Two strategies to trigger the Mega Vault Millionaire slot's Jackpot Bonus Game

With Casino Rewards revamping their starter bonuses and in doing so, drawing more focus on their own Mega Moolah progressive jackpot-linked slot, Mega Vault Millionaire, it is now perhaps a good time to consider what is the best strategy to play the game, assuming you are a player that starts with a standard sized deposit (plus your bonus) in your account.

Now of course, we have to be careful here when discussing strategy on a slot game. On every spin, a player has zero influence over what symbols will turn up on the reels, or whether that spin will be a winner, and if it is how much money that spin will offer you as a win.

So, what do we mean when we talk about strategy and specifically for Mega Vault Millionaire? While it is accepted that you cannot influence the outcome of any spin in the game, there are factors you can control and which can influence your chances of triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game, a series of three Wheels which you progress through to win one of the four different progressive jackpots available in the game, Mini, Minor, Major or that massive Mega jackpot prize (which looks set to break through the £9.5 million mark at the time of writing).

Our strategy instead will look at how you choose to spend the money you have available to you. When you should stop a session, when you should continue it, how much you should be spending per spin depending on what you want to get from the game and what matters to you, as well as how much time you have available to play.

Essentially, we are going to break our strategies down into two different methods. The first, and most simplest, is for a player who has zero interest in winning smaller amounts on the slot and wants to give themselves the best chance of triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game, no matter what it costs.

The second and far more complex strategy, is for a player that wants to maximise the number of spins they get for their initial deposit and bonus and who would like to ensure that this money lasts the longest possible time and generates enough bonus wins to give them extra spins beyond what this initial amount of cash would generate. In essence, this is a longer-term view of playing Mega Vault Millionaire as cost-effectively as possible, while still giving you a chance to play for the progressive jackpot prize on each spin.

Let's begin with the first and easiest to explain, the Jackpot Bonus Game or Bust approach.

Higher volatility strategy - Jackpot or bust

There is no doubt that there are a significant number of people that play the Mega Vault Millionaire slot, or indeed any of the other Mega Moolah-linked progressive jackpot games, with a sole eye on landing that top Mega Jackpot prize, or perhaps the Major Jackpot prize, which often exceeds £50,000. On our home page you can see a table of the currency Mega, Major, Minor and Mini jackpots.

If you are a player that is not interested in those lower value wins that can happen on extended sessions of the game, and you are solely focused on triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game in the hope of winning one of the four progressive jackpot prizes, then you need to adopt a very different strategy to most other players.

We already know that the one way to increase your chances of triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game on any of the Mega Moolah slots is to bet more per spin on each spin you play. In addition, you should try and play as many spins as you can too.

Therefore, if losing money isn't a problem to you and a sacrifice you are willing to make to try and land the Jackpot Bonus Game, then you should elect to play for a higher bet amount. What this amount actually is, depends on your bankroll and a simple rule of thumb is the more you are willing to spend in each session, then the more your bet size should be.

For example, if you are a high roller and have a £1,000 to spend in a single session on Mega Moolah (which is well beyond the realms of most players), then you could spend that on the maximum spin amount in the game, which is £6.25 per spin. That would get you 160 spins at the highest spin price possible on the Mega Vault Millionaire slot.

However, if you have a much smaller amount to spend, say £50, then my recommendation would be to play a session which gives you at least 100 spins based on the amount you want to spend. So in this case, this would be £0.50 per spin. This still gives you double the chance of triggering the jackpot than playing for 0.25 per spin, but also means with 100 spins, you have a fair chance of triggering the Free Spins bonus game at least once and perhaps winning back a fair proportion of what you spend.

However, a word of warning, what I have found is that it does seem more difficult to recoup losses when you spend more on your spins on the Mega Vault Millionaire (or indeed any Mega Moolah slot). That is because you lose more money, so you do need to win more in order to cover your losses. That is more difficult to do when you bet more and as such, I have noted a mark difference in how profitable or not the game plays when you play for 0.25 per spin compared to 0.50 per spin or more.

That is not to say you cannot make a profit playing at the higher bet amounts, you certainly can, but it is just that losses you have to claw back in a session tend to be greater due to the higher bet price.

