inventiveness, I think the Moving Walls feature is a fantastic way to offer what essentially amounts to a re-spin of the reels, but in a way that is very different to your typical slot. I love the way Rabcat add innovation to their games in this way and this is another sure fire winner.

Conclusion

Rabcat have produced a consistently very high standard for games for some time now and the Treasure Heroes slot is no different. It is a markedly different game to your typical 5x3 reel slot, but it is all the better for it. The Free Spins and Wild bonuses are pretty standard, but used in this way they are effective but the real crown jewel is the Moving Walls feature which adds a whole new depth to the game. This is yet another outstanding slot from Rabcat and one you should not miss out on trying for yourself.

You can play the Treasure Heroes slot at any of the Mega Moolah casinos.
