Treble Mega Moolah May payouts mean Wheel of Wishes now jackpot king

After a quiet start to 2020, the Mega Moolah slot has suddenly found its feet once again. After a big payout of over 16.4 million in April 2020, May has seen an incredible trio of winners for 13.6m, 9.9m and 4.4m all landed across the month, paying out around 28 million in prize money, the most in a single month in the game's history when it comes to the top progressive prize.

However, that generosity with wins has come at a cost to the size of the jackpot prize, which has dropped down from a high-point of over 16 million early in the month, to just under 1.9 million when the third jackpot in May 2020 was won (the jackpot has now passed the 1.9 million mark since).

What that means is that, for the time being at least, Mega Moolah has lost its position at the top of the list of slot games from Microgaming that offer the largest amount of money in terms of a progressive prize. At the moment, the 3.78 million (and climbing) that is available to be won on the Wheel of Wishes slot is now the new king of the list.

Month of firsts

May 2020 has certainly been a month of firsts in the Microgaming Progressive Jackpot Network. We have seen the first ever winner of the Mega Moolah top jackpot prize on the new Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah slot earlier in the month. We are still waiting for confirmation on which games and which casinos the last two winners of the top jackpot prizes (claimed on the 24th and 27th May) were landed on or at.

It may well be that one of those wins was a first win on either the Casino Rewards exclusive Mega Vault Millionaire or the new Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah slot. We won't know for sure until Microgaming release more details about both wins, which should be forthcoming in a couple of weeks or so.

What is for sure is that alongside June 2014, May 2020 is the only other month that has seen three Mega Moolah Jackpot wins claimed. It is also the 11th win in the month of May since the game began, which is by far and away the most popular month for wins (ahead of June, which has seen nine wins in total).

However, it is also the first time for a good while that the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot top prize has dropped down to a relatively small amount (not that almost two million is small, but compared to the jackpot prizes in recent times, it has been). This means that for the first time since it was released, Wheel of Wishes is now the Microgaming progressive offering the highest value progressive jackpot prize.

Wheel of Wishes set to shine?

After a widespread release back at the end of 2019, Wheel of Wishes has seen its jackpot increase somewhat steadily rather than spectacularly over that time. So far, nobody has claimed the top prize on the slot, the Wowpot, which now stands at just short of 3.8 million, but there have been some players to have landed very decent prizes with the second best prize, the Major jackpot already seeing a number of winners.

Wheel of Wishes Major jackpot prizes

So far, the largest amount won on the Wheel of Wishes slot was the first Major jackpot prize to be landed on the 13th February 2020 when one lucky player took home a prize worth over 329,000. A number of wins between 67,000 and just over 100,000 followed across February and March as the Major jackpot was won a number of times in this period.

However by early March it had not been won for a while before the next big winner landed their prize on the 29th March, taking home over 219,000 in prize money. Since then we have had two further big money winners a 287,000+ prize won on April 25th and a 266,000+ prize claimed on May 22nd.

Across those Major jackpot winners alone, the Wheel of Wishes slot has paid out over 1 million in prize money, but it is still that large almost 3.8 million prize that is on the minds of most of the players on the slot. You can find more stats on WheelofWishes.net.

It should be pointed out here that the Mini and Minor jackpots, as is the case on Mega Moolah, are both won several times daily for smaller amounts, often measured in the tens and hundreds of pounds for each trigger.

With the Mega Moolah jackpot around half the value of the Wheel of Wishes jackpot at present, there has never been a better time since the game's release to give this exciting progressive from Microgaming a try.

Exciting developments for the Wowpot Jackpot in the near future

However, it may not be too long before players have a choice of games to play if they want to try and land that Wowpot prize. Microgaming announced back at the ICE London 2020 event that they had plans to add a second slot to the network. Triple Edge Studios have been working on the Sisters Of Oz slot for a while now and this new game is due for release very shortly and it too will offer players a chance to play for the Wowpot Jackpot.

Yet that is not the only slot that is forthcoming that is set to be linked to the Wowpot Progressive Jackpot prize. Stormcraft Studios have gone back to one of their first releases with their partnership with Microgaming, Fortunium, to develop a new slot Fortunium Gold. This slot, due for release later this year, will also be linked to the new Wowpot progressive prize.

It is abundantly clear that Microgaming has big plans for both its big money progressives. With Mega Moolah seeing Mega Vault Millionaire, Atlantean Treasures and then Absolootly Mad all released in quick succession, we are now seeing the focus shift to Wheel of Wishes, with at least two new slots planned for that network too in 2020.

Wheel of Wishes may hold the top spot in terms of the biggest progressive jackpot prize at the moment, so it is probably the best time to play it. That is until the Mega Moolah jackpot starts to creep up again to perhaps catch up and then overtake Wheel of Wishes over the next few weeks.

Until then, people will keep playing and sooner or later some lucky player will become the first Wheel of Wishes Wowpot progressive jackpot winner! That could be you. So find the best deal today and start playing all these fantastic jackpot games!