I would seriously only recommend this strategy if you are a higher stakes player who is comfortable with losing a significant amount of cash chasing the jackpot bonus game. If, you are looking for better longer-term value and a greater chance to turn your cash and bonus into more spins over a longer period of time, then the strategy below is a much better choice.

Lower volatility strategy - Long term game-play

Alongside the throwing all your eggs into the one basket strategy outlined above, there is a different approach you can use that I use on these games and that involves a much longer term approach and using the wins you land in the game to fund your future spins on the Mega Vault Millionaire slot by maximising your profitable sessions and trying to minimise your non-profitable ones.

Of course, that is easy to say, so how do you go about achieving that?

The first thing to note is that your approach should be the same regardless of what you deposit and receive as a bonus from your casino. You will start your journey with a lump sum of cash and bonus cash.

Now unless this was a very large amount of money (and as a general rule of thumb, I'd say above £500 in total). I would start by playing the minimum bet amount on the Mega Vault Millionaire slot for 0.25 per spin.

In addition to this, the other critical aspect of this feature is how to play the game. Now you can use either the standard Spin button to click spin yourself, or you can use Autoplay and I believe that one of these methods is far more beneficial to you when playing Mega Vault Millionaire, or any Mega Moolah-powered slot, with a view to maximising the longevity of your bankroll.

If you click yourself, then you can easily lose track of the amount of time played on the game, the amount of spins you have had and it is tempting to keep thinking to yourself "well, the next spin may be the one that lands me that big cash prize, or Jackpot Bonus Game trigger, so I'll just play one more..." This then turns into a session where you are not controlling your spend and it is easy to spend more than you intended.

Using Autoplay solves that. You can set how many spins to play, 10, 25, 50 or 100 and the Autoplay will run through those spins for you and no more at the set bet price. So you know exactly how much you will be spending on those spins.

However, what also makes using Autoplay a real boon is that when you trigger a bonus feature, such as the Free Spins bonus game, or even the Jackpot Bonus Wheel, the game will pause and the Autoplay spins will stop. You can then click to play through your bonus and then at the end of the bonus round, you will be able to see how much you have won and what your balance stands at.

These moments are an ideal time for you to view the session you have just played through in full. You can gauge whether the spins you have played have generated a profit, or a loss, how much that is and then you can also consider how the slot is playing at the present moment in time before deciding on your next move.

It is this which is a fundamental part of your strategy. Whether you have played 100 spins and not triggered a bonus or have played fewer than that number and have triggered a bonus, these pauses in the Autoplay games give you time to reflect on how the game is playing.

As we all know, slot games are random and you cannot influence how a game will play in terms of whether it produces wins or not, but you can get a feeling of how the slot is playing from even just a single session on the reels, even if this is less than 100 spins.

For example, if you have started a session in Autoplay, played through just 25 spins, have won on a high percentage of those spins and then triggered Free Spins and made a healthy profit on the session, you may rightly feel that the slot is running more beneficially to you, so you may decide that you want to carry on playing the remaining 75 spins or so you had planned on.

Alternatively, if you play through 100 Autoplay spins and make a relatively large loss on the session, say of £10 or more, then you may feel that the slot isn't really running that positively at the moment, so it is a prudent move to close it down, leave it and come back to it another time.

Of the two scenarios, it is when the slot is playing more generously that is harder to gauge as to when to finish playing. It is tempting to think, well, the slot is playing very well so I should carry on, but there will be a time when wins start to tail away. It is noticing this and stopping at the most advantageous time for you that is the key to this strategy.

Autoplay helps this because it gives you easy to define points at which the spins will stop and you can take stock, such as after your spins are completed or when a bonus is triggered and played. It is at this point you can take the decision to either play on or quit and come back another day.

Why quit if you are ahead? If you can keep doing this, then you will have more money to spend chasing that jackpot. This means that your initial deposit and bonus can go on funding your playing long after you have played through the initial amount of spins.

Whatever strategy suits you best depends on your attitude to progressive jackpot slots. If it is only the progressive that matters to you and you are prepared to make a loss chasing it, then the first option is the wisest choice. However for the vast majority of players, the more measured, longer term second strategy is by far the more prudent option.
